Hindu Munnani Besiege Lorries, JCBs And Temple EO’s Assistant Attempting To Steal Soil From Agatheeswarar Temple Land

The incident in which Hindu Munnani leaders besieged a group of people, including the temple’s Executive Officer (EO)’s assistant in Villivakkam, who attempted to steal soil from temple land without permission has caused quite a stir in the area.

A.T.Elangovan, Hindu Munnani Tamil Nadu State Spokesperson and Chennai City President, posted on his social media about the incident.

“Yesterday around 12 o’clock, 5 lorries and a JCB machine were brought to the 4-acre vacant ground belonging to Chennai Villivakkam Arulmiku Agatheeswarar Temple. The JCP machines were used to till the land and illegally take sand from the temple’s property. Based on the information provided by the locals, the leaders of the Hindu Munnani visited the location and questioned the group about how they could dig soil without permission. We asked the group if they had taken permission from the appropriate authorities.”, he wrote.

AT Elangovan also stated that the assistant to the temple’s Executive Officer (EO) was present with the group digging the soil, and when asked if the temple authorities had granted them permission, the assistant stated that they had.

However, when asked by Hindu Munnani leaders to show the permission letter, the Executive Officer’s Assistant refused, according to AT Elangovan.

AT Elangovan further said, “The Hindu Munnani office bearers did not allow the truck and the JCB machine to be taken out. And a complaint has been lodged with the police last night in this regard. It is well known that the temple EO is involved in this soil digging, having illegally granted permission for the unauthorised group to dig soil from temple grounds and assisting in such illegal activity.”

He went on to say that the Hindu Munnani demands that anyone who assisted in the theft of soil be thoroughly investigated and punished severely. Hindu Munnani went on to say that if action is not taken against the erring officials, it will mobilize people and stage a massive protest.

It should be noted that this is the same location where the ceremony for providing welfare assistance to priests took place, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and other Ministers in attendance.
