A 45 year old man from Chathannoor near Kollam was arrested by the Kerala police on Thursday (February 11) for raping and impregnating his own daughter. The survivor, aged 15 years, was found to be three months pregnant.
The incident came to light when the girl was taken to a hospital after she complained of stomach cramps. The doctors found that the girl was raped and informed the police and child-helpline immediately.
The girl was counselled, who then revealed that her brother’s friend, a 22-year-old boy named Noushad, had raped her. Noushad was arrested in October last year.
Recently, the girl had a second round of counselling, where she spoke about the involvement of her father. Following this, a case was registered and the accused were charged under several Sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.
Police who were investigating the case arrested the father on Thursday.
