Peeling The Onion Layer By Layer, Annamalai Takes DMK Propaganda ‘Journos’ Head On

The TN BJP Chief K Annamalai continued his firebrand attack on biased journalists. He has previously mentioned what he means by the Dravidian model of layers, comparing it to the layers of an onion.

According to him, ‘The first layer is the ‘academic/intellectual’ layer, which could comprise a few journalists, ‘American-educated’ philosophers and so on. They keep talking about Dravidian philosophy, Dravidian Model in all stages. There must be around 200–250 people like that. Once you peel this outer layer and go inside, then comes the ‘attack layer’. This is an interesting layer. If anyone wants to have a civilized debate, the immediate response of them is to spew abuses based on one’s caste and religion, thinking that the other side will refrain from questioning. The next layer consists of regional satraps. Right from 1967, every region like Trichy, Coimbatore and Vizhuppuram have been leased out. The first two layers duty is to protect these regional satraps. So far, they’ve been able to protect these regional satraps. But with the advent of social media and an alternative ecosystem, these two layers have been peeled away. The fourth layer consists of the DMK family. Protecting the family becomes the prime duty of the third layer, the regional satraps. Be it their business concerns, their dealings, their international level money laundering, all these come in this layer. And once you peel that too, there will be ‘Gopalapuram.’ he said in the Dravida Maya book release function.

Since then, Annamalai and alleged journalists have been on warring sides, with the journalists posing loaded questions and Annamalai’s retort to those questions being amplified by agenda-driven media houses. The latest conflict between the Annamalai and journalists came when he commented on journalist Karthigaichelvan’s interview with TN Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. He commented the interview was ‘toothless’ in a more colloquial term in Tamil, which the journalists took offence. They demanded an apology from Annamalai for allegedly using ‘derogatory’ terms against journalists. Annamalai refused to apologise, and a group of journalists announced a demonstration/protest against him on 25 January 2024 in Chennai.

On the same day, Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Annamalai had posted a video on his X handle, elaborating the biases and hypocrisies of the so-called ‘journalists’.

In his post, Annamalai wrote, “The first layer of the DMK onion, as we popularly know it, is activated & I understand that they are assembling today to protest against me. Today’s protest is the 3rd such protest carried out by this group against me in the last year & I consider it a badge of honour. Here are a few samples where the 1st layer forgets that they are a journalist & behaves more like a DMK spokesperson. A few DMK underlings in the garb of journalists cannot decide & dictate the narratives in TN anymore. I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Journalists who put their lives at risk to report the uncomfortable truth & at the same time, I despise those who act as propaganda machinery to please the ruling DMK Govt. They are a shame to their profession!”

The video lists clippings where senior journalist from The Hindu, N. Ram accusing the BJP government of a scam in the Rafale deals, made fun of Sengol being placed in the Parliament. The next in line was Sun News Editor Gunasekaran spreading fake news that former TN CM Karunanidhi never sued anyone for defamation – a video on the side also debunked the lies he spread – Karunanidhi sued Vaiko for defamation in 2006. The third clipping in the video was about Sathiyam TV journalist Aravindakshan praising Udhayanidhi and abusing  Ilaiyaraaja for praising Modi for carrying out the Pran Prathishta of Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The fourth one was about, senior journalist AS Pannerselvan praising Stalin and wished that he become the Prime Minister of India. The next in line was Thirugnanam, editor of Punnagai media praising Udhayanidhi as a seasoned politician and asking the public not to celebrate Jallikkattu; he also called it a gory sport. Following this was a clipping on journalist Kavitha Muralidharan who said it was not fair to accuse the DMK alone for dynastic politics, she is seen justifying it as well. The final one was about Nakkheeran Gopal praising CM Stalin for his “cycling skills”.

As the TN BJP Chief is unwavering from his stand against biased journalists, it remains to be seen whether the journalists will continue their aggression towards the BJP or turn to more neutral reporting.

I.N.D.I. Ally DMK MP Kanimozhi Shares Stage With #MeToo Accused Vairamuthu Who Romanticized Paedophilia And Opposed Ram Mandir

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) heavyweights, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his sister, Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi, rallied behind Sriperumbudur MP and party treasurer T.R. Baalu at his book launch in Chennai on 23 January 2023 despite him facing fresh accusations of manipulating the 2G scam probe.

This book launch was also attended by writer Vairamuthu. Earlier this month, the CM unveiled ‘Maha Kavithai,’ a composition by #MeToo accused writer. He had shared the stage with P Chidambaram, former ISRO scientist Dr Mylswamy Annadurai, and actor Kamal Haasan (who allegedly kissed an underage actress nonconsensually).

Vairamuthu has been accused of sexual harassment by more than 15 women since 2018, with singer Chinmayi Sripada being the most vocal about it. The award-winning singer also shared that she was facing a work ban in the industry “for naming this poet as a molester in the MeToo movement.”

In 2021, Vairamuthu penned a song depicting a schoolgirl’s infatuation with a “grey-haired old poet”. This song, romanticizing paedophilia, featured a teenage actress.

In 2018, he cited a dubious source for calling Andal, the revered Hindu Alvar saint, a “dasi” (servant and a derogatory reference to sex workers) of Ranganathaswamy temple in Sri Rangam.

It is believed that Lord Ranganatha of Sri Ranganathaswamy temple married Andal, who later merged with the idol. Since Andal married Ranganatha, the presiding deity is called Rangamannar.

Vairamuthu has also opposed the need to build a temple for Sri Rama. In the video, speaking in an unknown and undated function, he presented a poem on the same old malicious Dravidianist trope:

Avatar means to descend from above, one not tainted by pregnancy. He does not need tools like indriyam (sense organs) or pregnancy and lands directly from above. So, if (Lord Rama) is an Avatar, then he was never born, and why does he need a birthplace? Or, if he was born to Dasharatha and Kaushalya, he is a human. If he is a human, then why does he need a temple?

Not surprisingly, his tone was far from nasty when he had to speak about Kavikko S. Abdul Rahman, the ex-chairman of the Waqf board in Tamil Nadu. Singing peans for Rahman, he tells the audience, “forget that he is a Muslim… All that he asks is to awaken the humanism inside the humans.”

Baalu’s book launch was also attended by N. Ram, who heads all the publications of The Hindu Group and is a vocal supporter of the DMK. Multiple personalities have called out his agenda-driven partisan reporting in the garb of ‘journalism’.

“Whose Dad’s Money?, I Work Hard And Pay”: People Slam DMK Govt For Kilambakkam Disaster, Say “Don’t Inconvenience Us To Satisfy Your Ego”

Amidst the ongoing holiday season, over 50,000 people who had pre-booked buses reached Koyambedu, where police barricades restricted the movement of buses in and out of the area. Passengers with confirmed reservations were unexpectedly denied entry and were asked to head to Kilambakkam at the last minute. This led to confusion and distress among people. Passengers voiced their frustration as they endured extended waits for buses.

Passengers stranded at the bus station were frustrated by the lack of organisation by the state government in Tamil Nadu. Several of them were unable to reach the Kilambakkam bus station after arriving at Koyambedu to board their buses to reach their respective destinations. Speaking to News Tamil24x7, the passengers narrated their ordeal.

One male passenger said, “This was the same situation during Pongal too. At that time, they called us 3 hours before the scheduled departure and said the bus would not be at Koyambedu and we had to be at Kilambakkam. So this time, we called them up earlier at 1.30 PM or so, and confirmed where the boarding point would be. They asked us to board at Koyambedu. It is one hour since we arrived here, and there is an announcement now. We don’t know where we have to go next. You know how this feels like, for the sake of satisfying the government’s ego, we are being troubled. They have built the bus station there so we have to go there and board. I live in Mogappair, from here if I have to reach Kilambakkam, it will take me nearly 1.5 hours. For me, Koyambedu is closer, it takes only 10 minutes. To satisfy your ego, why should we go there instead of using the facilities nearby? There is such a big omnibus bus stand here, what is the justification that we must go there only? Don’t trouble us for your ego. That is my request. For Pongal also same thing happened, they gave the excuse of traffic jams. I went from here to Kilambakkam by bike. I took the bypass and got stuck in the traffic at Tambaram, it is the same thing now. The traffic at Perungulathur has now shifted to Vandalur, that is the only difference. They have spent so much money to build it but I do not see how it will be justly used. Please do not bring your ego into this, we are suffering a lot. If the buses start an hour late, I will reach my destination at midnight, our entire plan will be spoiled because I have to travel further and go to the village and over there the buses don’t come often, we have to wait there as well. Everything will be delayed. The announcements are changing by the minute, first, they said 7 PM now they are saying all the buses, now I do not know if we have to stay here or go to Kilambakkam.”

Another passenger named Sujith said, “I am an advocate at the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court. I came here for an interview with the judges. I came here with my wife. The bus was supposed to be here at 2.15 PM, but till now there is no sight of the bus. I am supposed to take Parveen Travels, but it is still not here. The government could have at least given us a notification when we bought the ticket at least they should have told us, but they didn’t. I booked my tickets at Madurai. First, they said the bus would leave at 7 PM but now they are not saying anything. They are not even issuing a refund.”

Another passenger who was on his way to Trichy said, “They said the bus will leave at 3 PM, but the bus has not reached here yet. When I called them they said they were not letting the bus inside. The government has to allocate timing for this and do it. If they have to do it immediately, how will they? I can take a cab and go that is not an issue for me.”

Another passenger said, “They said the bus would leave at 1 PM, then they said it was at 1.45 PM. I received a call and when I reached at 1.40 PM, they said the bus had left already and asked me to go to Koyambedu. They asked me to board the 3 PM bus there. I have been waiting since 3 PM, there is no sign of any bus. When we went in and asked about it, they kept flip-flopping their answers.”

A report by Polimer News records people sharing what happened.

One passenger named Michael says, “They never intimated us. Till the evening they said the bus would leave from here (Koyambedu) only. But they have stopped it now, how can we go now?”

Another visibly upset lady passenger who had planned to go to Madurai said, “We booked the tickets 2 days back. They are not letting us inside now. I don’t know what to do. We have a function to attend tomorrow. They are not allowing us inside, we are being asked to go to Kilambakkam. When do we go, our bus is at 7.15 PM! We came here at 6.45 PM thinking we had to board here, but the police is denying entry. When we call them, they are asking us to come inside breaking the barricade but there are police standing there. How do we go inside, how do I attend the function tomorrow? The government will come up with rules suddenly and we have to suffer for that? We were not informed of the change nor was it on the news. I came here directly after work. Only after reaching the bus stand (Koyambedu) did I come to know of the change. I have to go somehow, whose money is this? I work, I earn and I am buying my tickets with that, who is giving the money, is the government arranging free buses?”

Yet another lady passenger said, “We are shunting from here to there, we need to go to Madurai, how do we go now? All of a sudden, we are asked to go to Kilambakkam, how do we go? They are not allowing us inside and asking us to go there to Kilambakkam. If we call the bus company (travels), they are saying the bus is here and asked us to come inside. It is 7 now, how will we reach on time to board the 8.15 PM bus? We left home at 4 PM, and from 5.30 PM we are running here and there. The police are not letting us inside also. What can we ladies do?”

A male passenger said, “People like us who are fairly well-to-do can manage the trip to Kilambakkam. How will the others without money go? What is Stalin doing?”

News 7 Tamil Journo Assaulted By ‘Mysterious Men’ After Doing Story On TASMAC, Had Pleaded For Protection From Police Just Hours Before Attack

In the Palladam area of Tirupur district, a distressing incident unfolded as a journalist faced a brutal assault for fulfilling the crucial role of news reporting. Despite being considered the fourth pillar of democracy, such incidents cast doubt on the safety of journalists in Tamil Nadu.

Nesaprabhu, a resident of Kamanayakkanpalayam Palladam and a journalist at News7 Tamil channel, became the victim of a ruthless attack on 24 January 2024. The assailants, armed with sickles and knives, inflicted severe injuries on the journalist.

It was reported that the attack on Nesaprabhu was likely a repercussion of his recent coverage exposing the illegal sale of liquor in Tirupur.

A News7 reporter’s associate revealed that he had recently covered a story on the illicit sale of liquor in a #TASMAC bar a few months ago. Another news report highlighted an incident involving an IS inspector threatening a trader and extorting bribes. The journalist faced an attack by a group of six men in Palladam around 8:45 PM.

Before the assault, Nesaprabhu became aware that he was being trailed by unidentified individuals in a car. Worried about his safety, he contacted the police control room, which, in turn, informed the local Kamanaickenpalayam police. However, the police directed Nesaprabhu to personally visit the station and file a written complaint.

Feeling threatened, Nesaprabhu sought refuge at a nearby petrol station and alerted the police. Unfortunately, he found himself surrounded by assailants in the manager’s room, where the brutal attack occurred. During a call with the police, Nesaprabhu reported being surrounded by five cars.

Despite making multiple distress calls to the police, the phone call recording that was released captures Nesaprabhu’s desperate plea for police protection just moments before the assault. He sustained severe injuries during the attack.

News7, while condemning the assault on its journalist, also criticized the police for alleged negligence. The Chennai Press Club, Journalists Union, and various organizations condemned the attack and are demanding a comprehensive investigation.

Below is the transcription of the recording which captures the harrowing incident.

Nesaprabhu: They may come one or two times but they are coming repeatedly. How many times should I take care, I can’t sleep peacefully, if someone is with me I’ll beat and grab them or at-least I’ll push the vehicle on the road. Till now, they were standing on the road and watching me.

Police: I’ve crossed Anuparpalayam, I’m asking you, shall I come?

Nesaprabhu: Sir they’ve gone, they would have crossed Palladam, by now they would have gone to Palladam. I’m standing at Sripathi, they crossed Palladam. Now we should tell the Palladam police, then… if we want to arrest them, they have been caught on camera sir. They are in both Sripathi camera and in petrol bunk camera too… they now went to Palladam must cross the scad.

Police: Yes. You stay at Sripathi, I’ll bring this to the Inspector’s knowledge

Nesaprabhu: Please tell him, anything can happen sir

Police: Nothing like that, do you have the inspector’s number?

Nesaprabhu: Yes sir, Yes sir, I have it

Police: Do you have the inspector’s number?

Nesaprabhu: Yes sir, I have it.

Police: Shall I say it?

Nesaprabhu: I have it sir… I’ll call him

Police: You speak with him

Nesaprabhu: (interrupting with fearful voice) They have come sir… they have come sir

Police: What are you saying? Really?

Nesaprabhu: I’m coming … coming to the station. There have come in 5 cars. Sir, please come … oh god…. (shouting) they have come sir…

Police: What are you saying prabhu

Nesaprabhu: (Shouting in agony and fear) it is over sir… my life is over sir, 5 cars sir, Innova, Ertiga.

Police: Please wait a minute…

Following the assault, the assailants swiftly vanished. Prabhu, severely injured, is receiving medical attention at a private hospital in Coimbatore. Nesaprabhu was assaulted merely 500 meters away from a police station in Tirupur. Despite the proximity to law enforcement, the attackers, exhibiting no haste, inflicted 62 cut injuries on his body.

Kilambakkam Kalaignar Bus Terminus Turns Into Hell: Passengers Misguided And Not Allowed To Board Omni Bus At Koyambedu, Lack Of Food And Toilet Facilities At KCBT Makes Matters Worse

The Pongal week was a very long holiday. The following week – starting from 25 January 2024 to 28 January 2024 is yet another long weekend for the people of Tamil Nadu. 25 January 2024 is a special day since Thaipoosam will be celebrated and people from all parts of the state would want to go back to their hometowns since the following day 26 January 2024 is also a holiday owing to India’s Republic Day.

Buses are the preferred means of transport for most of the people living in Chennai who intend to head back to their native. The challenges that emerged during the inauguration of the Kilambakkam Bus Terminus have escalated since its opening.

Passengers voiced their frustration as they endured extended waits for buses travelling from Kilambakkam for Thaipusam and Pournami Girivalam. The Chennai Kilambakkam bus station became heavily congested during holiday seasons, drawing large crowds over four consecutive days encompassing occasions like Thaipusam, Republic Day, and weekend breaks as people embark on journeys to their hometowns. Devotees heading from Chennai to Tiruvannamalai for Pournami Girivalam expressed concerns about the delays in bus services.

A passenger shared their dismay, recounting a journey to Koyambedu bus station that cost them ₹8 but had to shell out ₹200 to reach Kilambakkam by bus. Questions were raised about the necessity of the passengers to come to Kilambakkam when it was stated that all buses would pick up passengers at Koyambedu.

What is also quite apparent from these videos is that people are confused between Kelambakkam and Kilambakkam.

A netizen also shared his experience on social media platform X. He wrote, “Operationalising Kilambakkam bus stand is a classic case study of how can one “Royally” Screw something! All of us who were supposed to board at different parts of Chennai were asked to come to Kilambakkam at the last moment. The public buses to Kilambakkam were extra crowded. A few of us pooled in and hired an auto. Reached here by 11 PM. At the outset, it looked well-lighted. But after entering the terminus, there were no food options. There were 2 restaurants but were out of stock. There was this Aavin booth that served hot milk which was my dinner. Being a new bus stand, was anticipating that restrooms will be well maintained. But was shocked to see Pathetic restrooms. Feel sorry for the maintenance staff here. Their displeasure is very much visible!”

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party State Secretary, SG Suryah, posted a video reporting live from Koyambedu Omni Bus Station. In the video, he said, “I was in a news debate with News7 and from then I was constantly receiving messages from people that they had booked bus tickets to go from Koyambedu to their respective destinations. It is Thaipoosam tomorrow (25 January 2024) and it is a long weekend as well. But they said that the omnibus operators informed the passengers that they needed to board at Kilambakkam. But there were no buses that would ferry them to Kilambakkam. Autos and cabs were charging ₹1000 and above. So I came here to understand the situation. But the omnibus bus station is closed. There are 100s of police personnel deployed there. The people here are informing me that the government has issued an order that no buses can ply from here. The reason given for that is that the buses must operate only from the Kilambakkam bus station. The Omnibus Operators Association is stating that the government is forcing them to ply from Kilambakkam. It is the people that are facing all the trouble because of this decision. Even during New Year (1 January) they did the same thing, so also for Pongal, now it is being repeated for Thai Poosam. There were so many women with infants outside the Koyambedu bus station. Why doesn’t the government have any plan? Anbazhagan says that nearly 60,000 passengers have booked their bus tickets from Koyambedu. Why is the government hell-bent on making these passengers board their buses only from Kilambakkam? The Chief Minister must try to understand the problems being faced by the people. He is sitting at home and doing politics on Facebook and the internet. Instead, he has to come out and see for himself how his government authorities are troubling the people of his state without any planning. I don’t know if the CM is even aware of these things, is he being informed of the developments? The people are really frustrated with what is happening. It is even worse in Kilambakkam.

At Kilambakkam bus station, the government themselves have intimated that only 144 omnibuses can be parked at a time. However, at the omnibus bus stand here, more than 1000 such omnibuses ply in a single day. How will they accommodate and operate 1000 such omnibuses in place of those 144 omnibuses? The omnibus association tells me that no facilities are in place to permit this. There is a separate omnibus bus stand in Mudichur being built but it will take about 6 months for it to be completed. They say that they will operate from there after the completion. Till then, they wish to operate from Koyambedu itself. But the government is not even ready to discuss this. What is the politics behind this? Why are the people being troubled so much? I request the Chief Minister to address this issue immediately.”

Critics argue that the government is consistently involved in actions that leave citizens vulnerable.

“He’s One Hallelujah Jebakootam (Prayer Gang)”: ‘Savukku’ Shankar Trolls DMK Propagandist Journo Senthil Vel

Senthil Vel, who runs the Tamil Kelvi YouTube channel and an anchor associated with the Tamil news channel Maalai Murasu hosted the second Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Youth Wing Conference held at Salem, solidifying the perception that he aligns closely with and serves as a vocal supporter of the DMK.

Despite portraying himself as an ‘unbiased’ journalist, he was observed wholeheartedly embracing the DMK family and its policies while hosting the event.

Responding to this, prominent political commentator ‘Savukku Shankar’ took sly jibes at the DMK propagandist ‘journalist’ for being subservient to the DMK.

Here’s a transcript of the discussion in his YouTube channel Savukku Media.

Shankar: Yesterday you took those Vaal Veechu (sword thrower), Vel Veechu (spear thrower), Parotta Veechu (parotta thrower).

(Vel Veechu is the monologue show of Senthil Vel on his YouTube channel).

Muthalif: (intervening) he was sloganeering when Stalin came.

Shankar: Sshoooo… He is a ‘Hallelujah prayer gang’, but he is roaming around claimig to be a journalist. When he was working in Sathyam TV he was kneeling and praying.

Muthalif: Ooohh are you saying this truthfully

Shankar:  I’m saying this seriously

Muthalif: Yesterday , he was running his mouth about Periyar, Giriyar

Shankar: He joined Sathyam TV based on a recommendation. While all were sitting and speaking, he ran his mouth about Periyar Giriyar there too. After completing that… you know what channel that is right? (Hinting that it is Sathiyam TV is run by a Christian organization). He was sitting with the owner, MD and praying

Muthalif: Oh then suiting himself according to the places. If he had come this side he would have gone to Ram Temple, Ayodhya

ShankarAaaa yes… you’ve taken to stage such kind of survivalist as a journalist. We are not such kind of journalists who long for your recognition”.

About Senthil Vel

Senthil Vel was implicated in spreading false information and promoting caste-based discord. He falsely asserted that the accused teacher, linked to a sexual harassment case, belonged to the ‘Iyer’ caste, thereby perpetuating the dissemination of misleading details.

It is worth noting that Maridhas, a popular vlogger, had previously accused Senthil of favoring a specific ideology and political party. News 18 Tamil Nadu decided to part ways with him in light of these allegations.

Another online user sarcastically commented that he had previously claimed to be an impartial journalist.

Kilambakkam Kalaignar Bus Terminus Fiasco: Omni Bus Owners Demand Operations From Koyambedu CMBT, DMK Govt Threatens Action

Ever since the inauguration, the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) at Kilambakkam has been in the centre of controversies. Issues such as traffic congestion, hasty modifications, issues of alleged corruption, and destruction of a Vinayakar temple have all irked the commuters and long-time residents in the area. Passengers travelling to the south of Tamil Nadu complain of fewer amenities at the terminus and say it is difficult to reach the terminus from the nearby Vandalur Railway Station.

In a recent development, the omnibus associations are up in arms against the state transport department. The president of the omnibus owners’ association said, ‘On a typical day, approximately 1,000 buses are in operation, yet the KCBT currently has capacity for only 144 buses. Despite the government’s commitment to construct a bus stand for omni buses on a five-acre plot in Mudichur, the project remains unfinished, with an anticipated completion time of six additional months.’ He also added, ‘Despite repeatedly bringing up this matter in various meetings with government officials, no solution was offered. Unexpectedly, on January 22, a statement was released stating that, starting from January 24, omni buses would no longer be permitted to operate. This abrupt decision has created confusion among passengers who had made reservations 30 to 90 days in advance. We urge the Chief Minister and the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority to intervene. The Transport department should empathize with the passengers’ predicament and work towards a suitable resolution.’

On the state transport side, Chennai Metropolitan Department Authority Minster PK Sekar Babu said a government cannot operate based on the desires or preferences of the Omni Bus Owners Association. He further added, “Before the commencement of the terminus at Kilambakkam, dialogues took place between the government and the omnibus associations. The associations initially consented to initiate bus operations gradually from December 30, 2023 (the inauguration day) and subsequently requested a later start date from January 24. However, their current stance asserts that they are unprepared to commence operations from Kilambakkam.

As a result of the loggerhead, a statement has been issued from the transport department which reads, “If any violation is noticed, severe action will be taken against the operator as per provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act and rules.” Furthermore, the Tamil Nadu Transport department announced on Wednesday (24 January 2024) that omni buses heading south will be prohibited from commencing their journeys at the Koyambedu bus terminus and entering Chennai. Instead, they are required to initiate their journeys from the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) located in Kilambakkam, Chengalpattu district in Tamil Nadu.

Transport Commissioner A Shanmuga Sundaram had clarified on Tuesday (23 January 2024) that there is parking space for 250 private omni buses at the KCBT and associated facilities such as booking counters and dormitory had been created for the crew members.

To remedy the situation surrounding the woes of passengers and omnibus associations, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority held a meeting to discuss these issues, chaired by the state Transport Minister SS Sivasankar. However, the decisions arrived at the meeting have not been divulged.

FM Nirmala Sitharaman And Hindus Subjected To Mockery In The DMK Youth Wing Conference Held In Salem; DMK Udhayanidhi Stalin Enjoyed It

Pudhugai Boopalam, a political satire stand-up comedy group from Tamil Nadu, participated in the DMK Youth Wing conference in Salem. During their performance, they depicted an incident involving India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, as she assessed flood damage in South Tamil Nadu, specifically in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi. However, their portrayal was offensive, particularly towards Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Hindu community.

The incident that was portrayed is, when Nirmala Sitharaman paid a visit to the Vaikuntanathar Perumal Temple at Srivaikuntam where she inspected the chariot procession path that was ravaged by the floods. A video of her interacting and directing the officials inside the temple has gone viral on social media. During the Brahmotsavam, the procession of the deity would go through the path that is behind the temple. However, that path was being used like an open-air public toilet by a few people leading to unbearable stench.

When the finance minister was at the temple, a devotee had appealed to her to do something about getting the path cleaned. Nirmala Sitharaman immediately ordered the officials to take the matter into cognizance and do the needful. Nirmala Sitharaman said that BJP Tamil Nadu’s floor leader in the Assembly, Nainar Nagendran would come and inspect whether the job has been completed or not in 15 days or a month.

If the job isn’t completed even after one month, I will come down here. Will it happen when I come? I will stand right there until the fencing is completed. No matter the work (I have). Alright? “, she can be heard telling the officials assembled at the temple.

She then makes snide remarks at the Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) of Thoothukudi region asking him whether he listened to their grievances. The Joint Commissioner can be seen fumbling in front of the Minister. “Perumal during the procession is coming through that path. They are asking you to clean the path which is being used like a public toilet.”, Nirmala Sitharaman says. An official can be heard saying that the path would be guarded with proper fencing.

BJP MLA Nainar Nagendran asked how much it would cost to which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman says “Why are you worried about that?” Taking jibes at the HR&CE department for not giving enough renumeration to the temple archakas, Nirmala Sitharaman says to the BJP MLA “For giving ₹3000 to these priests they (HR&CE) measure carefully like they do in ration shops. They would definitely have enough money remaining with them. They can’t pay them (archakas) salaries. Because there is a reason for that. They won’t have a problem in repairing the street/path.”

She further adds “If you ask like that, they would say they’ve no money and you would also arrange CSR funds. No way!” As she makes that comment, a devotee from the crowd can be heard saying that he can arrange ₹30,000 to which Nirmala Sitharaman replies “Wait brother! Don’t put it in the Hundi (donation box). You give wherever you want as you deem fit. Let them use the money they’ve to build it.” She then goes on to warn the HR&CE Joint Commissioner saying “Don’t take it lightly thinking that I am talking candidly in a joking manner. They’re not asking you anything else. They’re asking you to get the path through which Perumal comes cleaned and maintained.” to which the official assures that he will get it rectified.

However, the DMK supporting Dravidian Stockists have unleashed vile casteist abuses at Nirmala Sitharaman invoking her Brahmin identity. The so-called comedians who tried to enact this incident but crossed the boundaries of satire.

The member of Pudhugai Boopalam Pragadeeshwaran says: “That lady who is the finance minister of ondriya government (union government). Very big post she is in. To that lady a loosu (madman) complaints saying the toilet is smelly”. you see that man who is complaining (in a ridiculing manner). If the matter said to AEO then it would be fine, or some worker who cleans. but conveying it to Nirmala Sitharaman who is finance minister. what that lady should tell? (she should have told) why are you saying this to me? is this a big problem? should I look into urine and faeces issue? she should have told like this. but she then told, you see the work of ondriya minister (union minister), without giving the funds, she is doing the work of cleaning toilets.

Senthi, his partner says: Even if we ask funds, she is telling to put in their plates (ridiculing way of meaning the Brahmins).

Pragadeeshwaran says: The money you have been getting in the plates has now brought to the hundi as the people’s asset by Dravidian organization. If you are getting in plates from people and using it for temple, then what is the use of that? Do you know why the government is controlling temples? There are many people like Devanathan of Kanchipuram. they will do that work. so only we (the state government) are having temples.

Amidst this incident, notable figures from the DMK, including DMK scion Udhayanidhi Stalin, DMK MP A. Raja, and former Minister Ponmudi, were present at the scene.

It is noteworthy to mention that recently when Puthiya Thalaimurai News Channel recently posted a spoof/satire video on DMK, it was made to issue an apology and take the video down.

DMK Govt’s “Fact-Checking Unit” Becomes Butt Of Jokes After Its “Fact-Check” On Khelo India Games Food Shortage Goes Wrong, Gets Called Out For Peddling Fake Narrative

The Khelo India Youth Games for this year commenced on 19 January 2024 and is scheduled to continue until 31 January 2024. The event is being hosted in major cities of Tamil Nadu namely Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Trichy. This edition marks the sixth edition of the flagship event under the Khelo India initiative by the government of India, emphasizing the promotion of sports at the grassroots level, playing a crucial role in nurturing and recognizing emerging talents across the country.

As the participating cities and states geared up to showcase the skills of young talents at a national level, concerns arose during the event held in a few cities. Participants and coaches raised complaints about food shortages specifically in Madurai.

On 24 January 2024, the official X handle of the Tamil Nadu BJP based on news reports released a video alleging severe food shortages at the MGR Stadium in Madurai, stating that athletes were provided only a chapati and a half-boiled egg.

Participants began expressing concerns on 21 January 2024, citing a shortage of food at the venue. Athletes from different states voiced their disappointment, with some mentioning that breakfast consisted of only one chapati and a boiled egg. Allegedly, some participants had to make do with smaller portions due to the purported food shortage. Coaches and organizers echoed these concerns, highlighting subpar food arrangements and accommodation. Despite complaints, timely food service to athletes was reportedly not ensured.

Reports from TNIE indicated that the food arrangements were managed by a private contractor who had been strictly instructed to address the food shortage issue and ensure sufficient meals. Additional officials were assigned to monitor the arrangements at the venue, as stated by Collector Sangeetha after inspecting the situation. She assured that any problems related to food shortages would be resolved within a day.

MP Venkatesan emphasized that such allegations could tarnish the reputation of Tamil Nadu, and the district administration pledged to take necessary actions to address the concerns.

In response, the Tamil Nadu government’s official fact-check team jumped in and refuted these claims, tagging the Tamil Nadu BJP handle and labeling it as fake news.

After the disclosure of multiple reports, internet users flooded the X platform to voice their discontent with the deplorable state of the administration and ridiculed the Tamil Nadu government’s official fact-checking team for allegedly concealing the truth and promoting a false narrative under the guise of fact-checking.

A different user cited a post by Elon Musk, the CEO of the X platform, in which he asserted, “The so-called fact-checkers are huge liars and incredibly biased”

Where Is Mission Director?

The MK Stalin-led DMK government recently formed a “Fact-Checking Unit” allegedly in violation of established norms. Many called it as an attempt to muzzle voices critical of the government in social media.

One Dravidianist porpagandist Iyan Karthikeyan, a former YouTuber who ran a self-styled “fact-checking” website called YouTurn has been appointed as the Mission Director of the so-called “Fact-Checking Unit” who draws a salary of 3 lakhs per month of taxpayer’s money.

Many on social media asked what is the “Mission Director” doing when the government fact-checking unit itself was peddling false information.

The BJP Tamil Nadu social media took a jibe saying “We request the Chief Minister @mkstalin to set up another fact check department to fact check this fact check department..!

Previous Instances Of DMK Govt Agencies Peddling Misinformation

Recently, the Tamil Nadu Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) issued a statement in which it said that EVR (hailed as ‘Periyar’ by followers) visited Anna University on 16 July 1920 instead of 16 July 1970. Furthermore, another error was noted in the statement concerning EVR’s birthday, which is 17 September 1879, falling on a Wednesday. However in the statement, it was stated that computer-generated information indicated EVR’s birthday as a Saturday when the Dravidian ideologue had asked the IBM 1620 computer.

The DIPR release also said “At that time itself, Periyar predicted about today’s cell phones saying that in future everyone will have a communication device in their pocket.”. However, the quote about cell phones attributed to EVR was originally said by the famed scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla.

On 12 December 2023, the Chief Minister found himself retracting a post that he had made on his X handle, commending writer Rajasekaran Devibharathi for winning the Sahitya Akademi Award.

However, this “jubilation” was short-lived as it was soon revealed that the Sahitya Akademi had not yet announced any awards. The discrepancy led to the immediate deletion of the Chief Minister’s post.

In November 2023, when allegations of Aavin reducing fat content in the green packet milk surfaced, instead of proving that the milk contained a specific amount of fat as claimed or other details that pertained to the topic of discussion, the FCU’s Mission Director ended up fact-checking the “container” in which the sample was received.

The Reality Behind DMK’s “World Record”: Yet Another ‘EVR UNESCO Award’ Moment?

The DMK Youth Wing Conference was mired with controversy right from the get-go. Be it the vulgar dance performances or the derogatory speeches made by the participants and performers or be it the scramble for water bottles in hordes by the cadre. The controversies surrounding this event refuse to die down.

In a video posted by YouTuber Maridhas, he called out the “world record” that the Conference claimed to have achieved.

News channels were filled with news about the conference. The record was said to be achieved for the largest conference (in terms of area – 9.50 lakh square feet) where the largest number of people congregated at the same time. Now who or what is the organisation that claimed this was a world record? Upon examining the certificate, the name Unique World Records is seen. This organisation has about 460 followers on the social media platform X. When the organisation was contacted, it came to light that the entire team consisted of only 3 people – a lady and two men. Maridhas posing as someone looking for an “award” for a world record enquired about the procedure. He was asked to fill up an application and was informed that their judges would decide on it. According to Maridhas, the jury had to be paid ₹80,000 and this too was negotiable. Their office address is also questionable.

The news around this “record” was also planted by the DMK mouthpieces themselves.

This reminds us of the so-called UNESCO award to Dravidian ideologue EVR known as Periyar among followers. For long, it has been said, written, and ingrained in the minds of people that EVR was conferred with the title of “Socrates of South-East Asia” by UNESCO. This had found its place even in school textbooks of Tamil Nadu and was even asked as a question in annual examinations and Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission exams. However, this award has turned out to be a sham. An email response from the UNESCO office in Delhi has confirmed that no such award/title was given to E.V. Ramasamy Naicker.

Even in the award, there exists a conspicuous error. The title of the award says “Socrates of South-East Asia”. India does not fall under the South-East Asia grouping. The Southeast nations include Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. India comes under South Asia and not South-East Asia.

For more than 40 years, this lie has been peddled with several articles and research papers on EVR written based on this lie. None in the media or those belonging to the ‘intellectual’ circle who speak of facts has ever opened their mouths about this blatant lie peddled.

Then who gave the award to EVR? It was none other than late former DMK leader M. Karunanidhi in the presence of Dravida Kazhagam President K. Veeramani.
