A bewildering and horrifying POCSO case is in the news. The accused businessman Gem Granites Veeramani has been accused of sexually assaulting minor girls over the years. And guess who we see him standing and blessing? Our very own DMK stooge actor Suriya and his Cockroach protest supporter wife Jyotika.
An old video from the actors’ wedding has resurfaced on social media, showing the couple bending down to seek the blessings of R. Veeramani, the founder of Gem Granites and his wife.
The video shows Suriya and Jyotika approaching Veeramani during their wedding ceremony and bending down before him.

For all the sermons that Suriya and Jyotika dole out to the public, to seek blessings from a serial child abuser, a child sexual assaulter speaks volumes of the type of people they respect and hold high regard.
Gem Veeramani POCSO Case Background
R. Veeramani, 84, founder of Gem Granites, is currently an accused in a POCSO case being investigated by the Chennai Police.
The case began in October 2025 after a child-rights worker received an anonymous envelope containing a note naming Veeramani and a pen drive allegedly containing footage of a minor girl being sexually abused. Police registered a case under Sections 7 and 8 of the POCSO Act on October 7 and questioned Veeramani, his associate M. Shanthi and others. Veeramani denied being the man shown in the video.
The initial probe failed to trace the girl featured in the footage, and police were also unable to recover the original recording from the property’s DVR. In February 2026, police filed a closure report, but the Special POCSO Court rejected it and ordered further investigation.
The case was subsequently reopened, leading to the arrest of Veeramani, Shanthi and her husband Mahendra Simhan on August 29. Police later traced the girl and recorded her statement before a Judicial Magistrate. Police said she identified herself and Veeramani in the footage.
The probe has since widened, with other alleged victims identified. A former Gem employee, Ganesan, was also arrested after police allegedly found another video involving Veeramani and a minor.
On September 24, Tamil Nadu Police formed a four-member all-woman SIT to investigate the case. Veeramani remains in judicial custody until October 9.
