Azeem Abdul Jabbar, Accused Of Cropping Anojan Sivarasa’s Comment And Orchestrating An Online Campaign, Deactivates X Account Amid Backlash

Who Is Azeem Abdul Jabbar Accused Of Cropping Anojan Sivarasas Comment And Orchestrating An Online Campaign

After The Commune’s report brought renewed attention to social media posts attributed to Sri Lankan national Azeem Abdul Jabbar, his X account appears to have been deactivated.

However, his YouTube account remains active, with videos and commentary continuing to draw scrutiny over his religious views.

The development comes amid allegations of an online campaign targeting Sri Lankan national Anojan Sivarasa, who faces a death sentence in Saudi Arabia over a now-deleted social media comment that came in response to a derogatory comment from a Sri Lankan Muslim about Lord Shiva.

It is alleged that his comment was circulated without the preceding exchange, in which he was responding to an insult against a Hindu deity. Jabbar has been accused of amplifying the controversy by sharing a cropped version of the comment.

Our earlier report examined posts attributed to Jabbar concerning women’s education, early marriage and gender segregation, as well as allegations about his role in amplifying the controversy surrounding Anojan.

In a post dated 21 July 2026, under the name “Azeem Srilanki,” he argued that parents concerned about protecting girls’ virginity could consider alternatives to conventional schooling, suggesting that children did not necessarily have to attend school to receive an education. He also referred to the growth of homeschooling in developed countries, claiming that sexual problems were a principal reason for the trend.

Another statement attributed to him argues that early marriage is preferable to losing virginity in the name of modernity, presenting married life as genuine civilisation and describing sex outside marriage as prostitution.

These statements seem to advocate restrictions on girls’ education and promoting early marriage as a means of controlling female sexuality.

Jabbar’s apparent departure from X has not removed his content from other platforms. His YouTube account remains accessible, and his posts can still be viewed there.

The controversy has also affected other social media users who spoke up in Anojan’s defence. Two Hindu accounts that reportedly voiced support for Anojan were suspended, raising further concerns among supporters about the online backlash against those challenging the campaign.
