Police arrest seven in Indore for kidnapping and selling babies

A Special Task Force (STF) of the Indore Police arrested seven individuals for their alleged involvement in the kidnap and sale of infants. The accused allegedly kidnapped infants from a hospital and sold them to couples.

Two children were rescued by the STF in the operation.

Among the accused, three ― including a female nurse ― were arrested on charges of kidnapping the babies from a hospital. The two couples who bought the babies were arrested as well.

The woman, identified as Leelabai, worked as a nurse in a hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district. She had stolen one infant thirteen years ago and had kidnapped another infant nine years ago. She had then arranged for the children to be sold to two couples.

Manish Khatri, Superintendent of Police, said, “Acting on a tip-off, we apprehended the nurse. During the investigation, she admitted that she stole both the children from the hospital and sold them to couples.”

An FIR has been registered and further investigations are underway. The police are also trying to locate the biological parents of the kidnapped children.
