Income tax sleuths raid Chennai properties of DMK chief Stalin’s son-in-law

With four days ahead of the Tamil Nadu state assembly elections, the Income Tax department has conducted raids at DMK chief MK Stalin’s son-in-law’s properties in Chennai.

Of the eight places where I-T sleuths commenced their search early on Friday, four are linked to Stalin’s daughter Senthamarai and son-in-law Sabareesan.

Officials said that the searches began on Friday morning at Stalin’s daughter’s houses in Neelangarai and Teynampet. Apart from the Sabareesan’s residence, several other places connected with him are also being searched.

Tax officials are also carrying out search operations in a couple of other places belonging to persons connected with the DMK. Tax officials are searching the house of Karthik, son of MK Mohan, DMK’s Anna Nagar constituency candidate and the house of Senthil Balaji, the DMK’s Karur constituency candidate.

Last month, Income Tax officials searched the residence of former minister and DMK leader E.V. Velu and other premises connected with him.

The Tamil Nadu state assembly polls are scheduled to be held on April 6 in a single phase. The votes will be counted on May 2.
