The official institutionalisation of the All India Dhanush Fans Welfare Association and the unveiling of its unified flag have reignited speculation that Dhanush could be following the organisational blueprint laid down by actor-turned-politician Vijay. The move seems to be a result of the Vijay effect – much similar to how Vijay first consolidated his fan base under the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI) before eventually launching Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
For years, the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam functioned as more than a conventional fan club. It was transformed into a disciplined grassroots network engaged in welfare activities, local outreach and organisational expansion across Tamil Nadu. By the time Vijay announced TVK, the organisational machinery and volunteer base were already in place.
Dhanush’s latest move has inevitably invited comparisons. The newly unveiled flag features a bold red-and-white design with the actor in a folded-hands pose, giving the organisation a distinct visual identity that resembles the branding traditionally associated with political movements in Tamil Nadu. More importantly, the launch formally brings his fan network under a single institutional framework rather than leaving it as a loose collection of local fan clubs.

As of now, the All India Dhanush Fans Welfare Association has clarified that the organisation’s present focus is on expanding charitable and social service activities. Dhanush himself has neither announced political ambitions nor commented on the speculation. Nevertheless, in a state where fan organisations have repeatedly evolved into political platforms, the institutionalisation of a fan movement, particularly after Vijay’s Makkal Iyakkam-to-TVK transition, has naturally fuelled questions over whether another Kollywood star is preparing for a larger public role.
