A video of transgender persons lashing out at a Christian missionary for proselytizing in front of a temple at Bokkapuram in Nilgiris district, has gone viral on social media.
The Bokkapuram Maariamman Temple is visited by a large number of local devotees and other people from the neighbouring regions daily. It was reported that the Christian missionary resorted to proselytization activities and asking the devotees coming out of the temple to convert to Christianity.
The devotees some of whom were people from the transgender community who had been worshiping there saw the Christian missionary and chased him away from the premises.
A few transpersons rounded up and started cursing him for daring to enter a temple and proselytizing.
“What audacity you have to enter a temple for your missionary activities!”, one of the transpersons can be seen clapping and cursing the Christian missionary.
Another transperson recording the video can be heard saying “Go and do this in Church! What business you have in the temple?”, to the missionary who keeps praying. “Ask him which sect he is, Pentecostal or RC (Roman Catholic)”, the transperson says.
The transperson also goes on to say “Believing in Christ only put us in the middle of the streets!”
It is not clear when this incident happened but this video has been spreading like wildfire in social websites with many appreciating the act of the transgenders.
