Elderly Woman Murdered For Jewellery Near Cuddalore

An elderly woman was allegedly murdered for her jewellery at Thirupathiripuliyur near Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu, as reported in Dinakaran.

The deceased has been identified as Kala, a native of the Tiruvannamalai region. She was reportedly working as a street cleaner outside jewellery shops in Cuddalore.

According to reports, Kala had been sleeping outside the house of a man identified as Murali, near the railway tracks in Market Nagar, Thirupathiripuliyur, after completing her work.

She was found dead outside the house on Wednesday morning.

Police were alerted by local residents after Kala was found with severe injuries to her ears and nose. Her jewellery was also reportedly missing.

The Thirupathiripuliyur police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the Cuddalore Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

A preliminary police inquiry reportedly indicates that unidentified persons may have attacked Kala and cut off her ears and nose to steal the jewellery she was wearing before fleeing the scene.

Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the murder.
