TN BJP Chief Annamalai Condemns Dharmapuri Farmer’s Murder, Calls Out DMK Govt’s Failure To Curb Alcohol-Related Crime

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party president Annamalai expressed his dismay upon learning about the tragic death of Saravanan, a farmer who was allegedly stabbed to death in the Karimangalam area of Dharmapuri district. The incident reportedly unfolded after Saravanan raised concerns about the consumption of liquor on his agricultural land.

Taking to his social media handle on X, Annamalai voiced his concern, stating, “It is shocking to know that Saravanan, a farmer, was stabbed to death in Karimangalam area of Dharmapuri district after he complained of consuming liquor on his farmland.”

The Tamil Nadu BJP leader highlighted the gravity of the situation, noting that two minors were among the ten individuals arrested in connection with the case.

Annamalai went on to connect the incident to the broader issue of uncontrolled liquor sales across Tamil Nadu, linking it to a disturbing trend of escalating violence. He criticized the DMK government for what he perceived as a lack of effective measures to address the rampant consumption of alcohol in both residential areas and agricultural lands.

Citing a previous incident involving the murder of a family near Palladam by a mob under the influence of alcohol, Annamalai underscored his concern over the apparent ineffectiveness of the DMK government. He accused the government of prioritizing revenue from liquor sales over the safety and well-being of the public.

“The DMK government, which sells liquor by setting a ceiling, does not seem to have taken any steps to curb the consumption of liquor in groups in residential areas and agricultural lands. It is a very dangerous trend that the DMK government is acting in such an attitude that what happens if the public is affected and the DMK men who run the distilleries will get enough income,” he wrote.

Annamalai added, “Saravanan, a farmer, was fatally stabbed in the Karimangalam area of Dharmapuri district following his complaint about liquor consumption on his farmland. The arrest of ten individuals, including two minors, in connection with the case adds a somber note. The ongoing spate of murders is attributed to the unregulated sale of liquor throughout Tamil Nadu. The recurrence of a similar incident, preceding the resolution of a family’s murder near Palladam by an alcohol-influenced mob, underscores the perceived ineffectiveness of the DMK government. Despite regulating liquor sales, the government is criticized for not taking concrete steps to mitigate group alcohol consumption in residential areas and agricultural lands.”

TNBJP Annamalai warned that if the DMK government failed to address the persistent crime wave associated with liquor sales and the resulting suffering of innocent civilians, consequences for the government were inevitable.
