In an incident that is quite similar to the scene from Mudhalvan (Nayak in Hindi) Minister for Cooperation Sellur Raju made a surprise visit to a ration shop near Bethaniyapuram in Madurai upon receiving a complaint of irregularities in the distribution of ration items.
Minister Sellur Raju was distributing relief kits to people of Bethaniyapuram when a woman named Selvi approached the Minister and informed him that the ration shop in her area was giving sub-standard ration items and that too without using weighing machines. Immediately, Minister Sellur Raju hopped on to a Bullet of one of his supporters and travelled to the PDS shop near Madha Kovil that was 1 km away.
Upon inspecting he confirmed the irregularities in the distribution of ration items and ordered for the dismissal of shop in-charge Dharmendran with immediate effect.
Following the incident, Minister Sellur Raju’s action gained praises with people drawing comparisons to the scene from Mudhalvan where the one day Chief Minister Pugazhendhi (played by Arjun) makes a surprise visit to a ration shop and dismisses culprits involved in irregularities.
