Former Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai, during a recent press meet in Coimbatore, addressed the 2023 defamation suit filed against him by DMK Treasurer and Member of Parliament TR Baalu. He announced that he will be cross-examining Baalu in a Chennai court on the 24th and 25th of this month, with the aim of exposing the truth behind corruption allegations and revealing the staggering wealth amassed by the family.
Referring to the case, Annamalai stated, “Right now, TR Baalu has filed a defamation suit against me. On the upcoming 24th and 25th, in Chennai, I will be cross-examining TR Baalu in that case. That is, regarding the “DMK Part One Files“—many of you asked what happened after. After we release the files, TR Baalu filed a defamation case against me. One important aspect of such a defamation case is that the person who claims to have suffered a loss of reputation and filed a case has to appear in court, and the opposite party has the right to question them. So, I will be questioning TR Baalu in the Chennai court on the 24th and 25th. He will have to answer my questions. I’m going to take in the court—how he acquired them, his family, TRB Raja and his brother. I will bring details of every single property to the court. How did he earn this wealth? While he was a Member of Parliament, he made special gas (requests) to the UPA government for his company—for fertilizer production, alcohol, etc.”
Annamalai emphasized the importance of transparency in the judicial process said, “Sometimes, when such arguments happen through court and are then seen by the public through the press, only then do people understand who the real corrupt individuals are.”
