Radical Leftist And Congress-AAP Supporter Prashant Bhushan Amplifies Pakistani Propaganda Against India: Shares Fake Lavrov Video, Deletes Post Later

Radical leftist and Congress-AAP supporter, Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan has shared a digitally manipulated video of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, amplifying a false narrative portraying India as merely a trading partner of Russia and questioning the country’s diplomatic standing.

In a post on X on November 3, Bhushan shared a video of Lavrov and wrote: “A tight slap by the Russian Foreign Minister on India. What kind of advice was Jaishankar giving to Russia?”

He later deleted the post.

The post came amid the circulation of a fabricated video falsely attributing a series of anti-India remarks to the Russian Foreign Minister. The video claims that Russia considers India nothing more than a trading partner and that New Delhi has no right to advise Moscow on its foreign policy.

The fabricated video attributes a series of statements to Lavrov, claiming that India is neither an ally nor a superpower whose advice Russia is obliged to follow.

The false statement begins with the line: “Let me make one thing absolutely clear. India is our trading partner, nothing more.”

It goes on to claim that Russia supplies oil to India in exchange for payment, but that this commercial relationship does not give India the right to interfere in Russia’s foreign policy or offer advice on issues involving Russia, Ukraine, the United States or other countries.

The manipulated clip further attributes to Lavrov the claim that India should restrict itself to trade and economic cooperation instead of commenting on Russia’s international relations.

However, these statements are entirely fabricated. The video has been digitally altered to make it appear as though Lavrov made remarks that he never actually made. The original video contains no such statement.

The fabricated clip is being circulated through Pakistani propaganda networks as part of an attempt to portray India-Russia relations as strained and undermine India’s diplomatic standing.

Bhushan’s post is particularly significant because he presented the manipulated clip as a genuine rebuke by Lavrov and used it to question External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

This is not the only fabricated video targeting India’s diplomatic leadership that has been flagged. D-Intent Data also identified another digitally altered video of Jaishankar, circulated with fabricated claims about an alleged exchange between him and the Russian Foreign Minister.

By sharing the Lavrov clip without identifying it as manipulated, Bhushan amplified a false narrative already being pushed by Pakistani propaganda accounts.
