In the Communist-ruled state of Kerala, the police have arrested a Maulavi named Sharafudeen for allegedly raping a 13-year-old minor girl inside a madrasa in Ernakulam.
As per reports, the Islamic teacher had raped the victim multiple times and told the victim that if she revealed the sexual assault, he would harm her family and that is why she kept quiet.
However, when the girl told her parents that she had a stomach ache, they took her to the doctor and were shocked to learn that their daughter was pregnant.
The girl was so scared that it took a lot of convincing from her parents to tell them who raped her and that no harm will come to her family.
Only when she felt that her family is safe, did she decide to disclose what the Maulavi had done to her. The victim later revealed that the Maulavi had also allegedly recorded the rape on camera and threatened to make it public she revealed anything.
The police have now registered a case under POCSO and the relevant sections of the IPC.
