Karma Once Again Hits Suriya Who Peddled Hate Against Brahmins And Vanniyars, Retro Becomes Yet Another Massive Flop In His Downhill Career

Suriya who had peddled canards and hatred against Brahmins and Vanniyars in his film Jai Bhim is now facing the wrath of karma as the actor has hit a record of hattrick flops.

The nefarious propagandist actor who used his stardom to virtue signal is now being made to bite the dust.

Many moviegoers walked into theatres with high hopes for Retro, believing it to be a powerful comeback for Dravidianist actor Suriya. However, their faith wasn’t solely in him—it largely rested on three pillars: director Karthik Subbaraj, music composer Santhosh Narayanan, and the viral buzz surrounding the song “Kanimma.” Yet, the final product left audiences baffled.

Instead of offering a fresh cinematic experience, the film seemed to recycle elements from Karthik Subbaraj’s previous works, creating a collage of familiar visuals and themes from his own “cinematic universe.” Even the much-hyped “Kanimma” song failed to recreate the experience on screen, with the soundtrack being the only mildly redeeming aspect of the movie.

What viewers hoped would mark Suriya’s grand comeback ended up feeling more like an underwhelming sequel to Kanguva. With sluggish pacing and uninspired execution, Retro has drawn criticism from all corners—be it Tamil audiences, Malayalam viewers, or even international fans. Instead of cheering for Suriya’s return, many seem to be enjoying the film’s roast-worthy reception online.

Adding fuel to the fire, well-known Tamil reviewer “Blue Sattai” Maran of Tamil Talkies tore the film apart in his review. His sharp critique, dissecting the movie scene by scene, echoed the sentiments of disappointed fans and served as a loud warning to those who hadn’t yet seen the film.

Maran began his review by pointing out that the film lacked any coherent logic, instead wandering aimlessly in an attempt to tell a story that left audiences disconnected and confused. Mocking the film’s narrative structure, he sarcastically remarked, “This story jumps to the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, to the Itihasas and Puranas, then travels through the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and even to the B.C. era—only to tell some ghost story. And that’s supposed to be the story!”

Then he roasted the story’s plot stating, “In cinema, experienced writers and screenwriters often mention a particular phrase, which is, ‘A good story will demand and bring in the right scenes it needs on its own.’ That’s how a strong story takes shape. But there’s something they don’t usually say, just like that, a lousy (or mokka) story will also naturally demand equally and adds lousy scenes, and that all lousy scenes together piled up a story is Retro.”

Maran then pointed out another major flaw: a compelling story needs a strong, clearly defined villain. But in Retro, the audience is left confused—was the villain Joju George? Prakash Raj? Nassar? Or maybe even Nassar’s son? The identity of the antagonist itself feels like a mystery. He remarked that if the villain’s role is so ambiguous, how can the character be expected to carry any real weight? Ultimately, the film fails on that front too.

He also criticized the film’s erratic and illogical setting transitions starts from Thoothukudi to Kashi, then randomly to Africa and the Andaman Islands—without any explanation or narrative sense.

Maran said, “The story that starts in Thoothukudi goes all over the place. A lady dies in Thoothukudi, but we don’t know why they take her body and bury her in Kashi. Then suddenly, the story shifts to Africa. From there, it moves to the Andaman Islands, and again, we have no idea why. Once it reaches the Andamans, what does the villain does there? he’s keeping slaves and making them fight like gladiators. And you know how gladiators are, right? He’s got 10 people lined up side to side like it’s Saturday sacrifice day, and laughing at their fight. Then there’s a big well, filled with crocodiles. They start throwing people into it and tossing kids in it. They’ve reused leftover dolls from Kanguva. Out of nowhere, they bring in Jayaram for ‘laughter therapy’ and try to make a comedy scene out of it. But it just doesn’t work not even a little. If they had tried a comedy scene and it didn’t land, that’s one thing. But here, they said, ‘This is laughter therapy, we’ll make you laugh,’ and tried hard and still, no one laughed, what to do. Then, finally, there was one genuinely funny moment in the film, when they were prepping Suriya’s getup, they dressed him looked like the Redin Kingsley that was hilarious for us… even though the film treated it seriously. Yet, it was hilarious for us.”

In one brutally honest line, “Blue Sattai” Maran summed it up in sync with audience sentiment—many now see Kanguva as the better film by comparison. He suggested that Retro might only be seen in a positive light if an even worse movie comes out next, and until then, viewers are better off spending their time elsewhere.

Jaisalmer Man Pathan Khan Arrested For Passing Army Secrets To Pakistan

In the wake of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025 that claimed 26 lives, Indian security and intelligence agencies have intensified operations targeting individuals suspected of collaborating with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). On 1 May 2025, Rajasthan Intelligence arrested Pathan Khan, a resident of Noor-Ki-Chakki village in Jaisalmer district, for allegedly spying for the ISI for over a decade.

According to intelligence officials, Khan initially visited Pakistan in 2013 on a personal trip, during which he came into contact with ISI operatives. He was reportedly lured with money and later trained in espionage activities. Officials confirmed that Khan maintained regular contact with ISI handlers even after his first visit and continued to pass on sensitive and confidential information related to India’s defense infrastructure, particularly from areas along the Jaisalmer International Border.

The Director General of the Intelligence Department, Sanjay Agrawal, stated that Khan had been under surveillance based on internal intelligence inputs. He was detained on 18 March 2025, by local police while claiming to be a farmer named “Ravi Kishan,” with agricultural land in the Zero RD area of Noor-Ki-Chakki — a location close to the Indo-Pak border. After extensive questioning, he was formally arrested on 1 May 2025.

Investigators revealed that Khan used social media platforms and forged SIM cards to relay classified information to Pakistani handlers. He allegedly sent videos and photos of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and their operations from protected zones. The ISI reportedly compensated him through various covert financial channels.

A case has been registered against Khan under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and further investigations are underway to assess the extent of the breach and the volume of information shared.

Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam massacre, Indian villagers living near the international border in Rajasthan have expressed strong support for the Indian Army and called for retaliation. Locals have constructed bunkers to shelter civilians and troops in case of a military escalation. They remain on high alert as the atmosphere grows increasingly volatile.

Speaking to ANI, Arjun Singh, an elderly resident from a border village, condemned the Pahalgam killings and advocated for a firm response. “It is absolutely necessary to respond to Pakistan. They keep provoking us, and what they did in Pahalgam, killing unarmed civilians, is unacceptable. The army must strike back,” he said. Recalling the 1971 war, he added, “I was in Ramgarh when bombs were falling. Back then, we helped the army in every way possible. Today also, we are ready to assist, no matter the hardship.”

In a parallel development, Pakistan has increased its military activity along the border. The Pakistani military has deployed air defense and artillery units at forward locations. The Pakistan Air Force is conducting three simultaneous exercises — Fiza-e-Badr, Lalkar-e-Momin, and Zarb-e-Haidari — involving its key fighter jets, including the F-16, J-10, and JF-17.

On April 30, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan held a hotline conversation to discuss recent ceasefire violations. Indian defense sources stated that the Indian side issued a stern warning to Pakistan regarding the unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border.

Indian forces responded effectively to the ceasefire violations on the night of April 27–28, particularly in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts in Jammu and Kashmir.

The developments underscore escalating tensions between the two nations in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, as both security measures and military posturing intensify on either side of the border.

VCK Women’s Wing Secretary And Accomplice Arrested For Daylight Robbery In Erode Targeting Elderly Woman

vck daylight robbery

In a startling incident in Erode district, an elderly woman was robbed in broad daylight by a man and woman posing as customers. The victim, 69-year-old Arukani, had been helping her daughter Dhanalakshmi run a furniture store in Anna Nagar, located on Ingur Road, Chennimalai. Originally from Singanallur, Coimbatore, Arukani had been staying with her daughter to support her business operations.

On the morning of 28 April 2025, as part of her daily routine, Arukani arrived at the shop. A young man and woman rode up on a scooter. While the woman stayed seated outside, the man entered the shop and pretended to inquire about a bureau. Trusting him, Arukani showed him some furniture and began discussing prices. Seizing the opportunity, the man suddenly snatched the 3-sovereign gold chain from her neck and sprinted out of the store. The pair quickly fled on the waiting scooter.

Shocked, Arukani called out for help, alerting nearby residents, but the thieves had already vanished. She filed a complaint at the Chennimalai police station, prompting an immediate investigation. Police reviewed CCTV footage from the area and soon identified the female suspect.

She was recognized as 30-year-old Tamilselvi from Tyagi Kumaran Nagar near Chennimalai. To the police’s surprise, she was revealed to be the Women’s Wing Secretary of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) for Erode South District.

Acting on a tip-off, police located Tamilselvi and her male accomplice at Erode Bus Stand the following morning. Both were taken into custody and interrogated at Chennimalai police station.

During questioning, it was revealed that Tamilselvi was in a relationship with 25-year-old Ramesh, a construction worker from Pudukkothukadu near Ariyappalayam, Sathyamangalam. The couple had allegedly planned and executed the theft together after observing that Arukani was alone in the store.

Further investigation uncovered that Tamilselvi and Ramesh had previously stolen a similar gold chain from another neighbor. They had mortgaged the stolen jewellery at a private finance company in Erode for ₹1.45 lakh, which was then deposited into Tamilselvi’s bank account.

Both suspects have been arrested and are expected to be produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.

YouTuber Felix Gerald Says Indian Army Is “Dummy Piece” When Compared To China

felix gerald india china youtube

Dravidianist YouTuber and editor-in-chief of RedPix, Felix Gerald, has come under fire for making controversial remarks about the Indian Army during a recent discussion on his channel. Known for frequently hosting content critical of Indian sentiments and nationalism, Gerald has now drawn backlash for calling the Indian military a “dummy piece” in comparison to China, provoking strong reactions from netizens.

In his latest video, Felix Gerald was joined by Arulmozhi Varman, another known Dravidianist sympathizer, to discuss the recent Pahalgam terror attacks, which specifically targeted Hindus. As the two analyzed the central government’s possible responses and the broader geopolitical landscape, the conversation took a turn that many viewers found disrespectful toward India’s defense forces.

What Did Felix Gerald Say?

During the discussion, Arulmozhi Varman asked, “As you were saying, where is the support for India in this geopolitical situation? You say the US is neutral, China also takes Pro-Pakistan stance, Sri Lanka is useless, and Bangladesh is ineffective.” Gerald responded, “You should also consider the strength of the Indian Army, right.” Arulmozhi pressed further, “I’m asking what happens if China and Pakistan join forces?”

Gerald replied, “Whether China will get directly involved is the bigger question.” Arulmozhi followed up, “So you’re saying China won’t participate directly?” Gerald answered, “No, they won’t get directly involved. They may provide weapons.” Arulmozhi then asked, “Won’t that support be enough?” Felix Gerald concluded, “It may weaken India economically, but that alone won’t give Pakistan a win. Yes, the Indian Army is larger and stronger, but when compared to China, we’re just a ‘dummy piece’. Against Pakistan, we are stronger.”

These comments were perceived as belittling the Indian armed forces, especially in the context of a discussion on national security following a terror attack. The backlash on social media has been swift, with many accusing Gerald of undermining national morale and promoting anti-India rhetoric under the guise of political critique.

The irony lies in the fact that while China has long portrayed itself as a dominant military power, it has consistently avoided participating in any full-scale war playing as a scarecrow in Taiwan issue. Unlike India, which has proven its defense capabilities through actual combat experience and active involvement in bilateral and multilateral military exercises, China’s might remains largely theoretical and untested. Meanwhile, India has steadily strengthened its defense infrastructure and continues to build its military and strategic readiness with consistent effort.

Yet, these YouTubers persist in spreading narratives that undermine India’s strength, often favoring China while ignoring India’s actual capabilities and its growing influence through soft power. These self-styled analysts frequently mention China, Pakistan, the U.S., Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh but rarely acknowledge India’s true and time-tested allies like Israel, Russia, and France—nations that have stood firmly with India, even during its toughest conflicts. Instead of pushing clickbait content that questions the nation’s competence for the sake of views, perhaps they should focus on responsible journalism that reflects facts and fosters national awareness.

₹91,300 Per Person From Indian Taxpayers—And Still, ‘Kashmir Is Not India’?

kashmir indian taxpayer

For over seven decades, the Indian state has extended a disproportionately generous hand to Jammu & Kashmir—economically, politically, and diplomatically. Yet, despite receiving more per capita funding than any other Indian state, segments of the Kashmiri Muslim population continue to reject Indian sovereignty, even going as far as to declare, We do not consider Kashmir as a part of India and refuse to say Bharat Mata ki Jai.”

This separatist mindset, festering in parts of the Valley, is not just ungrateful—it is parasitic. While Kashmiris chant slogans of azadi and flirt with Pakistani symbols, they do so while living off Indian taxpayers’ hard-earned money, the majority of which comes from the verykafirs” they deride.

The Truth Behind The Numbers

Between 2000 and 2016, Jammu & Kashmir received a staggering 10% of all central government funds—despite comprising only 1% of India’s population. That translates to ₹91,300 per Kashmiri, while an average resident of Uttar Pradesh—home to 13% of India’s population—received only ₹4,300 during the same period. In fiscal terms, the Centre has treated J&K like royalty, while the rest of India has footed the bill.

Even among the so-calledspecial categorystates (mostly from the North-East), Jammu & Kashmir has been disproportionately privileged. It received 25% of total funds disbursed to all 11 such states, far exceeding its demographic or economic justification.

This generosity wasn’t new. Between 1957-58 and 1961-62, J&K received the highest per capita grant-in-aid in the country—seven times the national average. The trend continued for decades under the belief that economic integration would pacify the region and win hearts. Instead, it only empowered corrupt local elites and entrenched a narrative of entitlement and victimhood.

Fiscal Mismanagement And Corruption

Despite this flood of funding, J&K remained financially dysfunctional. According to a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, as of March 2014, the state had over 32,625 audit observations pending across 8,518 inspection reports, highlighting serious financial irregularities. Funds were either misused or left unused due to flawed budgeting and unrealistic resource forecasting.

In FY16 alone, central grants made up 54% of the state’s total revenue and 44% of its expenditure. Without central support, Jammu & Kashmir’s administration would collapse. Yet, instead of showing accountability or gratitude, the narrative from sections of the Valley remains filled with antagonism, victimhood, and open rebellion.

No Service Tax, Still Special Treatment

To make matters worse, J&K was exempt from service tax, meaning it did not contribute to the central tax pool in the same proportion as other states. Still, it received an outsized share of Plan Grants and other non-plan assistance. Even after the 12th Finance Commission recommended stopping Plan Grants to most states, Jammu & Kashmir continued receiving them under thehilly and border stateexemption.

The Question of Loyalty

The core issue is not just economic. It is ideological. When beneficiaries of national generosity reject the nation itself, the problem transcends fiscal policy. It becomes a question of loyalty and national integrity. Why should Indian taxpayers continue funding a region where significant sections openly disown the Republic?

India has every right to support the development of border states, especially conflict-prone ones. However, development aid should not subsidize separatism. The argument that these funds are necessary to keep Kashmirwith Indiahas clearly failed. No nation sustains unity by paying to be hated.

Generosity without accountability has only emboldened anti-national sentiments. Those who deny India’s sovereignty while living off its money must be called out. The people of India, especially taxpayers, deserve to know the truth about where their money has gone—and who has been abusing it. Kashmiris who openly defy the nation must be told: that India is not an ATM for separatism. Loyalty to the nation cannot be optional when you benefit from it more than anyone else.

Karnataka Govt Bus Driver Stops Bus For Offering Namaz Inside Vehicle, Suspended

karnataka govt bus driver namaz suspended

A driver-cum-conductor employed with the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) has been suspended after a video surfaced showing him offering namaz inside a government bus while on duty. The incident reportedly occurred on 30 April 2025 during a scheduled service from Hangal in Haveri district to Vishalgad, Maharashtra.

The driver, who belongs to the Hangal depot, was seen in the video offering prayers from a passenger seat inside a packed bus. The footage, allegedly recorded by passengers, quickly went viral on social media, prompting official action. Some passengers were also seen verbally complaining about the incident to authorities.

Following the circulation of the video, NWKRTC’s Haveri Divisional Controller, Vijaykumar G, issued a suspension order against the driver. NWKRTC Managing Director Priyanga M said she became aware of the incident on Wednesday night and immediately directed the suspension of the staffer pending an enquiry. Authorities are currently verifying whether the driver stopped the bus specifically to perform the prayers and whether it caused inconvenience to passengers.

NWKRTC, which is an arm of the state-run Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), operates bus services in nine divisions across northern and western Karnataka. The managing director emphasized that while the right to practise religion is respected, operational duties must not be disrupted by personal religious activities.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy confirmed the suspension and reiterated that religious practices while on duty would not be tolerated. He stressed that Karnataka’s public transport system has earned a reputation for being efficient and passenger-friendly, and incidents like these could undermine that image. He directed the NWKRTC headquarters in Hubballi to ensure that such conduct is not repeated.

The divisional controller described the incident as a clear breach of conduct and confirmed that disciplinary proceedings are underway. Passenger complaints regarding the driver’s actions have been officially recorded as part of the investigation.

Meet Karthik Subbaraj, The Dravidianist Filmmaker Who Supports Urban Naxals And Rajiv Gandhi Killer, Opposes CAA That Benefits Persecuted Hindus, Peddles Propaganda Against Hindu Groups, And Amplified DMK Propaganda During AIADMK Period

Director Karthik Subbaraj’s latest offering “Retro” starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde has made its theatrical debut to mixed reactions. While audiences might evaluate the film purely on its entertainment value, there are legitimate concerns about the filmmaker’s controversial political stances that deserve consideration before supporting his work.

Karthik Subbaraj burst onto the Tamil cinema scene with Naalaya Iyakkunar, a reality show for aspiring filmmakers telecasted by DMK’ official mouthpiece Kalaignar TV. He proved to be a promising director with his breakout sleeper hit “Pizza” (2012), a low-budget supernatural thriller that captivated audiences with its innovative storytelling and clever plot twists. This unexpected debut from an unknown filmmaker showcased exceptional talent and promised a fresh voice in Kollywood’s often formulaic landscape.

Building on this initial success, Subbaraj continued to impress critics and viewers alike with films such as “Jigarthanda” (2014), the female-centric “Iraivi” (2016), and the experimental silent film “Mercury” (2018). Each project demonstrated his versatility and apparent commitment to meaningful cinema that challenged conventions.

The collaboration with superstar Rajinikanth for “Petta” (2019) seemed to elevate Subbaraj to the top tier of Tamil directors. What appeared to be his crowning achievement, however, marked a troubling turning point. What had once been subtle thematic elements evolved into increasingly overt Dravidianist political messaging that began overshadowing his once-promising artistic vision.

With each subsequent release, audiences witnessed Subbaraj’s transition from an innovative storyteller to a filmmaker apparently more interested in political posturing than cinematic excellence. His narratives gradually became vehicles for divisive Dravidianist propaganda rather than the groundbreaking storytelling that initially earned him acclaim.

His latest venture “Retro,” released on 1 May 2025, has become a lightning rod for controversy, facing harsh criticism from fans and critics alike. The pairing of Subbaraj with actor Suriya—himself known for virtue signalling people has only intensified scrutiny from viewers growing weary of entertainers leveraging their platforms for ideological activism rather than focusing on their craft.

Karthik Subbaraj – Used Film To Peddle Propaganda

Let’s take a look at how Karthik Subbaraj peddled propaganda through his film Petta.

Featuring Rajinikanth in Petta, viewers can find subtle attacks on Hindutva and Hindu rights groups like Bajrang Dal, with characters sporting tilaks often shown as religious bigots, while Rajinikanth’s character helps a Muslim couple, Anwar and Anu, get married, showing him as the do-gooder. Rajinikanth chose to do Petta which showed Bajrang Dal in bad light – all thanks to the director’s “brilliant” writing to suit the powers that be.

Love For Naxals & Terrorists, LTTE Sympathizer – Karthik Subbaraj

Let us also take a look at the personal opinions and who he sides with. Did you know that Karthik Subbaraj is a known sympathizer of LTTE and Naxals like Daniel/Thirumurugan Gandhi?

Here are some screenshots of his X posts that show his outpouring of love and support for the criminals who were involved in the assassination of the Prime Minister of our country.

Love For Terrorist Perarivalan Who Helped Kill Rajiv Gandhi

A.G. Perarivalan is a terrorist convicted for assassinating former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and we have the likes of Subbaraj vouching for his innocence.

When the terrorist was released, he thanked everyone. Looks like he was over the moon!

Love For Urban Naxal Separatist Thirumurugan Gandhi

Thirumurugan Gandhi, a separatist who cloaks himself in the rhetoric of Tamil nationalism, is a simple political fringe, leading a small group called the ‘May 17 Movement’. While he presents himself as a UN speaker, human rights activist, and advocate for Tamil rights, he is nothing, but a two-bit Dravidianist stooge who was propped by the DMK ecosystem.

And we have people like Subbaraj supporting him – their love for LTTE terror organization would have brought them together.

Karthik Subbaraj Was Against Central Government Policies & Projects

Karthik Subbaraj, like many of his Dravidianwood peers, has shown loyalty to the present ruling state government by voicing out against central government projects like the hydrocarbon project in Neduvasal.

Look at him threatening – “When Farmers says NO it’s a NO!!”

People like him have been influencing the lay citizens to go against development and deny people job opportunities while they make such posts from their airconditioned bedrooms in their ivory towers.

He did the same for the Kudankulam nuclear power plant! He wanted politicians to watch the documentary on Chernobyl and use it as a reason to stop the nuclear power plant in TN. Was he so naive that people were not aware of why Chernobyl happened?

He has also been a vocal “anti-NEET” person. Here’s proof.

According to him, getting to NEET exam centres was so difficult so they need to ban it!

Want to see how he showed his loyalty to the present CM and his son? See this!

Like every other celebrity in town, Subbaraj cried in pain for Benix and Felix but did not open their mouth about what happened to any other custodial death victim or even open their mouth for the Vengaivayal faeces mixing incident.

Here’s Subbaraj doing lip service to terror attacks that happened in Kashmir without naming the perpetrators. Look at the language he uses – like every other Dravidianist, given a chance, it feels like he will also peddle the same lies that people like Senthilvel and Madan Gowri peddle and whitewash the real Islamic terrorists from Pakistan as some “foreigners”. Here’s what he said for Pulwama terror attack:

And this is what he said for the Pahalgam attack a few days ago.

In 2019, a number of rape incidents occurred across the country, and they kept making headlines. It was also the time that the Modi government had just come back to power for the second time. Here’s Subbaraj calling the country unsafe! But we did not find any posts or messages on the gruesome Anna University rape case!

How can we forget these Kollywood celebrities and their vocal voices against CAA. Here’s Karthik Subbaraj doing the needful. He found it “seriously wrong and against secularism” and wanted to keep India “secular”. How kind! In the same vein, he even voices against NRC.

Last but not the least, here’s Karthik Subbaraj showing his support for the pusillanimous Ra Ranjith who will not talk about atrocities against Dalits when inconvenient. We all know what this “gaana concert” was initiated to achieve.

Retro, the latest offering from the Subbaraj stable is nothing but trash, as indicated by fans. You can check out the reviews here. Just for your satisfaction, we have included a review of a Malayali fan. Here’s what she says, “This is a script meant for Vijay and it looks like Suriya has acted in it, something to save himself. It is not like Malayalis don’t like ‘mass’ films, if that were the case Mohanlal’s films and films like KGF would have flopped. They seem to have made a script jsut for the sake of it, included fights for the sake of it, it was very silent inside the theatre, people just clapped when Suriya walked here and there. The climax was a comedy! People were laughing in the climax. It was a hopeless film. But compared to Kanguva, it is better.”

Like the fan, it only feels as if Subbaraj has joined the bandwagon of Suriya to make black money white and make trash films just for the sake of it!

After Cabinet Re-Entry, DMK’s Mano Thangaraj Meets Christian Evangelist Paul Dhinakaran

mano thangaraj paul dinakaran dmk

Padmanabhapuram DMK MLA T Mano Thangaraj, who was recently re-inducted into Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s cabinet, has drawn criticism following his meeting with Dr. Paul Dhinakaran, the head of the Jesus Calls Ministries—a figure often regarded as controversial. The timing of the meeting, which came just a day after the re-induction in the cabinet after resignations of ministers Senthil Balaji and K. Ponmudy.

On 1 May 2025, Mano Thangaraj, who now oversees the Milk and Dairy Development portfolio, shared a post on social media stating, “I met and greeted Dr. Paul Dinakaran, the leader of Jesus Calls Ministries and the Chancellor of Karunya University!”

Critics have accused the DMK of hypocrisy, pointing out the party’s repeated claims of upholding secularism while allegedly promoting minority appeasement. This includes sharing platforms with religious figures known for making divisive remarks, particularly against Hinduism, which many see as contradictory to the rationalist and atheist principles the DMK claims to follow, inspired by E.V. Ramasamy Naicker.

This isn’t the first instance of such allegations. Following the DMK’s success in the 18th Lok Sabha elections, newly elected MPs—Dayanidhi Maran (Central Chennai), Thamizhachi Thangapandian (Chennai South), and Kalanidhi Veeraswamy (Chennai North)—visited Archbishop George Antonysamy of the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore. Antonysamy had recently faced allegations of trying to influence voters through religious appeals during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Their visit sparked backlash on social media, with users questioning the DMK’s stance on secularism.

These recurring incidents have led to growing public concern about the DMK’s double standards—professing atheism and rationalism while simultaneously engaging in selective religious appeasement, often at the cost of Hindu sentiments.

sringeri sharaada peetham pahalgam terror attack

In a compassionate gesture, Sri Vidhusekhara Bharathi Swamiji, the head of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, has announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the 26 victims who lost their lives in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The gruesome attack, which occurred on 22 April 2025 in the Baisaran Valley area of Pahalgam—a popular tourist destination—claimed the lives of 26 people, sparking nationwide outrage and grief.

Condemning the attack in strong terms, Sri Vidhusekhara Bharathi Swamiji expressed profound sorrow over the loss and urged solidarity among Hindus. “Twenty-six families are grieving the loss of their loved ones. Hindus must stand by fellow Hindus. Therefore, on behalf of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, we are offering ₹2 lakh to each family as a sacred offering (prasada),” he said.

The seer also extended his blessings to the bereaved families, praying for their peace, happiness, and future prosperity. The compensation will be distributed as prasada through the Peetham’s administrative wing, which will coordinate efforts to ensure the aid reaches victims’ families across India.

This support comes in addition to the compensation announced by the Karnataka government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had earlier declared a ₹10 lakh relief for each of the families of victims from Karnataka.

Sri Vidusekhara Bharathi Swamiji, the successor-designate to Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji, reaffirmed the Sringeri Mutt’s dedication to serving and supporting the Hindu community in times of crisis.

Retro Disaster: Netizens Call Suriya’s Latest Film As Kanguva 2, Time And Money Waste; Hattrick Flop For Suriya

suriya tamil cinema

DMK-sympathizing Dravidianist actor Suriya, appears to have walked into yet another box-office disaster with Retro, leaving audiences once again disappointed—especially on the heels of his recent flop, Kanguva. Viewers have pointed out that in both films, Suriya’s performance swings between excessive shouting and overacting, lacking the subtlety expected from a seasoned actor.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro was touted as a highly anticipated Tamil romantic action drama. Featuring Suriya and Pooja Hegde in lead roles, the film hit theaters worldwide on 1 May 2025. Produced by Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment, expectations were high due to the film’s unique genre blend, acclaimed cast, and the director’s strong track record.

Set amidst themes of love, crime, and redemption, the story follows Paarivel ‘Paari’ Kannan—a gangster trying to leave behind his violent past to start a new life with his wife Rukmini, played by Pooja Hegde. However, as old enemies resurface and secrets unravel, Paari’s journey toward peace spirals into emotional turmoil and action-laced conflict.

Despite the promising premise and strong production team, the film failed to leave a lasting impact. Viewers and netizens alike criticized Retro for being a time-waster, arguing that no amount of star power or technical finesse can salvage a film lacking in emotional engagement or a gripping storyline.

Some of the audience reactions and criticisms are summarized below:

One of the netizens lamented, #Retro – an overstuffed tiring, exhausting bore fest that loses engagement after the 25 min mark. At times had to look at my watch as to when the movie would end. @Suriya_offl deserves better than this film, not one bit a comeback.”

Another netizens reviewed the movie stating, “#Retro too many layers , too many plots and too many minutes precisely 168 minutes wasted as well , though there are exceptional scenes here and there it lacks the coherence and is disappointing.”

Another netizen lamented, “After Watching Retro, we are the Joker. Worst Movie.”

Another netizens reviewd the movie stating, “#Retro review. Dei Karthik Subbaraj, you’ll never be okay… why did you make it this cringe? 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Suriya could’ve toned down his overacting… the jail scene was straight-up laughable. Please quit cinema… you’ve made us cry like this… Hey sk fans, you will pay for this.”

Another netizen reviewed the movie stating, “Retro Movie Review #RetroReview FDFS Review from my US Friend. Another disaster from Surya. deadly boring Positives: Pooja Hegde Negatives: All others Criticism: Poor screen play. Karthik Subburaj should have given the screenplay impacting, or film should have been sprinkled with comedy. Mixed with both, film struggles where to be serious and where to sow comedy Result? Painful for the watchers.”

Another netizen shared a video of a frustrated moviegoer who slammed the film, saying it was a complete waste of money. The viewer sarcastically remarked, “For spending ₹250 in the morning, they made us to laugh (comedy show). It wasn’t goosebumps it was Kanguva 2.” Alongside the video, the netizen trolled, “Kanguva 2, huh? I thought he’d move up from tier 2 to tier 1… but Suriya’s fallen to tier 3 instead.” in the video the audience lamented saying, “For spending 250 ruppe they have made us laugh. It was not a goosebump, its Kanguva 2”

Another netizen mocked, “At least in Kanguva you could have run out of the theater saying the shouting gave you ear pain… 😂 But Retro? It’s not like that — you can peacefully fall asleep… 😂 Despite this if you are still thinking of watching it? Then you’re going to end up like ‘3-movie Dhanush'”

Another netizen mocked the film by sharing a satirical news card claiming that Suriya’s ‘Retro’ struggled to fill seats even for its First Day First Show, leaving theatre owners stunned.

One of the audience, frustrated after watching the movie Retro, told the media, “Retro didn’t really connect with me. It felt like they combined two or three movies into one and stuffed on us. I don’t understand why they took such lengthy one. It’s a three-hour film, and it has so much content takes that long just to tell the story. There’s so much drag and lag. Once the first half is over, it feels like the movie ends there, the second half  is entirely different content for film.”

He continued, “It felt like Suriya wanted to showcase everything his emotions, action in a single film. And the climax of this film felt like a remake of Jigarthanda 2 climax. If you look at the film in parts, Santhosh Narayanan did well with the music, and Pooja Hegde gave her career-best performance. But when you see it as a whole, you’re left wondering—why such huge content, such length? It was very lengthy and dragging.” He added, “He goes in search of love, then full action, then back to love, and again full-on action. It starts in one place, wanders off somewhere else, and finally ends in Jigarthanda 2 climax.” He rated the film 6 out of 10.

Another audience member shared their thoughts, “Both the first and second halves are too lengthy. Suriya’s presence was good, and the songs was also good. The vibe of the ‘Kanima’ song was awesome. What else? Well, we expected more from the story, but if you go in with low expectations, the movie is enjoyable. It was a comeback for Suriya he performed his part well.”

He continued, “I’d say go in with lower expectations, and you’ll probably enjoy the movie more. I went in with high expectations, so I felt a bit let down. The film runs for three hours, so there’s definitely a lag. They tried to make up for it with fight sequences—it worked to some extent, but not entirely. There’s a lot of action, and he has done martial arts in the film too.”

Another viewer harshly criticized the film, calling it strictly average even when watched in theatres. He remarked, “Bro, this is just an average movie. It’s nowhere to claim being ‘super’ or ‘awesome.’ Even with the theatre experience, it felt average and if you’re watching on OTT, you can’t watch.”

He went on to say the script felt very plain and unimpressive. “Usually, movies pick up pace in the second half, but here, only the first half had some energy. After the flashback scene, people were just watching it casually. I don’t think it really made an impact on anyone.”

He lamented, “The entry and opening for him were solid, and his fight scene was impressive—but once the actual story began, there was nothing. That is the problem”
