The murder of Pradeep, who happened to be a supporting actor in films was hacked to death in Tiruvottiyur, Chennai. This case has taken a new turn, with the police investigation reportedly revealing that the deceased was also a DMK functionary and that his longtime friend, a fellow DMK functionary, is the prime suspect in the case.
Pradeep was hacked to death by unidentified assailants on the street. Following the incident, police reached the spot, sent his body for post-mortem examination and launched a search for those responsible.
The latest investigation has reportedly identified Pradeep’s friend Naveen, alias Narayanan, as the prime suspect. Naveen is the Deputy Organiser of the DMK’s 10th Ward Youth Wing. Police suspect that he carried out the murder along with his associates.
Investigators have reportedly found that the murder was linked to a financial dispute between Pradeep and Naveen.
The investigation has also revealed that Pradeep was a DMK booth organiser for the party’s 10th Ward in Tiruvottiyur. This means that both the deceased and the prime accused were associated with the DMK in the same ward.
Police inquiries have further revealed that Pradeep and Naveen had been friends for around 15 years.
According to preliminary findings, Naveen and his associates allegedly attacked Pradeep on the street before fleeing the scene. Police have since arrested four people in connection with the murder and are interrogating them.
Investigators are also probing whether anyone else was involved in planning the murder or whether the killing was orchestrated by others operating from behind the scenes.
The latest revelation comes in the wake of reports that Pradeep had earlier approached the police, expressing fears for his life. The circumstances surrounding his complaint are now also being examined as part of the investigation.
The case had earlier been reported as a murder involving Pradeep, who was hacked to death a day after reportedly complaining against a police inspector. The latest developments have now added a new dimension to the case, with police identifying his longtime friend and fellow DMK functionary Naveen as the prime suspect and establishing that Pradeep himself was a DMK functionary.
