The Sterlite plant in Thoothukudi started the production and supply of oxygen, from Wednesday (12 May), bringing relief to doctors and patients in 7 to 8 districts of south Tamil Nadu.
In the first phase of producing and supplying oxygen to hospitals in Tamil Nadu, about 5 tonnes of oxygen produced from Vedanta’s Sterlite Copper Plant in Thoothukudi was brought to the Government Hospital at Thoothukudi.
Now another 6.34 MT of medical oxygen has been dispatched to Thoothukudi Government Hospital. As per instructions from the nodal agency, another 6MT of oxygen will also be sent to the Kanyakumari Government Hospital, followed by 5 MT to the Tirunelveli Government Hospital.
