Transgender activist harassed by goons connected to ruling establishment in TN, police allegedly show apathy

Transgender activist threatened in Mamallapuram

A representative of the south regional National Council for Transgender Persons was allegedly abused and threatned by a group of people, who owe allegiance to a political party, near Mamallapuram. Gopi Shankar Madurai, who lives in the area, was allegedly threatened by 6 unidentified persons who are purportedly connected to a Political party, while he was walking back to his residence.

On Friday night, when Gopi Shankar was taking a stroll after dinner, near his residence, following all COVID-19 protocols, a group of 6 people came in bikes with political stickers, and threatened and harassed him, obstructing his path.

“6 people who belonging to the DMK – alliance party MDMK obstructed my way and started abusing and threatening me with death. They said they are close to Mallai Satya MLA from MDMK. On my opposition, they started mishandling me physically and pushing me away. They continuously abused verbally and mishandled me physically for around 20 minutes.” Gopi said speaking to The Commune.

“Despite my opposition, they started manhandling. They continuously abused and threatened me for nearly 20 minutes. After that, I managed to alert the police. A police patrol vehicle reached the spot but they did not take any action against them,” he said.

Gopi Shankar, who then visited the Police Station immediately after, to file a complaint, was not received properly by the police too. The Police who seemed very indifferent in their response said that they were ‘bigshots’ of Mamallapuram. They then asked Gopi to come the next day morning to register a complaint.

A senior officer in the station has said that necessary action would be taken after due enquiry. “Despite my official status, which is on a par with the Under Secretary to the Government of India, the police personnel in the station did not respect me nor took any affirmative action,” he charged.

South Korea’s largest Buddhist order protest against govt for bias, instigate religious conflicts and promote Christianity

In South Korea, which was once a Buddhist country, thousands of monks, belonging to the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism (the largest Buddhist sect in South Korea) protested against President Moon Jae-in and called his government’s anti-Buddhist bias and discriminatory state policies.

The monks took to the streets in Seoul today Friday (January 21), protesting against President Moon Jae-in and alleging that the policies of the current Korean regime discriminate Buddhists and also about a state-sponsored campaign to promote Christian carols.

In December 2021, the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism hosted a nation-wide carol promotion campaign and the Jogye Order criticised the event and called it an explicit promotion of a specific religion by the government using taxpayer funds.

As many as 5000, staged protests at Jogyesa, the chief temple of the Jogye Order, and called for the enactment of laws to prevent further religious bias against Buddhism and measures to preserve its national heritage.

“The government is to preserve cultural heritages, but it now dares to instigate religious conflicts and shift the responsibility,” Ven. Wonhaeng, the head of the Jogye Order, said during the rally held at Jogye Temple.

However, what promoted these protests was a very anti-Buddhist remark by the ruling party lawmaker, Jung Chung-rai of the ruling Democratic Party who compared Buddhist temples as “cultural asset viewing fees” to a legendary swindler known for selling river water for money.

Jung initially refused to apologise but when he did offer an apology, the Jogye Order refused it.

Buddhism has been under attack after the end of the Second World War in South Korea when American Evangelists came and converted the majority of the population to Christianity to various denominations.

Recently, the Jogye Order criticized a plan by the local government to designate “Cheonjinam Pilgrimage Route” as a Catholic site, despite its historic significance to both Buddhists and Catholics.

“Buddhism survived the Joseon Kingdom for about 500 years and it is necessary to tell everyone that the religion should not be treated unfairly,” Ven. Wonhaeng, the president of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism and the head of a special committee for the rally, said during the order’s meeting on Jan. 6.

“None should undergo the trauma that my girl went through”: Minor Hindu girl’s parents allege forced conversion and torture by school

Lalita (name changed), a 17 year old girl studying at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School in Thirukattupalli near Thanjavur, committed suicide by drinking pesticideafter she was allegedly tortured to convert to Christianity by the school for her to continue her studies.

In her dying declaration, a video of which went viral on social media, the girl said that she was asked to convert to Christianity by the school if she wanted to continue her studies further.

This has now once again been reemphasized by the girl’s parents who while addressing reporters today said that their daughter was forced to convert and tortured.

“Our girl was forced to convert and tortured. She is no more with us. We want justice. She was made to clean toilets. They had really tortured her so much because of which she was really disheartened and died. We want justice for our daughter. We will take the body of our girl only if those two (Rochelin Mary and Sagaya Mary) are arrested.”, the parent said.

“Our girl herself is no more. What are we going to do anymore? No one else should undergo what my girl went through. Let my girl be the first and last. The injustice that happened to my daughter should not happen to anyone else. They should take action for that.” , she lamented.

One of the reporter can be heard repeatedly drilling the lady and trying to thrust his views in an attempt to corner her and questioning the claims of religious conversion.

The lady conveys that there was no need for her to lie adding that they were being forced to convert for two years and that the school had reached out to them as well. She also says that they even tried to change school after class 10 but could not do because of COVID-19 restrictions. When the reporter tried to drill further, the visibly agitated parent left.

Contrary to the statements of the deceased girl and her parents, Thanjavur Superintendent of Police Ravali Priya IPS had organized a press meet on 20 January 2022 and announced that there was no religious conversion angle in the case.

She said that the girl’s statement to the police makes no mention of forced conversion. She had also threatened to take action on those who had shared the video of the girl on social media.

Later on January 21, she said that the police are investigating all angles, including the allegation that Lalita was facing pressure to convert to Christianity.

Complaint seeking disciplinary action filed against Thanjavur SP for allegedly trying to mislead investigation of minor Hindu girl’s suicide

A complaint has been filed with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to take disciplinary action against Ravali Priya IPS, Superintendent of Police of Thanjavur District, for allegedly trying to mislead the investigation of a minor Hindu girl’s suicide who was reportedly subjected to harassment and forced religious conversion.

The complaint filed by the legal activism organization Legal Rights Protection Forum (LRPF), a copy of which has been accessed by The Commune, states that Ravali Priya IPS had organized a press meet on 20 January 2022 and uninvitedly announced that there was no religious conversion angle in the case.

“The statement given by the District SP while the investigation is underway and even though there is a strong prima facie available is raising suspicion that the investigation in the case is being misled.  The parents of the deceased girl, in their complaint clearly mentioned that their daughter was forced to convert her religion to Christianity and stated that Sister Ms. Rocklin Mary and warden harassed her in this regard.”, the complaint letter addressed to the Union Home Secretary.

The complaint further adds that the investigation of the case is being misled in order to hide the religious conversion angle.

“Hence, we request you to order a thorough enquiry into the matter including the criminal conduct of Superintendent of Police and take suitable legal and disciplinary action against her.”, the complaint said adding that the officer has to be transferred during the investigation period.

QR codes to be put on API from Jan 2023, will help track genuine and counterfeit drugs

In a very important development pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry, the government has made it mandatory to put QR codes on Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) used in medicines and the new rule will be applicable from January 1, 2023.

This would allow helping in distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit drugs and it would be easy for government agencies to trace pharmaceutical firms and acquire information like if the formula has tampered and where is the origin of the raw material and where is the product going.

These are the guidelines: -It will be mandatory to put QR code on the API.
-The new rule will be applicable from January 1, 2023.
-Health Ministry issued notification.
-Now it will be easy to identify genuine and counterfeit medicines.
-The QR code will contain the manufacturer and batch number information.
-Expiry and importer information will also be available.

Medicines produced with counterfeit and low-quality APIs can be harmful to benefit patients that is why the DTAB i.e. Drugs Technical Advisory Board had approved this proposal in June 2019 and according to a government report, 20 per cent of the medicines made in India are fake and 3 per cent of medicines are of substandard quality.

The idea was proposed in 2011, however, due to the repeated refusal of pharma companies, a decision could not be reached as pharma companies were more concerned about the fact that different government departments would issue different guidelines.

However, in the face of the Covid pandemic and the need for transparency the demand from the companies that a uniform QR code should be implemented across the country, after which in the year 2019, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization prepared this draft and it clealry suggested to make QR code mandatory for APIs.

25 Islamist Terrorists Who Prove Education Doesn't Prevent Radicalization jihadi terror

The analysis of US military hardware finding its way into Kashmir is now a reality, after Islamic jihadi terrorists, released a video wherein American-made rifles and pistols can be seen being used by the terrorists.

In the new year, six foreign terrorists have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir by security forces in different operations, and all of them were carrying US-made M4 carbine rifles which is one of the most powerful assault rifles in the world.

In a video released by a new terror group named People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) which is being viewed as a front for either Lashkar e Taiba or Jaish e Mohammad and in that video, several terrorists can be seen using M249 automatic rifles 509 tactical guns, M1911 pistols, and M4 carbine rifles and all these weapons are used by the American army.

After the US forces left Afghanistan in August and handed power back to the Taliban, they also left a large number of arms and ammunition which the Taliban took, and now they are being sold openly by the Taliban in Afghanistan and the number one buyer are the terror groups operating from Pakistan and sending them across the border to Kashmir Valley.

According to security forces, some 85 foreign terrorists are operating in the Kashmir valley and these foreign terrorists have been carrying American assault rifles, pistols, grenades, etc that are sent from across the border with the help of drones.

Though many such attempts have been foiled by the security forces on the border, some do manage to reach the hands of the Islamic terrorists and now such sophisticated weaponry is a new challenge for the security forces in the Kashmir Valley as these weapons are a force multiplyer.
