Karnataka: Police arrest three, seize 8 kg of ganja worth ₹2.66 lakh in Udupi

Police on Thursday apprehended three persons and seized eight kilograms of ganja worth ₹2.66 lakh near the Shimbra bridge in Manipal, Udupi. The accused were involved in a drug racket, where they would transport ganja from Maharashtra to Karnataka and sell it in Manipal.

The accused have been identified as Gautam Raju Shimunge from Maharashtra, Jaswinder Singh from Punjab and Krishna Jalagar of Brahmavara, Karnataka.

The police received information regarding this racket and proceeded to nab the accused ― who were attempting to sell the ganja from an auto-rickshaw ― in an operation near the Shimbra bridge.

The operation was executed under the leadership of Udupi SP N Vishnuvardhan, Additional SP Kumara Chandra and DSP Sudhakar Nayak.

Manjunath M Gowda, police inspector Manipal, Santhosh Kaykini, CPI, Byndoor, personnel of Manipal police station probationary PSI Devaraj Siddanna Biradar and Aminsaab Maulasaab Attar, ASI Shailesh, head constables Dayakar Prasad, Vishwajit, Naveen, Abdul Rajak, constables Santhosh HT, Revanna Siddappa, Lokesh, Adarsh Byndoor, personnel of Byndoor circle Chandra, Ashok, Naveen and Guruprasad took part in the operation.
