#GoBackStalin: TN CM Stalin faces resistance as he visits Coimbatore

On a day when Chief Minister MK Stalin is making a visit to Coimbatore, the hashtag #GoBackStalin has been trending at the national level to protest against the CM’s visit to the region.

CM Stalin is on a two day visit to Coimbatore as part of the DMK’s outreach in the western belt where the party’s presence is weak. He will be signing MoUs for different projects worth over ₹20,000 crores.

In light of this, the hashtag #GoBackStalin has been trending on Twitter with many taking potshots at MK Stalin.

DMK and its IT cell which used to trend hashtags against Prime Minister Narendra Modi whenever he made a visit to Tamil Nadu are now getting a taste of their own medicine with #GoBackStalin trending.

Both people and public representatives of the region have alleged that the DMK is discriminating Kongu people as the region defeated the DMK

Earlier, it was alleged that the DMK has been discriminating the Kongu region in terms of allocation of vaccines as the region had routed the DMK out. The DMK was completely wiped off from Coimbatore district with the party not even getting a single seat in 2021 Assembly Elections.

Netizens and leaders allege that political preferences of people seem to have had a role in the vaccine distribution by the DMK government.

People also have been unhappy about the DMK not fulfilling its promise of reducing petrol and diesel price by 5 and 4 rupees respectively.

This is not the first time #GoBackStalin has been trending at national level. Earlier on May 30, the same #GoBackStalin hashtag became a national level trending topic in Twitter when CM Stalin visited Coimbatore to take stock of the COVID situation in the region.
