YouTuber and social media influencer Kavya Karnatac, who has previously faced criticism over the dissemination of misinformation, is once again at the centre of controversy after hosting former NDTV journalists Priyanshi Sharma and Vedanta Aggarwal on her podcast, where sweeping allegations of editorial interference at NDTV following the Adani Group’s acquisition were made without documentary evidence.
The interview, published as part of the Learn By KK Create Podcast, has since gone viral after a four-minute clip from the conversation began circulating widely on social media.
During the interview, Kavya Karnatac asked Vedanta Aggarwal, “When Adani acquired NDTV, what changes did you see?”
Responding to the question, Aggarwal alleged that editorial independence at NDTV had declined after the takeover.
He said, “I think the immediate change was that all our editors left. A big change happened when we saw for the first time that some stories were being completely blocked. In Manipur, you might remember one of those viral videos which changed the entire story of Manipur, the two women who were paraded naked, when that video went viral, we got an order from the higher-ups that only one specific ticker must be run – that the Women and Child Development Minister, Smriti Irani, has spoken to those people and has taken cognizance of the incident. We were told only to run this ticker and not the story. So for the first time, we felt that the story was not being reported but the government response to it, that is the only thing that is being reported…”
Aggarwal further alleged that NDTV’s editorial priorities shifted after the acquisition, claiming coverage increasingly highlighted the government’s response first and that events such as the G20 Summit were presented as celebrations rather than being reported neutrally.
When asked by Kavya Karnatac about how government directives allegedly reached newsrooms, Aggarwal replied, “In case of government, every government, not that the UPA did not try to censor any news channels, from all governments, proprietors, owners received calls about the news that one was running… Now since the proprietors are the ones installed by the government, it has become such a flow that editor-in-chief will get a call from the proprietor, and the editor-in-chief will come out and tell you that a specific news item has to be taken in the bulletin… If the PM is speaking, so a cut has to be made, that is the gospel truth of all these channels, this is our editorial principle that if the PM is speaking, it has to be reported.”
The allegations were swiftly rejected by Adani Group Chief Financial Officer Jugeshinder “Robbie” Singh, who oversees the group’s investment in NDTV.
Responding publicly, Singh described the claims as entirely fabricated and challenged the interviewees to substantiate them.
Quoting the video clipping on his X handle, he wrote, “Falsehoods and complete hallucination. I offer my email and phone records or travel logs to any independent commission.”
He further added, “As the senior most person, in charge of NDTV investment, if the report even finds one message or email or my presence at editorial meetings or call to any journalist, I will donate INR 10 crore of personal after tax money to any cause of these clowns below.”

Singh’s response directly contradicted the allegations made during the podcast, maintaining that there had been no editorial intervention by him or the Adani Group.
