DMK Municipal Council President Who Allegedly Attempted To Get 16-Year-Old Girl Aborted Arrested Under POCSO Act

In a shocking turn of events, three individuals, including a woman municipal council president affiliated with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), have been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in connection with an alleged attempt to abort a 16-year-old girl in Kilambadi, Erode district.

The incident revolves around a 17-year-old boy, a student at a government school in the Karumandampalayam area, who is accused of impregnating the girl. The three people involved tried to secretly carry out the abortion procedure at a private hospital in Kodumudi. The boy allegedly sought assistance from a relative, identified as Amuthal, who happens to be the Kilambadi Municipality Chairman.

The Child Welfare Officer swiftly initiated an inquiry into the matter after receiving a complaint from the parents of the 16-year-old girl. Acting on the complaint filed at the Malayampalayam police station, authorities apprehended the municipality president, Amuthal, and the parents of the boy involved in the case. At present, law enforcement agencies are actively searching for the missing 17-year-old boy.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the safety and well-being of minors in the region.
