The images are difficult to ignore.
When Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar appeared at a UAE honours ceremony this week, the long line of surgical stitches and staples running across his skull offered a stark glimpse of the injuries he suffered during the September 30 attack aboard a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. His arm remained in a sling as the UAE honoured him and his fellow crew members for their courage.
WILL TRAIN YOU HOW TO FIGHT”
UAE PRESIDENT REMARKS LIGHT HEARTEDLY TO CAPTAIN SMIT MACHCHHAR.
With stitches stapled to his head and his left arm wrapped in a sling, Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar showed up at a ceremony hosted by the United Arab Emirates to honour him and his fellow flydubai crew members for averting a terror incident on Tel Aviv-bound flydubai flight FZ 1073.
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan conferred the First Class Order of Zayed II on Captain Machchhar and fellow crew members. But what has caught the attention of people on the internet is a sweet interaction between Machchhar and the UAE President.
“It’s my honour, Your Highness,” Machchhar said as he hugged UAE President.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan then inspected Machchhar’s head injury and the stitches. Later in the video, the two can be seen chatting and sharing a light-hearted moment.
“When will you heal?” Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan asks, looking at Machchhar’s arm sling.
“Maybe two months,” he replies.
“So I have an idea. When you heal, I want to have a session with you to train you how to fight,” Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan says and the two share a hearty laugh.

Machchhar had been repeatedly struck on the head with a cockpit crash axe by his co-pilot. Despite his injuries, he managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew members to intervene and restrain the attacker. The aircraft was diverted to Saudi Arabia and landed safely.
The UAE’s investigation into the incident is ongoing. But the severity of Machchhar’s injuries is now there for everyone to see.
And yet, just a day after the incident, Congressi Cockroachiya YouTuber Akash Banerjee of The Deshbhakt had already devoted a video to questioning the sequence of events and entertaining theories ranging from a pilot’s suicide attempt to a possible Israeli false-flag operation.

He stopped a terrorist
He saved hundreds of lives
He made India proud

From Questioning the Timeline to Entertaining a False-Flag Theory
On October 1, Banerjee published a video titled “What Really Happened On Board The Flydubai Flight? | Experts Question Sequence Of Events”.
At the outset, he acknowledged that Machchhar had been attacked in the cockpit and that the injured captain had managed to open the door, enabling passengers to enter and help restrain the attacker. He also acknowledged Machchhar’s bravery.
But the video quickly moved beyond examining the available facts.
Banerjee asked whether the incident was a “cockpit meltdown”, an attempt by the pilot to take his own life, or a “well planned terror plot”. He repeatedly questioned how passengers could have entered the cockpit, subdued the attacker and helped stabilise the aircraft while it was rapidly descending.
He highlighted the reported loss of altitude in a short period and suggested that the sequence of events sounded almost unbelievable, repeatedly invoking the idea of a cinematic or scripted scenario.
An Injured Captain, Passengers Who Intervened—and a Story About Israel
Banerjee’s speculation did not stop at the cockpit.
His video entertained the possibility of a “false flag” operation, discussed claims made by Iran, and linked the incident to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s upcoming elections and the country’s conflict with Iran.
He went as far as asking: “Was this actually a terror attack?”
The video’s framing encouraged viewers to consider whether the incident was a suicide attempt, a psychological “meltdown”, a planned terror plot or a political operation involving Israel.
The Plumber Who Helped—and the “Hollywood Script” Argument
Banerjee also focused on Yaniv Hayoun, a plumber who entered the cockpit, and another passenger who was a professional pilot.
He questioned how an ordinary passenger could have helped restrain the attacker and how the people involved could have acted so quickly.
But extraordinary events do not become fabricated merely because ordinary people respond courageously under pressure. The relevant questions are what the witnesses actually saw, what the available footage shows, and what the flight data and investigation establish.
The video also displayed social media reactions from accounts such as Nick Fuentes, whose comments questioned how a plumber could have helped subdue the attacker and stabilise the aircraft.
The result was a narrative in which the actions of passengers and crew were repeatedly presented as reasons to doubt the account of the incident, while broader political theories were given substantial attention.
The Captain’s Injuries Tell a Different Story
The recent images from the UAE ceremony bring the human cost of the incident into sharper focus.
The extensive surgical marks across Machchhar’s head reflect the seriousness of the trauma he sustained. Neurosurgeons commenting on the photographs have described a severe depressed skull fracture and highlighted the potentially life-threatening danger posed by damage in that region.
The captain’s injuries underscore that this was no abstract online mystery: a real pilot suffered severe injuries during a violent cockpit confrontation, and passengers and crew intervened before the aircraft landed safely.
In an interview published by The National on October 17, Machchhar recounted the ordeal himself, describing repeated blows, losing consciousness and fighting to survive. His account provides a first-hand perspective that deserves to be considered alongside other evidence gathered by investigators.
Captain Machchhar’s ordeal deserves more than a political guessing game. The public deserves a careful account of what happened aboard flight FZ1073, based on witness testimony, flight data and the findings of investigators.
