Indian Veterinary Association slams MP Maneka Gandhi for using unparliamentary words against Veterinary Doctors

The Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) has called on all veterinarians in the country to observe June 23rd as ‘Black Day’ to condemn MP Maneka Gandhi’s unruly behaviour against a veterinary doctor.

In the audio that surfaced on social media on June 21, MP and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi is purportedly heard telling a police officer to register a case and slap a veterinarian, whom she accused of breaking a dog’s leg but was denied by IVA. In the leaked audio, she reportedly used unparliamentary language toward the arrested veterinary doctor and ordered the police to recover the cost of treatment from that veterinary doctor.

The Indian Veterinary Association issued a press statement condemning MP Maneka Gandhi’s unruly behaviour. It reads: “Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) feels aggrieved and registers its strongest condemnation in the strongest terms for Smt.Maneka Gandhi’s high-handed act for using abusive and filthy language against a Veterinarian who has performed surgery on a dog and demanding money as compensation, subverting all the laws of the land in a manner not less than an act of vandalism.”

The association also called for a nationwide protest, requesting that all veterinarians in the country observe a Black Day by wearing a Black Batch/ Band while performing their duties on June 23, 2021, as a mark of protest for the highhanded act and malicious mischief of using abusive language while dealing with the veterinarian under the guise of animal welfare.

According to IVA, they have already raised the unruly behaviour of MP Maneka Gandhi with the Prime Minister and Speaker of the Lok Sabha. “IVA has submitted her unparliamentary behavior to Honorable Prime Minister and Speaker of Lok Sabha, breaking the moral code of conduct of a Parliamentarian, and her disparaging statements on Veterinarians have already generated a profound grief within the professional cadre,” it states.

IVA threatened to intensify the agitations, if MP Maneka Gandhi doesn’t reverse her attitude and refrain from obnoxious comments on Veterinarians of the country.
