Anshar Paasha, a Congress Corporator in Bengaluru along with 4 others including his brother Nayaz Pasha have been arrested by the Bengaluru Police in the case where a Hindu youth was allegedly forcefully converted, assaulted and tortured for days.

The incident came to light after a video was published by The Lede on 9 October 2022, in which the victim (name withheld) narrates the ordeals faced by him inside the Banashankari Masjid and how he was forcefully circumcised, sodomized and left to bleed.

The victim mentions that he was given a black liquid which kept him unconscious for four days and during this time, he was allegedly forcefully circumcised. He said that he was continuously bleeding after circumcision, and was thrown into a dark room. He claims to have received a cut on the hand after refusing to eat meat. He was also sent to Tirupati to study Islam in three mosques where again he was assaulted for being unable to correctly perform Namaz and recite verses from the Quran.

The victim had mentioned the name of Congress corporator Anshar Paasha who he alleged to be involved in the conversion racket.

“Anshar Paasha, Nayaz Paasha, Ajeesh, Muhammed Iqbal, Althaf, Shabbir, Rafiq, Sayeed and others forcibly pushed me into the Banashankari masjid and assaulted me. Then they brought Dr. Khaleem, who circumcised me against my will despite my repeated requests for him not to.”, the victim had said in The Lede video.

“After being transported to Puthur, Andhra, I was subsequently brought back to Bengaluru and placed in the custody of Nayaz and Anshar Pasha in the Sultan Shah Masjid.”, he had said.

The victim also stated that he was punched in the testicles and a screwdriver inserted into his anus until he began to bleed. He was also asked to convert 3 Hindus every year and was given death threats if he complained to the police.

Initially he was hesitant to file a police complaint as he lived in a locality dominated by Muslims, he said. He later filed a complaint with the help of Bajrang Dal in which 12 people have been named as accused.

Based on this complaint, the police have arrested 5 persons including Conrgess corporator Anshar Paasha and his brother Nayaz Paasha.

They have been booked under sections 265, 344, 346, 504, 506 of the IPC along with provision under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Further investigations are ongoing.
