VCK Goons Attack Tamil Insta Celeb ‘Vanakkam Da Mapla’ Arun Kumar For Videos Criticizing Thirumavalavan’s Secularism, Arun Also Slammed Isaivani Who Insulted Lord Ayyappa

Arun Kumar, a famous Instagram personality from Theni was attacked by goons belonging to Vidhuthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) as he had made videos calling out the Thirumavalavan’s ‘secular’ hypocrisy and also slammed Tamil Christian songs singer Isaivani for insulting Lord Ayyappan with her song “I’m sorry Ayyappa”.

Arun Kumar in his video criticizing Thol. Thirumavalavan had said “You went to temple. Prayed to God. And the pujari gave you prasadam. That pujari should be given one knock on the head. Because he should’ve just returned without saying anything. But what did you do? You’ve taken a tour of all the idols and commenting ‘Why is Vinayagar so ugly? Murugan is beautiful.’ It’s our family matter. We’ll take care of that. Because do the 5 fingers in the hands look the same? It’s coming from our hand only. The thumb is different each other fingers. But will we cut the hand because of that? No right? That’s it. That’s our family. We know to take care of it. What you do is, you go to Jesus’s church next. You’ll look at the cross. ‘Were people just mere spectators till the crusification?’, you may ask. Then you’ll go to a mosque and see just wall. Our brethren pray to Allah looking at that. But will you say, ‘they’re worshipping looking at a wall’? Don’t say like that. If you want me to be a Periyar follower, when you come asking for votes, say that you don’t want the votes of believers. That day I’ll say that God doesn’t exist. You say that only Periyar is there, and you follow only Periyar and then come asking for votes saying you don’t want the votes of those who pray to Allah, Jesus or Sivan. I’ll vote for you then.

In another video where he criticised the Gana singer Isaivani for her “I am sorry Ayyappa” song, he said, “This girl has sung songs. She says she is the bearded man’s granddaughter. I don’t care if you are the bearded man’s granddaughter, why do you drag Ayyappa for every single thing? Go to a mosque or a church and try dragging them. I believe we must not unnecessarily find fault with any god, whoever it may be. Don’t slander Gods. We all believe in them. You say Periyar is your grandfather. He got married at 80. Be like him, I am trying to keep my anger in control. My Guru tells me to be calm and says this is a test. You sing your songs, you have your own fanbase. But unnecessarily dragging Lord Muruga, Lord Ayyappa. Sing about your grandfather, sing about his pride. He got married at 80, like that you too marry at 80, find a young girl and marry her. Sing like that. Let all the youth learn from it.”

Following these videos, it has come to light that Arun Kumar was attacked by the VCK goons. It is not clear which video has resulted in the backlash.

In a video statement, Arun is seen in an ambulance saying, “I did not say anything wrong. I only said all Gods are same. But these VCK members, about 20 of them came and attacked me out of the blue. They beat me up. I did not say anything wrong. I could have managed if it was one man but 20 people beat me up together.”

Visuals of the VCK goons trying to fight with the Instagrammer also became viral. In the video VCK goons are seen intimidating Arun questioning him about the video where he rightly questioned Thirumavalavan.

MP: African Cheetah Neerva Gives Birth To Cubs, 5th Successful Delivery At Kuno

African female cheetah, Neerva, delivered her cubs at Kuno National Park (KNP) in Madhya Pradesh, said a senior Wildlife official in Bhopal on Monday.

However, Kuno authorities and the Wildlife Department have not disclosed the number of newborn cubs. Sources said two cubs have been spotted so far. The birth of the new cubs at Kuno has come as a major boost for India’s Cheetah Reintroduction Project introduced in Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district in September 2022.

Neerva’s successful delivery has reaffirmed the KNP’s potential as a breeding ground for the reintroduced cheetahs, which has been under the global spotlight. Neerva was brought from South Africa in the phase on February 18, 2023. This is the fifth female cheetah to successfully deliver her cubs after 20 cheetahs were released at KNP in Madhya Pradesh.

Previously, female cheetahs Aasha, Jwala, Siyaya and Jamini have delivered a total of 17 cubs at KNP, out of which 14 have survived. With these, the surviving cheetahs at the KNP are reported to be 24.

On September 17, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released eight cheetahs – five females and three males – brought from Namibia into enclosures at the KNP as part of the world’s first intercontinental translocation of the big cats. In February 2023, another 12 cheetahs were translocated to the national park in MP from South Africa as part of the Indian government’s project to reintroduce cheetahs into the country.

Youth Unemployment Rates In India Lower Than Global Levels: Govt

EPFO Adds 13.41 Lakh Net Members As Employment Rises

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje cited statistics in the Lok Sabha on Monday to show that youth unemployment rates in India were lower than global levels.

The minister cited a report by the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Institute for Human Development (IHD) which states that the worldwide youth unemployment rate was 15.6 per cent in 2021. Further, as per World Employment and Social Outlook Trends, 2024 by ILO, globally, in 2023, the youth unemployment rate was 13.3 per cent.

On the other hand, the latest annual Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS)shows that unemployment rate for youth of age 15-29 years in India in the year 2023-24 was 10.2 per cent which is lower than global levels.

Further, the Worker Population Ratio (WPR) for youth indicating employment has increased from 31.4 per cent in 2017-18 to 41.7 per cent in 2023-24, the minister pointed out in a written reply in the Lower House.

The unemployment indicator in India at present is the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) since 2017-18. She also cited Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) Payroll Data which gives an idea of the level of employment in the formal sector.

More than 1.3 crore net subscribers joined EPFO during 2023-24. Moreover, during September 2017 to August, 2024, more than 7.03 crore net subscribers have joined EPFO, indicating an increase in formalisation of employment, the minister added. “All the labour force indicators are providing evidence of an improved employment scenario in the country,” Shobha Karandlaje said.

In answer to another question, the minister stated that as per the latest annual PLFS reports, the estimated Worker Population Ratio (WPR) and Unemployment Rate (UR) for persons of age 15 years and above indicates that employment has shown an increasing trend while the unemployment rate reflects a decreasing trend over the years.

The KLEMS (K: Capital, L: Labour, E: Energy, M: Materials and S: Services) database published by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) provides employment estimates at an all-India level. As per the latest data of the database, provisional estimates for 2023-24, employment in the country increased to 64.33 crore in year 2023-24 compared to 47.15 crore in 2014-15. Total increase in employment during 2014-15 to 2023-24 is about 17 crore. She further states that to provide various employment related services to the youth of the country on a single platform, the government of India has launched National Career Service (NCS) portal which includes services like job search & matching, career counselling, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, internships etc., through the portal.

During the year 2024-25 (as on 15.11.2024), 1.12 crore vacancies were posted on NCS portal and more than 3.53 crore number of vacancies mobilised on the portal since its launch in 2015. Further, the Central government has also launched MY Bharat platform which provides myriad opportunities for youth engagement through various organisations onboarded on the portal with a view to involve them in meaningful activities.

The MY Bharat portal is envisioned as a pivotal, technology-driven facilitator for youth development and youth-led development, with the overarching goal of providing equitable opportunities to empower the youth in realizing their aspirations.

She said that employment generation coupled with improving employability is the priority of the government. The various Ministries are implementing different employment generation schemes like Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Rural Self Employment and Training Institutes (RSETIs), Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY). The government has also announced the Prime Minister’s package of 5 schemes and initiatives to facilitate employment, skilling and other opportunities for 4.1 crore youth over a 5-year period with a central outlay of Rs 2 lakh crore in the Budget 2024-25, Karandlaje added.

Not Amend, But Abolish Waqf Bill: Bihar Minister

Not Amend, But Abolish Waqf Bill: Bihar Minister

Bihar Public Health Engineering Minister and BJP MLA Neeraj Kumar Bablu said on Monday that the Waqf Bill should not be amended but completely abolished.

“The Waqf Board Bill should be entirely abolished rather than amended. The decision regarding the Waqf Board will be decisive for Bihar. All religious practices like Namaz will eventually face restrictions,” the Bihar minister said.

He also supported Union Minister Lallan Singh’s claim that minorities do not vote for the JD-U despite the Nitish Kumar government having done many things for the community. Bablu suggested that development policies should now be tailored while keeping religion in mind, signalling a potential shift in how governance and religious considerations might intersect.

The opposition is fiercely resisting any amendments to the Waqf Board Bill and has accused the BJP government of using the issue to polarise communities for political gain.

On Sunday, Union Minister and Munger MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lallan Singh) addressed the Muslim community’s voting patterns in Muzaffarpur, saying that Muslims have not traditionally supported the JD-U in elections.

He urged party workers not to remain under any illusions, asserting that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is fully aware of the demographics behind his electoral support. Singh emphasised that Nitish Kumar’s focus remains on Bihar’s overall development, irrespective of voting trends.

On the contentious issue of the Waqf Board, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reiterated the BJP’s stance on the issue. During a speech at the BJP headquarters celebrating the Maharashtra election win, PM Modi claimed that the Waqf Board has no constitutional basis. He also accused the Congress of “unjustly” transferring properties to the Waqf Board during its tenure, a move he suggested was politically motivated.

India’s Tiger Population Rises To 3682, Doubles Since 2006

India’s Tiger Population Rises To 3682, Doubles Since 2006

In a significant achievement in wildlife conservation, India’s tiger population has grown to 3,682 in 2022, up from 2,967 in 2018, showing a 6 per cent annual increase in consistently monitored areas, the Parliament was informed on Monday.

The rise in tiger numbers is due to efforts by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), which focuses on three main strategies — material and logistical support, restricting habitat interventions, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.

The Central Indian Landscape Complex and Eastern Ghats Landscape Complex, spanning Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand, saw the numbers rise from 1,033 in 2018 to 1,439 in 2022, while the Shivalik-Gangetic Plain landscape complex, encompassing Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, registered a rise from 646 to 819, including from 442 to 560 in Uttarakhand.

Other complexes also registered significant growth, such as Sundebans where the population increased from 88 to 101. However, within the Central Indian Landscape Complex and Eastern Ghats Landscape Complex, the tiger population has declined in Odisha, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. Apart from this, the tiger population has also decreased in Arunachal Pradesh where it has come down from 29 to 9 in 2022.

However, in Madhya Pradesh, tigers increased from 526 in 2018 to 785 in 2022, and in Maharashtra, from 312 to 444. India’s tiger population has more than doubled since 2006, when it was 1,411. This growth has been supported by Project Tiger, a government initiative that funds conservation activities through annual plans prepared by tiger reserves. These plans are based on broader Tiger Conservation Plans, as mandated by the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, the reply said.

Funding is provided to tiger reserves for acquiring capacity in terms of infrastructure and material, to deal with tigers dispersing out of source areas. These are solicited by tiger reserves through an Annual Plan of Operation (APO) every year which stems from an overarching Tiger Conservation Plan (TCP), mandated under Section 38 V of the Act. Based on the carrying capacity of tigers in a tiger reserve, habitat interventions are restricted through an overarching TCP.

In case tiger numbers are at carrying capacity levels, it has been advised that habitat interventions should be limited so that there is no excessive spillover of wildlife including tigers thereby minimising man-animal conflict. Further, in buffer areas around tiger reserves, habitat interventions are restricted such that they are sub-optimal vis-a-vis the core/critical tiger habitat areas, judicious enough to facilitate dispersal to other rich habitat areas only, the reply said.

As per Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs), the National Tiger Conservation Authority has issued three SOPs to deal with human-animal conflict — the issue of managing dispersing tigers, managing livestock kills so as to reduce conflict as well as relocating tigers from source areas to areas where the density of tiger is low, so that conflict in rich source areas does not occur.

Also as per Tiger Conservation Plans, need-based and site-specific management interventions are undertaken by the tiger reserves to improve the quality of wildlife habitat and funding support for these activities is provided under the Project Tiger Component of the ongoing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats, the Minister said in the reply.

“I Will Build Toilets, Will You Take Responsibility And Clean It?”, Asks DMK Minister TM Anbarasan At Chengalpattu Gram Sabha Meeting Over Public’s Toilet Request

"I Will Build Toilets, Will You Take Responsibility And Clean It?", Asks DMK Minister TM Anbarasan At Chengalpattu Gram Sabha Meeting Over Public's Toilet Request

A Gram Sabha meeting was held at the Moovarasanpattu Primary Panchayat in the Alandur constituency of Chengalpattu district, with DMK Minister of MSME, T.M. Anbarasan, and District Collector Arunraj in attendance. During the meeting, members of the public raised several demands, including a request for the construction of toilets. In response, a visibly irritated Minister T.M. Anbarasan remarked, “I will build the toilets, but will you take responsibility of cleaning it?” His comment surprised the attendees and caused an immediate stir among those present.

T.M. Anbarasan, seemingly dismissing the community’s sanitation concerns, remarked, “We have been building it everywhere, it will remain usable for four to six months before becoming filthy without maintenance. Listen to me, I say this from experience, having constructed many toilets in various places. It’s not a big deal to build them, I’m ready to fund the construction through the constituency development fund. However, after two or three months, they cannot be maintained, and they become dirty due to neglect. Only the place just becomes wasted rather than maintaining it.”

The DMK minister’s casual dismissal of the issue and his indifferent statement have sparked widespread condemnation from various quarters. BJP State Secretary SG Suryah strongly criticized the remarks on social media.

In a statement on his official X account, SG Suryah said, “A Gram Sabha meeting was held in the Moovarasampattu Primary Panchayat of Chengalpattu District. The meeting started at 11 am and Minister @thamoanbarasan arrived almost an hour and a half late at 12:30 pm! Not only this, during the meeting, when a member of the public asked the Minister to build a public toilet, he asked, “Will you clean it?” in a posture of authority and arrogance, which is condemnable. Should the public, who are requesting toilets clean it? Or is the government administration providing the toilets should arrange this? Is this how a minister would behave towards the public who are request demands? Is this character? Is this honor? This is what happens when stone-hearted people who lack even the slightest humanity are in power?”

BJP TN Chief Annamalai Slams MK Stalin For Insulting PMK Founder Dr. Ramadoss Who Questioned DMK-Adani Connection

BJP TN Chief Annamalai Slams MK Stalin For Insulting PMK Founder Dr. Ramadoss Who Questioned DMK-Adani Connection

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on 25 November 2024 backed Electricity Minister V. Senthilbalaji’s assertion that there were no commercial ties between the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) and companies linked to the Adani Group. Addressing reporters, Mr. Stalin said, “The Minister for that Department [Mr. Senthilbalaji] has spoken. Please do not twist it.”

The statement came following recent allegations of fraud and bribery against industrialist Gautam Adani and others in a United States court. Last week, Mr. Senthilbalaji had clarified that TANGEDCO had no direct transactions with the Adani Group.

PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss had alleged that Gautam Adani had a private meeting with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at his Chitranjan Salai residence on July 10. Highlighting the recent inclusion of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in a bribery scandal, Ramadoss called for greater transparency. “What was the purpose of this secret meeting? The state government must initiate an inquiry and provide clarity on the matter,” he demanded.

When questioned about Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder Dr. S. Ramadoss’s demand for clarity on whom Gautam Adani had met in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Stalin dismissed the remarks. “He [Dr. Ramadoss] does not have any other job and will keep issuing some statement or the other every other day. There is no necessity for us to answer them,” he stated.

Anbumani Ramadoss, President of the Patali Makkal Katchi said, “…The Chief Minister (MK Stalin) literally abused my leader (PMK founder S Ramadoss), saying that he has no work, he just gives statements and I don’t want to reply to him. This is completely uncalled for by a CM of the state. My leader had asked a very valid question saying that – why the Tamil Nadu government’s name has been involved in a corruption charge in America? It is the duty of the CM to respond to that and also why Mr Gautam Adani and his son met the CM at his home…”

TNBJP Chief Annamalai Slams DMK

Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, accusing him of evading questions regarding alleged connections between the DMK government and the Adani Group. Annamalai’s remarks come in response to recent allegations linking the DMK regime to Adani and criticism leveled by PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss against the ruling party.

In a social media post, Annamalai accused the DMK of engaging in a dual narrative, likening their actions to a “misleading campaign” against prominent business figures like Ambani and Adani. He alleged that when reports emerged of the DMK government’s ties to Adani, efforts were made to suppress the information. Referring to Dr. Ramadoss’s questions on the matter, Annamalai termed CM Stalin’s reaction as “reprehensible” and “unbecoming of a Chief Minister.” He highlighted Stalin’s statements about the DMK’s period out of power between 2011 and 2021, when the party was purportedly running from pillar to post, including appeals to the Governor’s office.

“Stalin seems to have forgotten his actions during those years,” Annamalai remarked. He criticized the Chief Minister’s current handling of Ramadoss’s questions, suggesting that Stalin’s dismissive response underscores his inability to address valid political criticism.

“The DMK’s political double standards must be questioned,” Annamalai stated. He expressed disappointment over Stalin’s reaction, calling it a reflection of the government’s incompetence and inability to face the truth. “The response from the Chief Minister is not only shoddy but entirely unacceptable for someone holding the office of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister,” he added.

Annamalai’s remarks add to the mounting political tension as opposition leaders continue to question the DMK government on its alleged ties to major business entities and its governance practices.

Couple Arrested For Murder Of Kerala Woman Real Estate Broker

Couple Arrested For Murder Of Kerala Woman Real Estate Broker

A week after real estate broker Jaysi Abraham, 55, was found dead in her apartment near Kerala’s Kochi, police on Monday said that they had arrested a couple for the well-planned-out murder.

The police have now taken Gireesh Babu, 42, and his paramour Khateeja, 42, into custody. It was on November 17 that Abraham was found murdered after police checked her apartment after a call from Abraham’s daughter in Canada reporting that her mother was not picking up the phone.

Abraham was estranged from her husband, and it was last year that she moved into the apartment. Finding no response, the police broke open the front door and found Abraham dead in the bathroom. On examining the body, the police suspected that it was a murder after the body was found to have multiple injuries.

Two gold bangles and her mobile phones were also missing. Later, following the autopsy, it became clear that Abraham died due to multiple injuries.

Soon, the police swung into action, and the first lead was received when they closed down on a person arriving and later leaving the apartment wearing a helmet, as found in the CCTV visuals from the apartment. The police also found out that he was wearing shirts of different colours when he came and had left.

Later, the police zeroed in on Babu, Abraham’s friend. Babu used to regularly frequent Abraham’s apartment, where he met Khadeeja and later became very close.

Babu, working at an IT firm, was found to be in massive debt. After Babu was nabbed and questioned, the police learnt he had thought that she would have a good amount of money since Abraham was a real estate broker.

Babu, according to the police, had arrived at the apartment on November 17, and after having drinks with Abraham, he attacked her using a dumbbell when she was lying on her bed. After hitting her and injuring her, he dragged her to the toilet, left her there, and exited her flat. The police also pointed out that this was a pre-planned operation as there was a trial run on enacting the crime.

The police probe team is expected to gather the two accused to the apartment for evidence.

Coimbatore CSI All Souls’ Church Bishop Timothy Ravinder Summoned By Coimbatore Police Over Allegations Of Caste Discrimination And Election Manipulation

Coimbatore CSI All Souls' Church Bishop Timothy Ravinder Summoned By Coimbatore Police Over Allegations Of Caste Discrimination And Election Manipulation

Bishop Timothy Ravinder of the Church of South India (CSI) Coimbatore Diocese has been summoned by the Coimbatore city police concerning allegations of conspiracy and caste discrimination. The charges stem from an incident where the bishop allegedly removed a member of the church, effectively preventing him from participating in the upcoming elections. The expelled individual has filed a complaint with the Coimbatore police, seeking assistance in addressing the matter.

The CSI All Souls’ Church in Coimbatore has found itself embroiled in controversy after Reverend Pastor N. Charles Samraj, who the Coimbatore Diocese recently disrobed, leveled allegations of caste discrimination against the church leadership. Samraj, a Dalit, claimed that the Bishop, Timothy Ravinder, targeted him based on his caste in an attempt to prevent him from participating in the upcoming elections. He also alleged that the bishop’s actions were part of a broader pattern of discrimination against Dalit Christians, citing previous suspensions of other Dalit church members.

After his disrobing, Samraj approached the High Court, which quashed the decision. However, he claimed that under Bishop Ravinder’s leadership, the church has continued to prevent him from working freely, halting his salary and water supply, and exerting undue pressure on him. In response, Samraj filed a formal complaint with the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police (SP), accusing the bishop of ongoing caste-based discrimination and requesting protection. He further urged the authorities to ensure that the court’s directives were enforced. In light of these allegations, Bishop Ravinder has been summoned by the police for questioning.

Inflation To Ease, Economic Growth To Accelerate In Coming Months: Finance Ministry

India’s food inflation is likely to ease while the growth outlook for the economy is “cautiously optimistic” for the coming months as the agricultural sector is likely to benefit from favourable monsoon conditions, increased minimum support prices and adequate supply of inputs, according to the Finance Ministry’s monthly economic review released on Monday.

India’s retail inflation jumped in October 6.21 per cent, a 14-month high, driven by elevated food inflation in a few vegetables. Supply disruptions from heavy rains in major producing states contributed to price pressures on tomatoes, onions, and potatoes.

However, the bright agricultural production prospects make the inflation outlook benign, despite existing price pressures on select food items. Early November trends signalled moderation in key food prices, though geopolitical factors may continue to impact domestic inflation and supply chains, the report states.

Amid a clouded global background, and after a brief period of softening momentum over the monsoon months, many high-frequency indicators of economic activity in India have shown a rebound in October. These include indicators of rural and urban demand and supply side variables like Purchasing Managers’ Index and E-way bill generation, the report states.

On the employment front, the formal workforce is expanding, with notable increases in manufacturing jobs and a strong inflow of youth into organised sectors, it added. As far as the external sector is concerned, the report states that India’s export recovery may encounter challenges due to softening demand in developed markets.

However, trade in the services sector is sustaining momentum. Apart from the emerging indications of domestic growth and stability, the dynamics of global interest rates, earning growth and valuation, geopolitical developments and policy decisions of the next administration in the US will determine the course of trade and capital flows.

Recent developments in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine have caused some concern in financial markets with safe-haven assets such as US Treasuries and gold finding a bid. Geopolitical conditions remain fragile, it added.
