A former DMK municipal councillor, identified as Nagaraj, has been apprehended by the police on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl. Nagaraj, a 63-year-old individual who once held the position of councillor in Kavundampalayam in Coimbatore, is now arrested under POSCO.
The accused who is a member of the DMK party, resides with his family in Kavundampalayam. According to law enforcement authorities, Nagaraj purportedly lured a 14-year-old girl to his residence on 11 December 2023, evening. The victim, who was returning from school, fell prey to a sexual assault allegedly perpetrated by Nagaraj.
The gravity of the situation came to light when the traumatized girl recounted her harrowing experience to her parents. In response, the distressed parents wasted no time and promptly reported the incident to the All-Women Police Station in Coimbatore central on 12 December 2023.
