Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at the Congress and Left parties in Kerala, saying that the leaders of the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) behave like junior-level goons.

Addressing a rally in Palakkad ahead of the Kerala state assembly elections, Modi said, “Left parties have been in power here many times. But their leaders still behave like junior-level goons. Under them, political rivals are killed, hacked and beaten.”

Workers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are regularly beaten up and killed in Kerala. Recently, 26-year old Nandu alias Rahul Krishna, the RSS shakha mukhya shikshak at Nagamkulangara in Wayalar village panchayat in Kerala’s Alappuzha, was killed by SDPI workers.

The BJP government in Kerala will put an end to this violence, Modi promised. He further said that the UDF and LDF are ashamed of the culture of the land and they abuse traditions and ethos.

“In a democracy, we can have political differences. But violence is not acceptable.” He asked the people to vote for the BJP, a government that guarantees peace and prosperity in the state.

Claiming that both the UDF and the LDF have misled the people of Kerala, Modi also said that just as Judas betrayed Jesus Christ for a few pieces of silver, the LDF government has betrayed Kerala for a few pieces of gold.
