PM Modi to lay the foundation stone of Noida International Airport on November 25

Uttar Pradesh is poised to become the only state in India to have five international airports, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh on 25 November, 2021 at 1 PM.

The development of the airport is in line with the vision of the Prime Minister towards boosting connectivity and creating a future-ready aviation sector. A special focus of this grand vision has been on the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) that is witnessing the development of multiple new international airports including the recently inaugurated Kushinagar airport and the under construction international airport at Ayodhya.

This airport will be the second international airport to come up in Delhi NCR. It will help decongest the IGI Airport. It is strategically located and will serve the people of cities including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Agra, Faridabad and neighbouring areas.

The airport will be the logistics gateway of northern India. Due to its scale and capacity, the airport will be a gamechanger for UP. It will unleash the potential of UP to the world, and help establish the state on the global logistics map. For the first time, an airport in India has been conceptualised with an integrated multi modal cargo hub, with a focus on reducing the total cost and time for logistics. The dedicated cargo terminal will have a capacity of 20 lakh metric tonne, which will be expanded to 80 lakh metric tonne. Through facilitating seamless movement of industrial products, the airport will play a crucial role in helping the region attract huge investments, boost rapid industrial growth, and enable reach of local products to national and international markets. This will bring new opportunities for numerous enterprises, and also create tremendous employment opportunities.

The airport will develop a Ground Transportation Centre that will feature a multimodal transit hub, housing metro and high-speed rail stations, taxi, bus services and private parking. This will enable seamless connectivity of the airport with road, rail, and metro. Noida and Delhi will be connected to the airport through hassle free metro service. All major nearby roads and highways like the Yamuna Expressway, Western Peripheral Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and others will be connected to the airport. The airport will also be linked to the planned Delhi-Varanasi High Speed Rail, enabling the journey between Delhi and airport in only 21 minutes.

The airport will also house a state-of-art MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhauling) Service. The design of the airport is focussed on low operating costs and seamless and fast transfer processes for passengers. The airport is introducing a swing aircraft stand concept, providing flexibility for airlines to operate an aircraft for both domestic and international flights from the same contact stand, without having to re-position the aircraft. This will ensure quick and efficient aircraft turnarounds at the airport, while ensuring a smooth and seamless passenger transfer process.

It will be India’s first net zero emissions airport. It has earmarked dedicated land to be developed as forest park using trees from the project site. NIA will preserve all native species and be nature positive throughout the development of the airport.

The development of the first phase of the airport is being done with a cost of over Rs 10,050 crore. Spread over more than 1300 hectares of land, the completed first phase of the airport will have a capacity to serve around 1.2 crore passengers a year and work on it is scheduled to be completed by 2024. It will be executed by the international bidder Zurich Airport International AG as concessionaire. The groundwork for the first phase regarding land acquisition and rehabilitation of the affected families has been completed.

Muslims who vandalized Hindu temple in Pakistan demand their fine be paid by Hindus

One of the few Hindu temples that are still functioning in Pakistan was vandalized by a Muslim mob on December 2020, in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Hindus in that area are now being pressured by the Muslim Clerics to pay the fines on behalf of more than 100 people who actively took part in this attack.

The under-siege minority Hindu community in Pakistan is now under a lot of pressure by clerics and the majority Muslim population to pay fines on behalf as they have already paid fines for 11 key accused totalling Rs 30 lakh (around INR 12.5 lakh) for that attack that took place on 30 December.

As per news reports, thousands of men, led by Islamic religious clerics, arrived at the temple located in the village of Teri in Karak district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region and systematically began to rip apart the temple’s brick by brick and then set it on fire.

The temple was more than 100 years old and was built in 1919 and as per earlier reports the same temple was attacked in 1997 too but, after an order by Pakistan’s Supreme Court, it was renovated in 2015.

The temple even after the Supreme Court verdict has always remained under threat from extremist Muslims and this time the attack happened over suspicion that the temple management was ‘expanding’ the premises and the caretaker of the temple had built a room adjoining the temple to live in.

According to the police, the mob had gathered promising a ‘peaceful’ protest, but incendiary speeches evoked by clerics triggered them into vandalism and violence.

In a report published yesterday (22 November), Pakistan newspaper The Express Tribune has quoted “a Hindu leader” as saying that the Hindu community had to pay fines for 11 men including Jamait Ulemai-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) district Amir Maulana Mir Zaqeem, former district nazim Karak Rehmat Salam Khattak and Maulana Sharifullah.

Now all the 123 other accused are demanding that the Hindu community pay their fines too and the local administrative head was not helping Hindus rebuild the temple, as he is under the thumb of the clerics who are creating hurdles in the temple’s reconstruction.

As per data, only 30 functional temples are there in Pakistan, the rest have been demolished and taken over.

An office-bearer of the Popular Front of India (PFI) was arrested in connection to the murder of Kerala RSS worker Sanjith, in Palakkad district. Sanjith (27), the Block Secretary of RSS, was hacked to death on November 15th, while he was taking his wife to her workplace. Sanjith’s wife said that she could identify the people who came in a car and killed her husband.

The district police chief R Vishwanad said that the arrested was directly in the killing of A Sanjith at Mambaram. He also said that the other culprits will be arrested soon. The identity of the member is not yet revealed because his identification parade has to be conducted as a part of the investigation.

Earlier, the Police had revealed that they had taken 3 other people into custody in connection with the case. The accused were identified as Subair, Salam and Isahak. All of them are natives of the Palakkad district in Kerala.

Meanwhile, BJP state chief K Surendran met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, seeking a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the killing. Kerala: Trade unionist father upset over daughter’s relationship with Dalit Christian, causes political pain for CM

In the communist state of Kerala that boasts of equality, a 23-year-old woman by the name of Anupama S Chandran had alleged that her parents gave away her 1-year-old child without her consent for adoption as the biological father is a Dalit Christian.

This alleged forced adoption case has turned into a major political problem for Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who always harps about equality in his state.

As per reports, the father of the child is a ‘Dalit-Christian’ named Ajith and Anupama claimed that her parents were against her marriage to Ajith due to their prejudice against Dalits.

However, the girl’s parents were against this relationship because Ajith was already married at that time and was yet to get divorced from his estranged wife. After the child was born out of wedlock, it became a serious issue between Anupama and her parents.

The woman alleged that her father S Jayachandran had handed over her son who was born in October 2020, to an orphanage run by Kerala State Council for Child Welfare in Thiruvananthapuram.

Anupama then made a serious charge and claimed that the orphanage bypassed adoption rules and gave away her child to foster parents in Andhra Pradesh in August this year, without seeking her consent.

The whole incident came into the limelight on October 20, 2021, when Anupama filed a complaint with the police and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered in the case and 6 people, including the girl’s parents, were booked by the cops.

However, Anupama’s father has claimed that she had signed on stamp paper confirming the same but the mother refuted the claims and said that she was forced to sign under duress.

Now the quasi-judicial body, the Kerala Child Welfare Committee (KCWC) has directed authorities to produce the ‘adopted child’ within 5 days and a DNA test will be done to determine the biological parents.

The problem is now political in nature because Jayachandran is a senior leader CITU, the trade union wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the daughter Anupama was also a former leader of the Students’ Federation of India, the student wing of the Communist Party and the father of her child, Ajith, is also associated with the CPIM.

Sabarimala ‘Halal’ Jaggery controversy: Kerala High Court seeks report from Food Safety Department

The Kerala High Court, on Monday has directed the Commissioner of Food Safety to give an explanation regarding the ongoing controversy that ‘stale halal jaggery’ is being used at Sabarimala to prepare neivedyam and prasadam.

The controversy reached the High Court after SJR Kumar, the general convener of the Sabarimala Action Committee — a group formed after the 2018 Supreme Court judgment permitting entry of women of all ages into the temple — alleged in a petition that the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), was using halal-certified jaggery in the preparation of prasadam at Sabarimala.

The petitioner had written, “The use of Halal certified food materials, which is specifically prepared as per the religious beliefs of another community, is not a Satwik/pure material to be offered to Lord Ayyappa, a Naishtika Brahmachari meditating in Yoga asana.”

When the Kerala High Court asked the TDB authorities for a report, they said that the claims are absolutely false, baseless and are made purposefully with the malicious intention to hamper the sale of prasadams during the pilgrimage season. Reports say that the revenue from the sale of the two prasadams, ‘Appam’ and ‘Aravana’ account to almost 50% of the temple’s earnings in the annual pilgrimage season.

TDB explained that ‘halal’ — an Arabic word that translates as “permissible” in English — mentioned on the jaggery packaging was due to the fact that the company from which the said consignment was obtained also exported jaggery to Arab countries, where the rules mandate the sale of halal foods per Islamic rules. They also argued that materials used for preparing the prasadam underwent strict quality checks twice before being distributed to the public.

Today, a division bench comprising of Justice Anil K Narendran and Justice PG Ajithkumar sought response from the Food Safety Department in a plea seeking assurity that only high-quality Satwik materials are used for the preparation of Prasadam/neivedyam at the Sabarimala temple. The matter will be taken up again on Wednesday by which time the report is to be made available.

Meanwhile, Indu Makkal Katchi chief, Arjun Sampath, bought the issue to notice by tweeting about the controversy. In a thread of tweets, Arjun Sampath exposed the reality behind how ‘Halal’ food was made and cautioned saying, “Before you touch that next plate of Biryani…. It’s halal only if they spit on the food! Submissions at the court!” Check out the full tweet here:
