DMK Councillor Kanimozhi Accused Of Threatening Doctor Over Cash Demand At Tenkasi Govt Hospital

dmk councillor kanimozhi tenkasi

Doctors at the Tenkasi Government District Headquarters Hospital have accused DMK District Panchayat Councillor Kanimozhi and her supporters of threatening a duty doctor over a financial dispute. According to the hospital staff, the Councillor wanted to transfer money via GPay and was pressured to provide ₹5,000 in cash. When the doctor refused, he was allegedly subjected to intimidation.

The medical team also alleged that Councillor Kanimozhi had insisted the money be handed over to an accident victim, allegedly to resolve or suppress an accident-related matter. In response to the situation, Hospital Superintendent Dr. R. Jesline stated that a formal police complaint would be lodged against the councillor.

The situation reportedly escalated when a heated exchange broke out. Kanimozhi, visibly agitated, was heard shouting “I will go to Ma Subramanian and complain directly. I will complain about everything. Tomorrow all will come. What are you thinking of yourself?”

A female police officer present at the scene attempted to calm things down, but the councillor continued shouting. She asserted that she had requested the money to be paid via GPay and was demanding a cash return. When her demand was resisted, the councillor reportedly lashed out again, claiming, “When they came to this hospital for the investigation, there were no doctors present. I will go to Ma Subramanian and complain directly. I will complain about everything.”

The incident has drawn attention to growing concerns among hospital staff over political interference and alleged misuse of power. The matter is expected to be investigated further following the superintendent’s statement about involving law enforcement.

‘Stop Making Excuses, Arrest Real Culprits!’ Hindu Munnani Slams DMK Govt Over Temple Idol Vandalism In Thirumangalam Near Madurai

hindu munnani temple idol vandalism thirumangalam madurai

Hindu Munnani has called on the Tamil Nadu government and police to take the Thirumangalam temple idol vandalism case seriously, urging swift identification and arrest of the actual culprits behind the incident. The group criticized the authorities for their continued slow and ineffective response, especially as incidents of idol desecration persist across the state.

In a statement issued on its official X handle, Hindu Munnani said, “In Tamil Nadu, swami idols continue to be vandalized, the police offer excuses, and the state government remains indifferent…

Anti-social elements have broke swami idols in a temple located in the Thirumangalam municipality area of Madurai district yesterday. Local have filed a complaint about this at the Thirumangalam police station. The breaking of idols and destruction of temples in both urban and rural areas continues like a serial story in Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu police not only follow a sluggish approach in identifying the real culprits, but even when the offenders are caught, they brush it off by saying it’s the act of mentally ill or underdeveloped individuals. Hindu Munnani strongly condemns this attitude of the police. The Tamil Nadu police should stop making excuses and drop the case against the culprits who vandalize Swami statues and take strict action against them. The Hindu Munnani urges the Tamil Nadu government and police to pay due attention to the Thirumangalam temple idol vandalism case and arrest the real culprits involved in the incident and bring them to justice.”

According to reports, over 10 Swami idols were damaged in the latest attack at a temple in Palaniyapuram, kuthiraisaripuram, which falls under the Thirumangalam municipality. The temple houses more than 20 idols, including deities such as Ayyar Swami, Periya Karuppu Swami, Sannasi, Mayandi, Rakachi Amman, Chinna Sami, and Andi Sami.

The night before the incident came to light, unidentified vandals entered the temple premises and attempted to destroy the idols. The head portions of idols including Ayyar Swami and Rakachi Amman were damaged. The idol of Andi Sami was split in two and thrown down from its pedestal.

Shockingly, most of the damaged idols had their right hands deliberately broken. In total, over 10 idols were defaced, and even the temple’s ceremonial bell was stolen. Following the incident, local villagers filed a police complaint. Authorities have since inspected the site and are reviewing CCTV footage to track down the suspects.

Hindu Munnani has urged the state government and police to act promptly, treat the matter with seriousness, and bring those responsible to justice without delay.

Top Maoist Commander Tulsi Bhuiyan Killed In Encounter In Jharkhand’s Palamu

In a major success for the security forces for the second consecutive day in the ongoing anti-Maoist operations in Jharkhand, top Maoist commander Tulsi Bhuiyan was gunned down in the Palamu district, officials said on Tuesday.

The fierce encounter that began on Monday night in the Hussainabad subdivision of the district continued on Tuesday. An SLR rifle was recovered from the encounter site. The gunfight continued into Tuesday morning, and unconfirmed reports suggest that several other Maoists may have been injured or killed.

Security personnel have launched a massive search operation across the area. Senior officials, including Palamu Superintendent of Police (SP) Rishma Rameshan and top CRPF officers, are present at the spot. According to an official, the operation was launched based on intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoist commander Nitesh — who carries a reward of Rs 15 lakh — and his squad in Sitachuan, a forested area on the border of Mohammadganj and Haidernagar police station limits. Sanjay Godram, another Maoist with a bounty of Rs 10 lakh, is also believed to be part of this group.

As police and security forces closed in on the location, Maoists opened fire, prompting the forces to retaliate. This encounter comes a day after a similar operation in Netarhat police station area of neighbouring Latehar district, where Maoist commander Manish Yadav, who carried a Rs 5 lakh reward, was killed. Another Maoist, Kundan Kharwar, with a bounty of Rs 10 lakh, was arrested during the same operation.

On May 24, in an encounter in Ichwar forest of Latehar, Maoists Pappu Lohara (Rs 10 lakh reward) and Prabhat Lohara (Rs 5 lakh reward) were killed, and another injured Maoist was arrested. Earlier, on April 21, eight Maoists, including commander Prayag Manjhi — who carried a reward of Rs 1 crore — were killed in a major operation by security forces in the Lugu Hill area of Lalpania in Bokaro district of Jharkhand.

When Even Ethiopia Is A ‘Land of Opportunity’ For Pakistani Beggars

pakistan ethiopia beggar

While Pakistan’s leaders beg the IMF for billion-dollar bailouts, its citizens are being deported en masse from foreign nations for panhandling—including from Ethiopia, one of the world’s poorest countries. Yes, Ethiopia — a country where, according to the 2023 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), nearly 69% of the population lives in multidimensional poverty, with over 41% suffering severe deprivation — is still somehow seen as a land of opportunity by desperate Pakistani nationals.

The absurdity of the situation is hard to overstate. Ethiopia, whose MPI value (0.367) places it among the most impoverished nations globally, is now witnessing an influx of Pakistani beggars. This raises the awkward question: When your citizens are begging in countries where most people can barely afford food, what does that say about your own country’s condition?

The irony is as tragic as it is telling: a nation that boasts of being theIslamic nuclear powerhas been reduced to exporting beggars to destitute African nations.

Pakistan’s Beggar Export Business Hits New Lows

Recent government data reveals that 5,402 Pakistanis were deported from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, and other Gulf nations in just four months—primarily for begging. But the humiliation doesn’t end there. Reports confirm that Pakistani beggars have now infiltrated Ethiopia, where 68.7% of the population lives in multidimensional poverty.

Imagine the desperation: a country so bankrupt that its citizens fly to a nation poorer than itself just to beg. While Ethiopia struggles with malnutrition, lack of education, and crumbling infrastructure, Pakistanis are showing up with outstretched hands. If this isn’t rock bottom, what is?

A National Embarrassment Even Pakistan’s Leaders Can’t Deny

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif admitted that 22 million Pakistanis (nearly 10% of the population) are involved in begging, generating Rs. 42 billion annually. That’s right—begging is now a lucrative industry in theland of the pure.”

Even Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once lamented that Pakistanis are seen as beggars infriendly countries.Three years later, the situation has only worsened. The IMF’s $1 billion lifeline in June 2024 didn’t stop the begging crisis—it only reinforced Pakistan’s reputation as the world’s most shameless welfare state. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) also released a $1.023 billion aid package to Pakistan shortly after India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Why Ethiopia? Because Even War-Torn Nations Won’t Tolerate Pakistani Beggars

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar have tightened visa rules for Pakistanis after repeated scandals of pilgrims turning into professional beggars. Iraq deported 247 Pakistanis this year alone. With Gulf nations cracking down, Pakistani beggars are now scouting for softer targets—like Ethiopia, where law enforcement may be less vigilant.

A Failed State with a Begging-Based Economy

Pakistan’s economy survives on IMF bailouts, Chinese debt, and remittances from overseas laborers. Now, it seems begging is the next big export. From harassing tourists in Istanbul to swarming holy sites in Saudi Arabia, Pakistani beggars are a global menace.

But sending them to Ethiopia—a country battling famine and war—is a new low. If Pakistan’s leaders had any shame left, they’d declare a national emergency. Instead, they’ll probably just ask for another IMF handout to fund their next begging syndicate.

Final Thought: When your citizens are begging in nations poorer than yours, it’s time to admit—you’re not just a failing state. You’re a joke.

AIADMK General Secretary EPS Blasts ‘Chaotic Stalin Model’: After Sexual Harassment Scandal Now An Illegal Arms Case Surfaces In Arakkonam

eps dmk arakkonam

Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has strongly criticized the ruling DMK government over the complete breakdown of law and order in Tamil Nadu. Referring to two recent incidents in Arakkonam, EPS questioned the DMK’s governance and the silence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

In a post on his official X account, EPS wrote, “For a chaotic government, Arakkonam is the testimony!” His remarks come in the wake of two serious developments, the arrest of DMK municipal councillor Babu for allegedly possessing unlicensed firearms in public, and the controversial sexual harassment case involving a college student.

EPS highlighted that the survivor in the sexual abuse case, linked to DMK Youth Wing functionary Deivaseyal, had released an emotional video stating that she was being intimidated by the police. The student alleged not only police threats but also that her personal statements were leaked online, violating her dignity and further traumatizing her.

Why is the DMK shielding Deivaseyal?” EPS questioned, suggesting that the protection might be aimed at hiding a bigger political player involved behind the scenes. Who is that ‘SIR’?” he asked, vowing that such questions would persist until justice is delivered to the survivor.

He also criticized the administration for its double standards, “When we protest against such atrocities, we face restrictions. But the DMK is free to hold public meetings in support of the accused,” he said, adding that Tamil Nadu’s streets now see school students carrying machetes and automatic weapons, painting a grim picture of public safety.

EPS further questioned how a ruling party councillor could possess modern firearms without authorization, and said such lawlessness should prompt any responsible Chief Minister to hang his head in shame. “But Stalin won’t,” he added.

Concluding his remarks, EPS urged the people of Tamil Nadu to remain vigilant. “As I always say, until this regime ends, the people themselves must protect themselves – especially from the DMK people,” he warned.

Through his official X account, EPS stated, “For a chaotic government, Arakkonam is the testimony! Reports are emerging that two individuals, including DMK councillor Babu from Arakkonam, have been arrested for possessing two firearms without proper authorization. In this situation, the victim in the Arakkonam sexual assault case released a tearful video yesterday, stating that she is being threatened by the DMK government’s police.

The DMK Youth Wing functionary Deivaseyal allegedly deceives a student—subjected her to harassment to yield to the sexual desires of several DMK members. When the student bravely filed a complaint, the police began to intimidate her. Since the police act as an extension of the DMK Youth Wing, they are refusing to take any action.

A DMK municipal councillor possesses firearms without the proper licenses! Intoxicated youths carry knives—machetes are found in schoolbags, and now, automatic rifles are becoming common in Tamil Nadu. Is this not what I’ve been calling the “chaotic Stalin model” of governance? Why does Mr. @mkstalin get angry when I point out this truth? When we protest against these injustices, we face restrictions; but the DMK holds public meetings in support of the accused. I ask you, @mkstalin—don’t you feel any shame? Why is the DMK protecting Deivaseyal so fiercely? By shielding him, are they trying to protect or cover up a more powerful political figure behind the scenes? If so, who is that “SIR”? Until the victimized student receives justice, our questions will not stop.

What answer does @mkstalin have to the question—how did a DMK councillor get his hands on a modern firearm? With law and order in such disarray, any good Chief Minister would hang his head in shame. But, he’s not going to do all that.. As I always say, until this regime ends, the people themselves must protect themselves – especially from the DMK people!”

‘Will Sekar Babu Speak Up?’ Asks Hindu Munnani As HR&CE Dept Silent Over Alleged Land Encroachment Of Century-Old Temple By DMK Functionary In Dindigul

The Hindu Munnani has strongly criticized the ruling DMK government after allegations emerged that a local party functionary in Dindigul had encroached upon land belonging to a 100-year-old temple dedicated to Kaliyamman, Mariyamman, and Bhagavathi Amman in Boothamarathupatti near Pallapatti.

According to reports, Gunasekaran, the local DMK branch secretary, has laid claim to property within the temple premises—specifically, a cultural hall stage intended for staging the traditional ‘Valli Thirumanam’ play during the ongoing temple festival. This festival began on 20 May with preparatory activities, including the construction of ceremonial structures.

Local residents and devotees have opposed this move and lodged formal complaints with both the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department and the Dindigul Taluk Police Station. However, no action has reportedly been taken, allegedly due to the political influence of the accused.

In protest, over 50 people, including women, gathered at the police station, accusing authorities of failing to protect temple property and hindering the conduct of traditional religious events. Police eventually dispersed the crowd after holding discussions.

The temple, which falls under the jurisdiction of the HR&CE Department, has reportedly been targeted by Gunasekaran and his family, who allegedly formed a private trust two years ago in an effort to gain control of temple assets.

Hindu Munnani took to its official X account to question the silence of HR&CE Minister P.K. Sekar Babu. The organization demanded to know whether the minister, who frequently claims credit for reclaiming thousands of acres of temple land across Tamil Nadu, would intervene in this case as well.

Hindu Munnani stated, “DMK members have encroached upon temple land… Will Minister Sekar Babu speak up? The department minister falsely claims in acres that thousands of acres of temple land have been recovered, will he take steps to reclaim this temple land?”

“There is a 100-year-old temple dedicated to Kaliyamman, Mariyamman, and Bhagavathi Amman in Boothamarathupatti area of Pallapatti, in Dindigul district. This temple is under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department. Gunasekaran, the local DMK branch secretary, has been involved in attempts to seize temple property. Currently, the DMK functionary is claiming that the drama stage inside the temple’s cultural hall—meant for the important play of Valli Thirumanam during the temple festival belongs to him. Although a complaint has been filed with the HR&CE Department, no action has been taken since the accused belongs to the DMK. When the public and devotees gathered and staged a protest at the Dindigul Taluk Police Station demanding recovery of the encroached temple land, the police pacified and sent them away. Both the HR&CE Department and the police remain silent because the person involved is a member of the ruling party. Will the minister, who falsely boasts about recovering thousands of acres of temple land, take any action to recover this particular temple land?” the post read.

The inaction by the HR&CE Department and local police has fueled concerns over the protection of temple properties, especially when politically connected individuals are involved.

Pro-China, Anti-India, Evidence Fabricating DMK Stooge N. Ram Known As ‘Mount Road Mao’ To Be Nominated To Rajya Sabha By Stalin?

n ram n. ram the hindu dmk stalin

N. Ram, publisher of the 140-year-old The Hindu who hides façade of journalistic objectivity, long seen as a veteran voice in Indian media, now finds himself at the center of political speculation: the DMK is reportedly considering nominating him to the Rajya Sabha. It’s not a surprising development. For years, Ram has been less a neutral journalist and more a vocal mouthpiece for DMK propaganda — echoing the party’s positions, publishing Stalin’s op-eds, and attacking the Tamil Nadu Governor with near-synchronised precision.

Now, the line between newsroom and party war room is about to disappear entirely — with a Rajya Sabha seat as his reward.

Let’s take a look at how N. Ram could have manoeuvered his way to the ruling dispensation.

A Walking Companion, A Political Endorsement?

It was hard to miss Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s gushing 80th birthday tweet for Ram, “Wishing a happy 80th birthday to my walking friend and thinking companion, @nramind… He interrogates the news, questions power, and stands firm for press freedom.”

But what Stalin conveniently left out is this: N. Ram hasn’t so much “questioned power” as selectively interrogated it — provided it wears saffron. When it comes to the DMK, however, Ram’s journalistic rigor morphs into enthusiastic cheerleading.

From publishing Stalin’s NEET opposition essays verbatim to praising his speeches at communist party congresses, Ram has turned The Hindu’s op-ed section into a second-rate DMK press release archive. And now, the reward for his loyalty may just be a seat in the Rajya Sabha — a fitting culmination of years spent camouflaging partisanship as press freedom.

Press Freedom For Me, Not For Thee

Like a true leftist, N. Ram has been ‘vocal’ about India’s ‘slide’ on the Global Press Freedom Index — blaming the Modi government for a hostile media environment, raids on journalists, and suppression of dissent. On World Press Freedom Day, he amplified Stalin’s own performative concern. He wrote, “An influential voice for press freedom — and against authoritarian curbs and suppression:”

Yet, when DMK critics were jailed in Tamil Nadu for social media posts, Ram was curiously silent. Instead of questioning power in his own backyard, he offered cover — praising Tamil Nadu’s “credible” Tamil news media while ignoring the stifling of dissent within the state.

In an interview with BBC’s Stephen Sackur, praising TN “press freedom” he said, “There are still some exceptions. In the Indian languages, in Tamil Nadu, for example, where I come from, there are some perfectly credible television news channels, and maybe in West Bengal and other places as well.”

A Record Of Amplifying DMK’s Pet Causes

Ram’s bias isn’t subtle. Here’s a list of what he has amplified.

Glorified Stalin’s stance against the NEET exam with glowing commentary.

Championed resolutions undermining the role of the Tamil Nadu Governor, calling the Governor’s actions “childishness” and “cantankerous.”

Called Supreme Court rulings against the Governor a “historic victory” — not for the judiciary, but for Stalin personally.

Echoed DMK rhetoric that paints all opposition to their agenda as “chauvinism,” while painting Stalin’s own identity politics as “rational, intelligent, and principled.”

And when tax raids were conducted on Stalin’s own son-in-law ahead of the 2021 elections, Ram rushed to cry foul: “Outrageous misuse of agencies of state!” So much for objectivity.

Anti-India N. Ram

Let’s take a look at how The Hindu’s N. Ram has been blatantly anti-India. Be it doctoring documents relating to the Rafale deal or distorting India’s map by omitting Sikkim from it or peddling Pakistani propaganda amidst Operation Sindoor, The Hindu and N. Ram are responsible for peddling every single anti-India rhetoric.

Rafale

In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Ram attempted to manufacture a Rafale “scam” aimed at discrediting the Modi government. On 8 February 2019, The Hindu published a selectively cropped defence ministry note to suggest internal opposition to the Rafale deal, portraying the Prime Minister’s Office as interfering in the process. What the report conveniently omitted was a handwritten note by then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar calling the objections an “overreaction” and clarifying that both Indian and French leaderships were merely monitoring progress. ANI later exposed the full, unedited document, revealing that The Hindu had removed key portions, including date stamps and annotations, to mislead readers. When cornered, The Hindu claimed it published an earlier version of the note, a claim undermined by clear digital tampering.

Distorting India Map

The Hindu sparked fresh controversy with its 13 May 2025 edition after publishing a map of India that conspicuously excluded Sikkim. Featured in an opinion article about Catholicism in India, the omission triggered widespread backlash and accusations of anti-national bias.

In response, The Hindu issued an apology, citing a “data input error” and claiming the mistake had been corrected in its online and e-paper versions. However, critics remain unconvinced, pointing to the newspaper’s history of controversial reporting — including a previous, unverified claim that Indian Rafale jets were downed by Pakistan, which was later retracted.

Vijaita Singh’s Coverage of Manipur: Irresponsible And Inflammatory

Beyond the Kashmir-Pakistan narrative, The Hindu’s Vijaita Singh’s reporting during the Manipur ethnic conflict stands out for its recklessness. Since violence erupted in May 2023, her articles have repeatedly highlighted unverified claims, inflammatory statements, and misleading headlines that have only deepened the rift between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities.

In March 2025, Singh quoted a protester who accused security forces of saying, “We are not Indians”—a claim that was later walked back by the protester themselves. Still, Singh chose to amplify the quote without context, potentially stoking anti-security sentiment in a state already teetering on the edge.

In January 2024, she authored a report claiming that “Meitei MLAs call for positive action,” which was later clarified by The Hindu itself to be factually incorrect. The resolution in question had not been passed exclusively by Meitei MLAs, as originally reported—an error with significant communal implications.

In another instance, Singh reported on Chief Minister N. Biren Singh skipping a North Eastern Council meeting, framing it as a rebuke of the central government. Once again, her narrative placed the state and Centre at odds during a period requiring collaboration and restraint.

Operation Sindoor: Amplifying Pakistani Propaganda

The latest controversy erupted following India’s precision counter-terror strikes, Operation Sindoor, targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. While the Indian Army emphasized the operation’s surgical nature, Pakistani media and propaganda networks immediately circulated false claims of retaliatory strikes and downed Indian jets.

Equally concerning was The Hindu’s now-deleted social media post falsely suggesting Indian jet crashes—a claim swiftly refuted by defense experts as mere fuel tank jettisoning. The post read, “Just In|At least three Indian jets have crashed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor, Ramban, and Pampore areas, a government official told The Hindu, @vijaita reports.”

The publication’s quick deletion of the post, without clarification, only deepened suspicions of deliberate misinformation.

Pro-China The Hindu

The Hindu’ has long been recognized as an anti-Bharat media outlet. Both the publication and its journalists have repeatedly come under fire for publishing content that is not only openly hostile to India but also alarmingly aligned with China’s strategic interests. Over the years, the newspaper has solidified its reputation as a consistent mouthpiece for narratives that undermine India’s sovereignty, national security, and internal stability. Whether it’s border tensions, defense matters, or domestic policies, ‘The Hindu’ has habitually echoed adversarial positions—often mirroring China’s geopolitical agenda.

What makes this more dangerous is the blind and enthusiastic backing the paper receives from India’s liberal-left ecosystem. Despite clear evidence of its anti-national slant, this ideological cabal continues to defend and legitimize ‘The Hindu,’ enabling it to carry out its divisive agenda unchecked. Their uncritical support has only emboldened the newspaper to intensify its campaign against India’s national interest.

The Hindu published misleading stories like claiming three Indian fighter jets crashed in Kashmir (using images of fuel tanks as “evidence”), then quietly deleting the article.

The publication consistently echoed Beijing’s talking points on border disputes, portraying China’s military buildup positively, and downplaying Indian territorial concerns during LAC tensions and the Galwan clash.

They published multiple full-page Chinese government advertorials celebrating Communist Party milestones and China’s National Day, raising questions about editorial independence.

The Hindu was also seen praising China’s Belt and Road Initiative, defending Chinese military expansion in South Asia, and justifying authoritarian policies like religious crackdowns.

They have frequently criticized India’s foreign policy as weak while portraying China as a responsible global power and giving prominence to Chinese officials’ statements over Indian positions.

Additionally, the Chinese Ambassador’s 2022 visit to The Hindu’s headquarters highlighted the publication’s apparent closeness to Beijing.

From Leftist Publisher To Lawmaker?

For years, critics have accused The Hindu of harboring a subtle but consistent anti-India tilt in its editorial worldview — from whitewashing China’s actions to selectively reporting issues that align with Left-leaning narratives. Ram has personally backed stories that critics say have relied on dubious sourcing and narrative framing, particularly around Rafale and Pegasus. Now, with a likely Rajya Sabha seat in sight, the DMK may be about to formally reward one of their most faithful media amplifiers.

Loyalty Rewarded, Journalism Diminished

What we’re witnessing isn’t just another journalist entering politics. It’s the culmination of years of ideological convergence between N. Ram and the Dravidian model of politics — a worldview that sees the media not as a watchdog, but as a tool of cultural and political engineering.

As speculation builds over his potential nomination, the question isn’t just whether N. Ram will accept Stalin’s offer. The real question is: Was he ever outside the DMK tent to begin with?

Minor Among Four Illegal Bangladeshi Migrants Caught In Delhi

Four illegal Bangladeshi migrants, including a minor, were apprehended in Delhi, police said on Tuesday. The illegal migrants were identified as Mohd. Asad Ali, 44, Nasima Begum, 40, Naim Khan, 18 and Asha Moni, 13, all hailing from Farooq Bazar Ajwatari P.O., Gongarhat, Phulbari Kurigram, Bangladesh.

In a crackdown against illegal migrants residing in India under the Union Home Ministry’s campaign to deport illegal migrants, the team of Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Delhi’s South West district gathered the intelligence and apprehended the illegal migrants, Deputy Commissioner of Police South West District, New Delhi, said in a statement.

Acting on information that illegal Bangladeshi migrants were roaming in Delhi Cantt, a team led by Inspector Ram Kumar, I/C AATS/SWD and under the supervision of Ranvir Singh, ACP/Ops, approached the suspected persons and inquired about their identity/ documents. During interrogation, the individuals failed to produce valid Indian documents and admitted to being illegal Bangladeshi migrants who had entered India approximately 12 years ago illegally (by crossing the river).

They only had photocopies of Bangladeshi documents, i.e., national ID card of Bangladesh, the statement added. The suspects were apprehended, and after thorough verification and enquiry, the necessary legal formalities were done, leading to their deportation through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

Notably, on May 22, India urged Bangladesh to expedite the nationality verification process to facilitate the deportation of a large number of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in India who are required to be sent back. This month, Delhi Police detained six Bangladeshi women from different parts of the national capital and busted a racket trafficking people from the neighbouring country into India.

Authorities confirmed that the detained women were residing in India without valid documentation and will be deported. Earlier this month, at least five Bangladeshi citizens were arrested and later pushed back by security personnel in Assam’s South Salmara district on the charges of illegal infiltration.

Bombay High Court Grants Temporary Reprieve To Turkish Aviation Ground Handler Celebi After Bureau of Civil Aviation Security Revoked Its Security Clearance Over National Security Concerns

bombay high court celebi operation sindoor

On 26 May 2025, the Bombay High Court issued an interim order directing Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) to temporarily halt all actions related to the awarding of new contracts for ground and bridge handling services at Mumbai’s international airport. The decision brought a temporary reprieve for Turkish aviation ground handler Celebi, which is currently embroiled in a legal and diplomatic controversy.

Justice Somasekhar Sundaresan clarified that no final steps should be taken on the tender process until Celebi’s petitions are reviewed after the court’s summer recess in June.

The case arises in the wake of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) revoking Celebi’s security clearance earlier in May, citing national security concerns. This move has led to the abrupt termination of the company’s contracts at multiple airports across India.

The clearance revocation appears to follow heightened diplomatic tensions, particularly after Turkey expressed support for Pakistan following India’s Operation Sindoor—an anti-terrorism military response.

In Mumbai, Celebi Nas Airport Services India, which manages key ground and bridge handling operations and holds a 59% stake in its joint venture, has challenged both the BCAS directive and MIAL’s subsequent termination of agreements. The company has filed three separate petitions, arguing that the government’s actions are arbitrary, disproportionate, and legally unfounded.

Celebi has requested the court to nullify the BCAS order, reinstate its terminated agreements—including the Bridge Mounted Equipment Service Agreement, Ground Handling Services contract, and the Concession Agreement—and stop MIAL from proceeding with a new tender issued on 17 May.

Similar legal action is underway in Delhi, where Celebi’s sister companies—Celebi Airport Services India and Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India—have turned to the Delhi High Court after losing their operational contracts at the capital’s airport.

Supreme Court Rejects TN HR&CE’s Plea On Nandeeswarar Temple; Upholds Madras High Court’s Ban On Commercial Use Of Temple Funds

In a significant setback for the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, the Supreme Court of India has rejected its Special Leave Petition, effectively upholding a pivotal ruling by the First Bench of the Madras High Court. This judgment puts a firm stop to the construction of commercial complexes using temple funds and properties.

Case Overview

On 9 January 2025, the First Division Bench of the Madras High Court, headed by the Chief Justice, delivered a landmark decision that nullified the tender process for building a commercial complex on land and with funds belonging to Sri Nandeeswarar Temple in Nandivaram village, Chengalpet District. The court emphasized that under the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1959, surplus temple funds must only be used for clearly defined religious or charitable purposes, not for commercial development.

The case originated from a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by temple devotee P. Baskar, who challenged the legality of the proposed commercial project. Represented by Advocate B. Jagannath, the petitioner argued that the HR&CE Act restricts the use of temple funds to activities like promoting Hindu religious practices, feeding devotees (annadhanam), and supporting the poor through free marriages—citing Sections 36(1), 36(A), 36(B), and 66(1) of the Act.

The Bench also considered a contempt petition (Cont. P. 3306 of 2024) against HR&CE officials for allegedly defying a court-issued interim stay, which had earlier barred any progress on the construction. The High Court extended the stay and consolidated both matters for hearing.

Government representatives—including the HR&CE Commissioner, Chengalpet District Collector, and other officials—were represented by Government Pleader Edwin Prabhakar and Special Government Pleader Arun Natarajan. During proceedings, the SGP informed the court that a five-member trustee board was being constituted, and assured that the commercial space would exclude alcohol, meat, and tobacco vendors, focusing only on temple-related products.

Despite these assurances, Advocate Jagannath asserted that the legality of such a commercial undertaking couldn’t be justified, as the HR&CE Act does not permit the use of temple funds for such purposes. He maintained that the absence of a direct provision for commercial construction rendered the project unlawful.

Court’s Observations

The Bench concurred with the petitioner’s arguments and noted the lack of a feasibility study or economic assessment from the HR&CE Department. It observed that investing surplus funds in fixed deposits could yield better financial returns—about 7.5%—without compromising legal compliance.

In its judgment, the court annulled the tender notice and directed that any existing structures on the property be repurposed strictly in line with the HR&CE Act—such as facilities for free marriages or annadhanam sheds. With that, the court concluded the writ petition and the associated contempt case.

Wider Impact

This verdict is seen as a major victory for devotees and a serious blow to unauthorized use of temple assets. It reinforces that temple funds must strictly be used for religious and charitable functions as outlined by law. The ruling also has broader implications, potentially influencing similar cases—such as proposed commercial ventures at temples in places like Thiruvannamalai.

This decision is being widely celebrated as a crucial measure in safeguarding temple resources from mismanagement and ensuring adherence to the legal framework governing religious institutions in Tamil Nadu.
