In a horrific crime that has sent shockwaves through the capital, a nine-year-old girl was raped and murdered in the Dayalpur area of Northeast Delhi on Bakrid (7 June 2025). The victim’s semi-naked, bloodied body was found stuffed inside a suitcase in a locked apartment, with police now hunting for the prime suspect, a local man identified as Naushad.
According to police reports, the minor had left her home in Nehru Vihar around evening to deliver ice to a relative’s house. When she failed to return, her family launched a search. Witnesses reported seeing the child enter a flat approximately 200 meters from her residence.
After breaking open the locked door, the girl’s father found her unconscious inside a suitcase. She was declared dead at the hospital, with medical reports confirming sexual assault and visible injuries.
North East District DCP Ashish Mishra confirmed the forensic findings and stated that CCTV footage was being examined. The victim’s family has accused a local resident named Naushad, who remains absconding.
The body has been sent for autopsy while police continue their manhunt.
