Court of Inquiry constituted by Indian Army to probe Nagaland mishap

Indian Army has instituted a Court of Inquiry to probe the Nagaland civilian killings under a Major General-rank officer.

Army sources were quoted saying that the officer is posted in the northeast sector only.

13 civilians were killed during an anti-insurgency operation by the Indian Army’s Assam Rifles in Mon district of Nagaland. Officers, said to be para commandos, reportedly mistook the victims as militants and ambushed them.

Earlier Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said to constitute a high-level investigation into the incident “to ensure justice to the bereaved families”.
