Rabid anti-Hindu fundamentalist Christian preacher Mohan C. Lazarus has called for prayers against the Centre’s proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), claiming that the legislation is aimed at targeting Christian churches, missionary organisations and institutions across India. In a prayer, Lazarus alleged that the amendments could allow Christian properties to be seized and auctioned and claimed that such assets could be handed over to corporates or groups linked to the RSS and Hindu Munnani. He urged Christians to pray for the proposed FCRA amendments to be stopped in Parliament.
In the prayer meeting held about a month ago, he began by saying, “Before the Tamil Nadu elections, the government attempted to introduce a new law in India; although it was defeated in Parliament at the time, the government is now keen to reintroduce it during the third week of July.
You might wonder what this law entails. Please pay close attention: they are introducing an amendment bill to the FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act). This law is designed to target and cripple Christian churches, institutions, and missionary ministries. There is a discrepancy between what is stated publicly and what is actually intended; the plan is to use the receipt of foreign funds—even for minor activities—as a pretext to freeze and seize the entire assets of these churches and ministries. Consider the many schools, colleges, and universities run by Catholic and CSI churches, as well as institutions like CMC Vellore—which were built using a mix of funds from the Indian public and foreign sources. The underlying agenda is to use this specific issue to confiscate the assets of Christian institutions and shut down churches and ministries across the country.
They are compiling an inventory of all Christian-run schools, colleges, hospitals, and universities across India with the aim of shutting them down. If this law is enacted, there will be no legal recourse available to challenge it in court; the plan is to cripple all Christian institutions through this legislation.”
He continued and began ‘praying’, “Recognizing the importance of this day, a “National Day of Prayer” has been organized for tomorrow—Sunday—across all churches in India; congregations everywhere will be praying about this. We must now pray earnestly and with one accord. I trust you understand the situation. Everyone, please raise your right hand. Our central government is introducing a flawed and cunning law designed to cripple Christians and their ministries, and to seize Christian institutions—they could even take over an institution like CMC. The law contains many such devious provisions; it is a very dangerous matter. Do you understand? If you do, shout “Hallelujah!” Now, raise your right hands; we must pray fervently for five minutes. “Lord, You must vindicate us. This law that the government is bringing against us—against Your church and Your ministries—must not come to pass; You must prevent it. Reveal that You are the God of all authority.” Everyone, cry out in prayer—pray as loudly as you can. Pray earnestly for five minutes without ceasing. “O God of heaven, You who sit upon the throne, King of kings and Lord of lords! With one accord, we stand against the amendment bill—the FCRA bill—that this government intends to introduce against the churches, Christian institutions, missionary organizations, schools, colleges, hospitals, and congregations in our land that were established by You…” We come to pray against this; Lord, please intervene. Everyone, pray earnestly—pray fervently. May the Lord reign in the Parliament; may God work within the Parliament. Everyone, pray—pray against this law. Satan is planning and acting to introduce a law—a law aimed against Christians, Christian organizations, churches, and institutions. Let this proposed FCRA Bill be thwarted. May the fear of the Lord arise in the Parliament; may those in authority be filled with the fear of the Lord. Everyone, lift your hands and pray—pray fervently. Lord, we pray and cry out to You; we commit the Parliament and its leaders into Your hands. May the Holy Spirit take charge. Everyone, keep praying—do not stop. Lord, we pray that such laws, deliberately planned against our nation, are not enacted. May You reign in the Parliament. This law rises against You; it is being enacted against Your ministry and Your Church. Lord, stretch forth Your hand; come down, O God. Let this FCRA Amendment Bill be completely halted. It is being enacted in opposition to You; You must stop it. We pray with a heavy burden; may the Lord [hear] the prayer…”
He then said, “Listen—Hallelujah, pay close attention. They have cunningly embedded certain subtle mechanisms within this law. They gather details about all Christian assets—tracking funds received from abroad, whether it is a hundred dollars or a thousand—and then appoint an official, likely someone affiliated with the RSS, to take control of these properties and put them up for auction. Once auctioned, these assets are acquired by corporate entities, RSS members, or Hindu Munnani affiliates for their own use. This is a cunning law; it is crucial to understand the underlying agenda: this government is attempting to steal the Lord’s property. Schools, colleges, and institutions like CMC—these belong to the Lord and the Church. They appoint an officer to take control of those assets and auction them off; once auctioned, corporates and members of the RSS or Hindu Munnani acquire them and use our properties for their own purposes. This is a cunning law. It is crucial to understand the underlying issue here: this government is attempting to steal the Lord’s property. Schools, colleges, and institutions like CMC—these are the Lord’s property; they belong to the Church. They are creating a situation through this law where they can steal these assets and hand them over to corporates and RSS-affiliated groups to use as they please. This is a very dangerous situation for us.”
Then he goes on to ‘pray’ saying, “Let us lift both hands toward heaven and pray: O God, seated on the throne, make it known that You are the Lord. Make it known that You are the One who rules over India. Our God rules over nations; make it known that the Lord—not this government, not these MPs, not this Parliament—is the Ruler of India. O jGod, Creator of heaven and earth and Ruler of nations, you must reveal this. Lord, they are laying hands on Your property; they are reaching out to seize what belongs to You—Your churches and Your assets. They have dared to stretch out their hands against Your property. O God seated on the throne, make it known that You are the God who rules over India. Make it known that You are the Ruler of India—the Creator and Ruler of our nation. Make it known—make it known, O God and King—that they are bringing forth this law against You and against Your interests. Stretch forth Your hand against that which rises up in opposition. Make it known that You are the mighty God; make it known that You are the God who rules over India. Make it known, O God—make it known! Reveal that You are the King of kings and the Lord of all the earth. May Satan’s plans be thwarted; may the devil’s schemes be brought to nothing.
In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus—O God, stretch forth Your hand. Stretch it forth! It is not our Parliament that rules India, Lord; You are the God who reigns. You are the God who rules over nations. Make this known; make it known! Cause our leaders to realize that there is a God who rules over India. May Satan be put to shame; may his plans be thwarted. In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus—everyone, lift your right hand and praise the Lord. Lord, this law shall not come to pass; You will not allow this law to be enacted. No one can touch what belongs to You. Praise Him, praise Him! In the name of Jesus, we praise You. This law will not come; You will not permit it. No power rising against You shall stand. Our Lord is the God who grants victory. We praise You for granting us victory; we praise You for the victory You have given. We praise You for answering our prayers. We believe; we clap our hands and shout Your praises.
Amen, Amen.”
