The Untold Costs Of The Adani Saga

Adani Power's Stock Has Upside Potential Of 54.5% In Next 24 Months: Ventura

Now that Adani has been publicly vilified, the media has moved on to the more sensational. The shelf-life of the issue is past its best before date and the Opposition has moved on to the more cringe-worthy. Now is perhaps a good time to look back at the past few months and pick up the pieces.

Granted, the allegations against Adani are not frivolous, and they have killed the largest ever FPO (Follow-on Public Offer) in India, despite it being consummated and later cancelled. Big picture, if what Adani is accused of is illegal, we should see that the law takes its course. If it is not illegal, but unethical, then it is a valuable lesson for Adani and many more businesses, big and small, on how to build better business models. As for the stock markets, the investors will make an evaluation as they should, both in the short term and the long term.

But if there has been an unfair malicious targeting of one of the largest business houses of India, sadly, somewhere something big has broken, and there are too many pieces to pick up. Here are five.

The Indian Growth Story

The immediate impact is of stalling the growth of one of India’s largest infrastructure development companies. Even if Adani survives the scare, the pace has been affected, and affected badly. This, at a time, when we needed growth in all forms, post-pandemic, to regain our stride. Infrastructure development has a multiplier effect on the economy that few other sectors do.

The Marriage Between Government And Business

Claiming an unholy alliance between the ruling dispensation and Adani has impacted the political psyche of the nation in deeper ways than is obvious. Political parties dithering on dealing with businesses, big or small, damages the critical link between policy and economy. Gone are the days, when “profit” was a bad word, when businesses had to line up for a license, when businessmen were shunned publicly, and the State was perennially at war with enterprise. That ship has sailed long back. Today, our political leaders and the Government must engage more deeply with business leaders for nation building without being apologetic. As is said, “it is the economy, stupid”. Millions are currently being pulled out of poverty, thanks to the flourishing of our businesses, as they are today strongly buttressed by policy.

The Soul Of Enterprise

Imagine what entrepreneurs all over this budding start-up capital of the world are thinking now. That the nation which should be celebrating their chutzpah is sliding into one where almost everyone – citizens, media, investors, and regulators alike – is waiting for them to err. This does affect the “ease of doing business” here, much more than the rankings indicate. All entrepreneurs – new age or traditional, tech or non-tech, funded or bootstrapped – are building the nation, and must be celebrated, not denigrated.

The Attractiveness Of India

How long does it take for a business to relocate out of a country that appears hostile to its success? In a flat world of easy movement of capital, labour and resources, not long. And we risk exactly that. The businessmen are here to prosper themselves and to create opportunities for others, and if we, as a nation, make it difficult for them, they will move faster than we think. This is not to say that we compromise with our values to accommodate them, whatever they do, but if the socio-political and economic psyche are off-putting, they will find other places beyond our borders.

The Psyche Of The People

The self-defeating response to the Adani saga by institutions is sadly echoed by the common man who is less privy to the nuances of the case. The overall mindset to criticise, not celebrate, success, unfortunately, is a vestige of our old socialist days of scarcity. Any success was then seen as suspicious, and the failures were ridiculed. Chasing or staying put in jobs was seen as smarter than the effort to create jobs. There is indeed a thin line between healthy scepticism and the crab mentality. The Adani debacle is not for any of us to celebrate, regardless of our proclivities. Nations that are skeptical will only meet, on their way down, those forgiving of the failings of their leaders on their way up.

These are the pieces that need to be found among the debris of this saga, as it still continues to play out. Can we glue them back together and build a nation based on celebration of our entrepreneurs? Our attitude, not time, will tell.

PTR Redacts His Statements On Guv Office Donating To Akshaya Patra

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan retracted his statement on the amount of money donated to Akshaya Patra by the Raj Bhavan after realizing that quoted incorrect numbers in the Assembly a few days ago.

On 30 March 2023, DMK Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan accused the Governor’s office of financial irregularities during a discussion on grant demand. He said that the Raj Bhavan transferred ₹4 crores to a private NGO Akhsya Patra flouting norms.

PTR said, “Out of the ₹5 crores discretionary allocation in the fiscal year 2019-20, ₹4 crores has been transferred to Akshaya Patra (an NGO providing mid-day meals for school children) in two installments of ₹2 crores in 2019. There is no transparency over how and where the remaining fund of ₹1 crore is parked.”

PTR accused Raj Bhavan of multiple violations in the manner in which funds were transferred to the NGO. “There are two instances of fund transfers — ₹4 crores in 2019-20 and ₹1 crore in 2020-21 — to the Akshaya Patra Foundation. Later on, the scheme itself was shelved. It has proved to be a bad investment and an undemocratic practice,” PTR said in the Assembly.

However, PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan had to retract his statement about the amount transferred by Raj Bhavan to Akshaya Patra, as data had suggests otherwise.

The DMK often indulges in disrespecting the Governor post calling him a person who lives in a bungalow at the cost of the State exchequer. PTR himself had taken a jibe on the amount of money spent by different state governments on Governor in which Tamil Nadu topped.

However, for a change, PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan said that the DMK holds high regards for the Governor post and accordingly has raised the budgetary allocation for the office of Governor.

Speaking on the resolution criticizing Governor RN Ravi moved by CM MK Stalin in the Assembly, Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan on Monday (10 April 2023) said, “After we came to power, owing to our Hon’ble Chief Minister’s deep importance and respect he places on the post of Governor, budgetary allocation for the Governor’s Secretariat has increased from ₹2.41 crore to ₹2.82 crore last year and for this year ₹3.63 crore has been allocated.”

He added that the Governor’s household expenditure which was ₹11.6 crore when they came to power was increased to ₹15.93 crore last year and this year it has been raised to ₹16.69 crore.

He also said that the Discretionary Grant (as mandated by 1937 Finance Code) has increased from ₹1.57 lakhs in 2018-19 to ₹50 lakh in 3 months and thereafter ₹5 crore in provisionally revised estimates.

“I am bound to retract some of the statements I made that day in the House. That day, I said that Akshaya Patra has been twice awarded two crores.”, he said.

He added that the funds from Governor’s discretionary fund were originally transferred to Governor’s household accounts and not Akshaya Patra’s account. He added, “The funds were then transferred to other accounts, including to Akshaya Patra.”

PTR thus admitted to lying in the assembly about the transfer of 4 crores from the Governor’s discretionary fund to Akshaya Patra. However, no major news outlets have reported on how Finance Minister PTR lied before the entire Assembly before retracting it. Instead, they chose to highlight his statements on alleged violations of Finance Code by Raj Bhavan.

The Minister said that each member of the diaspora is an ambassador of India.

He said that the Indian Community in France can contribute to this journey of Amrit Kaal envisioned by the Prime Minister to see India as a developed Nation by 2047. He said that India must find its rightful place in the comity of Nations now as ‘this is the time, this is the right time’ as said by the Prime Minister.

Book Review: The Girl From Kathua: A Sacrificial Victim Of Ghazwa-e-Hind By Madhu Purnima Kishwar

The book pertains to a sensational crime in 2018 that shook India. An eight-year-old girl was kidnapped on January 10, 2018, gang-raped and murdered after being sedated for four days in a small village temple near Jammu. On June 10, 2019, a special court sentenced three people to life imprisonment “till last breath,” while three others were handed down five years in jail and a Rs 50,000 fine each. One juvenile was also convicted. The Hindu community has been demonized in the process, which panned out for months.

The book, “The Girl from Kathua: A Sacrificial Victim of Ghazwa-e-Hind” by Madhu Purnima Kishwar, claims to expose an underlying evil misinformation campaign and a sinister jihadi plot to persecute Hindus and change the religious demography of Jammu.

The book, a first on the case, investigates the case, starting from April 2018, wherein she found the “bizarre, absurd charge sheet full of gaping holes,” alleging that the police tortured hundreds of innocents into giving false testimonies. It took almost five years for the author to complete, amply showing the painstaking laborious research and, in the instant case, a hazardous one too. It relentlessly investigates the absurdities in the case and finds utmost callousness and even collusion among the powers that be. It went on to show how Mehbooba Mufti, often taking a cue from ISI, shepherded the narrative and saw to it that Hindus and India were vilified.

As Volume 2 of the book will likely be launched later in the year, the public will become more abreast of the case. There is a lot to learn from the book, especially about the looming civilizational crisis. Though the book deals with a particular incident, it holds true for larger Hindu interests. Hundreds of Hindu girls are routinely raped and murdered by Muslims every year all over the country, however, they barely make it to the front pages of the newspapers.

When I first heard about the case in 2018, there was a sense of disbelief in me. Firstly, Hindus are not known to deploy gang rape as a well-thought tool and that too in a temple. Secondly, gang rape was always used as a state policy to subjugate kafirs in the past 1300 years. Their mentality has not changed and it is still used, without fail, all over the Muslim world. However, let’s not talk about the feelings here.

The foremost lesson from the case and the book is how Muslims, not only in India but all over the world, become one to keep pagan Hindus under their boot. In their quest, Christians and secular Hindus give them full power, often without getting anything in return. The desert community’s sense of commitment is so strong that courts, police and even Sanatani politicians become acquiescent in their mission. I wish Hindus could imbibe even 1% of that commitment. On the contrary, most Hindus are infected with the Sulemani keeda in the propensity to capture high moral ground and to always look good in others’ eyes, even if it results in their genocide.

Secondly, the demography of hitherto virgin regions is being changed rapidly. After ejecting all Hindus from the valley, they want the Hindus of Jammu to relocate elsewhere in India. After Jammu, it will be the turn of Ladakh. And so on. Till Hindus have no other option but to jump into the Arabian Sea or the Bay of Bengal. States like Uttarakhand, the Dev Bhumi, Jammu and Himachal Pradesh are suddenly swarming with Rohingyas and other illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who have only one motive: Ghazwa-e-Hind, by hook or by crook. In this endeavour, they are well-funded by ISI and George Soros’s cabal.

Thirdly, Hindus are always on the losing side of information war. It doesn’t matter that all the CEOs of top companies in India and the US are Hindus. Despite writing codes for all the programs that run social media, Hindus cannot learn even the basics of new-age warfare. Earlier, we used to lose battles in the fields and now we are losing in cyberspace. The reasons remain the same. The first-mover (invader) in the war will always hold an advantage as he chooses the time and space of his convenience. The defendant can only react. That’s why 95% of all invasions in known history worldwide resulted in victory. The only way to counter such a narrative is to set it ourselves. Make those gangs scramble to react. The more you hear the word ‘Islamophobia,’ the more you do it right. Their only comeback words are: hate and Islamophobia. One glaring example wherein we did right:

This is the way a proactive narrative has to be channelised. Herein Rana Ayyub is only reacting to the narrative which has already been set.

Another subtle subtext from the book is that Hindus excel in conflict avoidance. From their childhood, they had been taught to avoid conflicts, even at the cost of self-respect. This parochial worldview had turned them into a soft community whom Muslims derisively call a lazy and effeminate race. Here, I concur with them. In totality, Hindus are in a severely disadvantageous position right now, despite being in the 75% majority. Nowhere else in the world majority is at the mercy of the minority.

It also brings forth the rampant wokeness and corruption among the judiciary in India. It has willy-nilly assumed the role of protector of every Muslim criminal and terrorist and consequently, most of the judgements go against the Hindus. Behind this mentality, two factors work: One, attendant shame of their own culture, which they think did nothing worthwhile in the past; two, impending praise from foreign countries, especially the Western ones. Way back in 2016, one of my Muslim colleagues remarked that only Supreme Court could save us. At that time, I thought that the “us” he was talking about was middle-class people. Only after a few months could I realize he was talking about Muslims.

The list of the people, appended at the end of the book, who have helped Islamists in this macabre endeavour certainly takes the breath away. Right from the Governor to the PMO office to the police officers to the judges, most of them are Hindus. Some are even staunch Sanatani and still helped willy-nilly build and propagate the nefarious narrative, not necessarily for some returns. The reasons for that have to be found urgently. In the garb of debilitating secularism, why do they become sitting ducks? The book also asks why Hindus are so eager to be co-conspirators with the Islamists who are hell-bent on destroying the country by implementing Ghazwa-e-Hind?

The civilisational crisis that Hindus constantly face is aptly summed up in the last chapter, ‘Tragic Consequences of Hindu Dhimmitude.’ It raises several pertinent questions for which answers have to be found by the leadership. The government has to realise that it got power not only for development but for correcting civilisational distortions also.

The language throughout the book is simple, fact-based, and never bordering on jingoism. The research has been backed up by a lot of screenshots, maps and tables for easy understanding. The book is hard-bound with excellent paper quality, which makes it eminently readable. The book can make someone’s blood boil if his/her blood flows in the right direction.

The only weakness I could find is its weight of more than a kilogram. A tome of 642 pages with a price tag of Rs 799 (Rs 649 after discount) will keep it out of the reach of the general public, who, in fact, need to know most about the truth of the case. The font size is a little large, and with a reduction of 0.5 with a bit of editing, around 100 pages could be slashed, and the book would become more market-friendly.

The ball is now on the side of the courts and politicians, who must take note of the meticulous research and ponder over the human rights of those seven people who are rotting away in jails for no fault.

Till then, Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb zindabad.

Reviewer is the author of the history books, Swift Horses Sharp Swords & A Never-Ending Conflict.

Disclaimer: The book was sent to me by its publisher, Garuda Prakashan, as a review copy a week back and probably, I am the first one to complete the tome, cover to cover.

DMK & Allies Backflip: Calls Off Protest In Front Of Raj Bhavan, To Conduct Public Meeting At Saidapet Condemning Governor

Here's What Official Documents Say About Playing Of National Anthem In TN Assembly

In yet another backflip by the ruling DMK, the Secular Progressive Alliance, led by the DMK, has called off a massive protest against Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi in front of Raj Bhavan. Instead of protesting in front of Raj Bhavan, the Secular Progressive Alliance has announced a public meeting in Saidapet’s Theradi Thidal.

The ruling DMK and its allies announced a massive protest against Governor R N Ravi on April 12 in front of the Raj Bhavan, after he said that foreign funding fueled anti-Sterlite protests.

According to the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), Ravi’s speeches and activities have been controversial and mysterious since assuming office in 2021.

A joint statement of Secular Progressive Alliance said, “Our struggle will not cease until he stops activities that lower the Assembly’s dignity.” On April 5, Ravi had stoked fresh controversy by remarking that foreign funds had fuelled the protests against Sterlite plant in Thoothukudi and Kudankulam nuclear power plant. While addressing civil service aspirants in Raj Bhavan, Ravi said such protests were aimed at hindering progress Forgetting that he was a Governor, Ravi has been “desperate to project himself as a representative of the BJP and RSS.”

DMK and its allies further said, “To say that the Kudankulam (nuclear power plant) and Sterlite protests were driven by funds from abroad is a denigration of the Tamil Nadu people. These are people’s struggles in which lakhs (of them) took part. What is the ulterior motive behind diverting such protests as a foreign conspiracy. His opinions in support of Sanathana (Dharma) and Varnasrama method on public platforms are ridiculous.”

The alliance’s joint statement was signed by DMK treasurer T R Baalu, Dravidar Kazhagam chief K Veeramani, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K S Alagiri, MDMK general secretary Vaiko, and state secretaries of CPI(M) and CPI K Balakrishnan and R Mutharasan, respectively.

In this situation, in what is seen as a backflip by the ruling DMK and its allies, the secular progressive alliance has not only called off the protest in front of the Raj Bhavan but also converted it into a public meeting at Saidai Theradi Thidal on April 12th.

In a joint statement released by the DMK, the alliance described the assent given by the governor to the online rummy banning bill as their “first victory”. It also stated that a public meeting will be held to condemn the Governor for failing to give assent to other pending bills and for failing to express regret or clarify his remarks about the Sterlite protest or Sanathan dharma.

SC Gives Green Signal To RSS March In Tamil Nadu; Setback For DMK Govt

In a major setback for the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, the Supreme Court of India has granted permission to the Rashtriya Swayam sevak sangh to take out marches in the state. The decision has come as a setback for the state government which had initially appealed in the High Court to stop the RSS marches and the High Court had also given the decision in favour of the RSS.

The State government approached the Supreme Court against the decision of the High Court. It was on February 10 that the Madras High Court had allowed it to take out marches after the state government headed by Stalin had refused as it was of the view that according to intelligence reports the banned Muslim organisation Popular Front of India (PFI), might attack these marches.

Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani who appeared on behalf of the RSS had rightly highlighted that the State had given permission to the protest by marches by other organisations, such as Dalit panthers and the ruling DMK party and why was RSS being singled out.

Jethmalaini further questioned as to why RSS was not allowed to carry out the march since PFI was already banned. He further added that no incidents of violence were reported in the marches that were carried out by the RSS and also informed the court that the RSS members were attacked where they were peacefully sitting.

It was in October 2022 that the RSS had sought permission to carry out the marches so as to mark the occasion of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and Gandhi Jayanti.

Earlier a bench comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice Pankaj Mithal had heard the parties on three occasions and had reserved its judgement on March 27th, 2023.

Kalakshetra Student Says TNM Is Peddling Propaganda, Alleges Selective Reporting Of Facts

An anonymous Twitter user (named Believeinkarma – @karmayogi_06) claiming to be a Kalakshetra alumni who apparently spent seven years at the institution has stated that The News Minute’s statements in their video titled “Kalakshetra sexual harassments case – Let me explain by Anna Issac” are full of lies and malicious propaganda. The handle called The News Minute as fake news portal.

The News Minute published a video describing the Kalakshetra case on April 8th. In what appears to be a smear campaign against the institute, TNM levelled numerous unsubstantiated charges against Kalakshetra to make it appear like the entire administration of Kalakshetra is filled with sexual abusers and their saviors, and that students have no one to complain to about the harrassment.

A former student who did not want to reveal his/her identity exposed the TNM’s malicious lies in their video against Kalakshetra.

In the video, TNM said, “Care Spaces, an NGO that works to ensure safe working conditions and provides support to survivors, created a listening space for students, faculty, alumni, and others to speak about the allegations. Care Spaces said that they received over a 100 narrative that reveal frustrations and fear towards institutions decision makers due to their open support of the alleged abusers.”

Responding to TNM’s allegation, the handle Believeinkarma stated that the CareSpace, which TNM quotes in the video, has a vested interest because it is run by Janani Ramesh, best friend of Indu Nidheesh, another dancer in Kalakshetra who are alleged to be behind instigating the students in order to move up the power ladder within Kalakshetra.

It is worth mentioning that the ‘power play’ angle on the Kalakshetra protest was provided by dancer Hari Padman and his wife during a police interrogation. Hari Padman said during police investigation “Among professors in Kalakshetra, there is not only competition with respect to work but also for power. Some are ready to do anything to become the Director. I am of the opinion that this power play has resulted in these complaints. Many students have been manipulated into giving this complaint.”

This accusation of the handle Beliveinkarma on TNM simply lends seems to lend credence to the dancer Hari Padman’s statement.

TNM claimed in their video claimed that an autorium meeting was held in January 2023, during which Kalakshetra director Revathi Ramachandran asked students to speak out about sexual harassment charges against professors. TNM went on to say that students were unable to speak up as the alleged abuser, Hari Padman, was also present at the meeting.

However, Believeinkarma handle said that there was no auditorium meeting in January to discuss the sexual harassment issue, as alleged by TNM, but rather an annual POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) conference led by lawyer BS Ajeetha. “It was Nirmala and others who humiliated a student and a teacher with their disgusting queries,” the handle continued. (From the tweet it is inferred that the gang opposite to Hari Padman was the one who humiliated the students during the January conference.)

Insiders say that the core issue is of three teachers namely – Nirmala Nagarajan, Nandini Nagarajan and Indhu Nideesh – who harbour professional rivalry against Haripadman. A majority of the students who are aware of the drama have refused to come out and have chosen to remain silent fearing reprisal from the other side.

As the internal committee, which included even the leftist lawyer Ajeetha, found no evidence of sexual harassment, the internal committee concluded that the allegation was without merit. It is important to mention that there was no formal complaint before the internal committee, and the committee was enquiring based on rumours in the campus.

As the committee found no merit in the charges, the Kalakshetra foundation imposed a gag order, warning those who spread rumors in campus with legal consequences. When the gag order was intended to discourage rumors, TNM portrayed it as an attempt to silence the victims. Questioning this propaganda of TNM , the Beliveinkarma handle asked, “What’s wrong with the Director asking people to stop gossiping? Nirmala Nagarajan, Nandini Nagaraj, Indu Nideesh, and Rekha Menon are the main gossips in Kalakshetra.”

TNM also said that the PoSH had refused to take complaints of male students as the PoSH is gender specific. They added that this drawback is a lacuna in PoSH law, and that the institution should have taken up the complaint of male students under a general grievances redressal mechanism.

“This raises two logical questions: who ought to amend the PoSH law if there is a lacuna, the government or Kalakshetra, and why is TNM portraying a flaw in the law as Kalakshetra’s fault?”, asked a lawyer closely following the case.

TNM also accused Kalakshetra of trying to silence voices and shielding the accused as the director of the institute Revathi Ramachandran was also heading the internal committee. Why is this wrong, asked the Twitter handle Believeinkarma, given that the law does not prohibit a director from heading on an internal committee under the PoSH law. The handle asked, “Why should the director not head the IC? There are no complaints of sexual harrasment against the director. So what is the problem?”

The handle also questioned the TNM’s claim that there is no safe space on campus for students, saying, “No safe space for students? They spend all of their time protesting and isolating Haripadman’s supporters. They’re free to roam while Haripadman’s wife awaits her husband’s return.”

The handle also added that those three dancers were summarily been dismissed were not entitled to a hearing or enquiry. “Is this what you call justice?” Beliveinkarma questioned.

Beliveinkarma concluded by saying, “you(TNM) are a FAKE NEWS portal & despite your venom, truth will triumph.”

Nearly 9% Of Electricity Likely To Be Contributed From India’s Nuclear Sources By 2047

India's Nuclear Power Capacity Has Doubled In The Last 10 years.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that nearly 9% share of electricity is likely to be contributed from India’s nuclear sources by the year 2047 when India celebrates 100 years of independence and that this would help in getting closer with the commitment of achieving net zero target by 2070.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh made these remarks after holding a review meeting with a group of senior scientists from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Department of Atomic Energy, at Mumbai.

The Minister said that the other targets laid down by the Department of Atomic Energy are achieving 20 GW capacity of nuclear power generation by the year 2030 which will be a major milestone placing India as the third largest producer of atomic energy in the world after the USA and France.

Dr Jitendra Singh mentioned that the credit for this rapid stride goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who for the first time after Independence took the decision of approving 10 reactors in fleet mode in a single order and allowed nuclear installations to be developed under joint ventures with PSUs as a result, today India is sixth largest in the world in the number of reactors that are functional and second largest in the total number of reactors including those under construction.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, one hallmark of the Modi regime is that for the first time, in a big way, the atomic energy is being used for applications in diverse sectors like, for example, for increasing shelf life of fruits like apple and agriculture products, for using latest technologies in treatment of Cancer and other diseases etc. He said, India has shown the world the way for using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Spotlight On The South: PM Modi’s Sojourn Of The Tri-State Area

Last week was an exclusive Southern extragavanza for Prime Minister Modi, whose hectic schedule across three South Indian states, included diverse activities ranging from inauguration of new/expanded transportation services and development projects, participation in an important milestone of a historic Hindu organization to celebrating nature and wildlife.

Mr. Modi’s packed schedule for his visit to Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, came against the backdrop of a BJP political master stroke – a number of Congress leaders joining the BJP and a few celebrities pledging their support, adding to the woes of a party already embarrassed and weakened by multiple desertions and defections:

1) Kiran Kumar Reddy, ex-Andhra Pradesh (undivided A.P) Congress leader
and former chief minister, has joined the BJP.

2) C R Kesavan, Tamil Nadu Congress leader and great-grand son of C Rajagopalachari, freedom fighter and Congress stalwart from Gandhi’s time, having held several important party as well as government positions, opted to join the BJP.

3) Anil Anthony, elder son of Kerala Sr. Congress leader and former Union Minister, A.K Anthony has joined the BJP.

4) In poll bound Karnataka, current Lok Sabha MP (Independent) from Mandya, actress Sumalatha, wife of late actor-politician, Ambareesh, has declared her support for the BJP.

5) Popular Kannada actor, Kiccha Sudeep has openly endorsed his support for current BJP chief minister, Basavaraj Bommai.

The first and last stops in his tri-state visit were the election bound states of Telangana and Karnataka which are scheduled for state elections in 2023.

Telangana: PM Modi’s visit to Telangana started out with the much awaited launch of the new Vande Bharat express train service from Hyderabad/Secunderabad to the famous Andhra Pradesh temple town of Tirupati, establishing the second Vande Bharat express train service between important cities of the two Telugu states. Incidentally, Andhra too goes to the polls in the first half of next year.

BJP’s political opponent in Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of the incumbent BRS party was conspicuously absent, as has been the case for a while now, indicative of heightened political rivalry between the BRS party and the BJP, ahead of the state elections.

The Telangana visit came just days after a high stakes drama of a stealthy, midnight arrest of the state’s BJP chief, Bandi Sanjay by the BRS government, claiming that he had played a role in the government’s failure to monitor and prevent any untoward incidents with question papers of the State Secondary School Board exams. The Telangana High Court granted bail to Bandi Sanjay and asked the state government to furnish acceptable proof of the leader’s alleged involvement, if any.

In the meanwhile, the state’s BJP has rubbished the claims of the BRS government and has stated that BRS leaders are trying to divert people’s attention away from the state’s failure to prevent the leakage of several secondary school Board exam papers, by blaming it on opposition parties. Some leaders also claimed that it may have been the BRS party’s retaliation ahead of Mr. Modi’s visit, for the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) investigation on K Kavitha’s role (CM K Chandrasekar Rao’s daughter) in the infamous Delhi Liquor scandal.

While in Hyderabad, the PM also inaugurated several developmental projects, including a new AIIMS institution for the state (All India Institute of Medical Sciences).

Tamil Nadu: PM Modi’s next stop was Chennai city, to inaugurate a swanky, new, terminal at the current International airport as well as flag off a new Vande Bharat express train service between Chennai and Coimbatore. His Chennai itinerary also included something of a personal passion – participation in the 125th anniversary of the Madras/Chennai city’s famed Ramakrishna Mission. Additionally, Mr.Modi signed off on a number of developmental projects as well.

Mr. Modi’s “Vannakam Chennai” visit appears to have been a successful one as evidenced by a large number of shared tweets. It also speaks of the rising recognition and popularity of the BJP in the state, headed by the charismatic, tough yet compassionate IPS officer, Mr. Annamalai. While TN’s state elections are not due for another three years, the Modi visit may help win more hearts and votes from the state, in the upcoming 2024 National /General elections.

In keeping with his style of personal interactions with ordinary Indians of humble backgrounds, the PM met the simple, rural couple, Bomman and Bellie at the Theppakadu elephant camp in the Mudumalai forest reserve (Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border), the central human characters in the 2023 Oscar winning documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’. The documentary tells the heartwarming story of the tribal couple’s relationship with an orphaned baby elephant.

Karnataka: With the state’s elections less than a month away, Mr.Modi’s visit is a definite morale booster for the Karnataka’s BJP leaders, cadre and supporters. The PM visited the Bandipur forest reserve in support of “Project Tiger”, an Indian wildlife succes story that was launched 50 years ago. This latest visit to Karnataka comes after several recent visits of Mr. Modi and other senior BJP leaders to the poll bound state, over the last year. He also met Bomman and Bellie of “The Elephant Whisperers” fame, emphasizing the government’s outreach to the tribal community.

On wrapping up a whirlwind tour of three South Indian states, it’s yet another “Mission Accomplished” for Indian PM, Modi who is widely acknowledged for his long, gruelling hours of hard work at age 72. His friends and colleagues have often remarked on Mr.Modi’s discipline, diligence and sense of duty towards India, in a bid to accomplish as much as possible for the nation, on any given day.
