
A functionary of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) was among two persons arrested by railway police in connection with the theft of a laptop at Tiruchirappalli Junction railway station, as reported in Vikatan.
According to police, a laptop belonging to Miphthin, a resident of Kanyakumari district, was reported stolen at the railway station. Following a complaint lodged with the Tiruchirappalli Railway Police, an investigation was launched.
During the inquiry, police identified the accused as Baranidharan of Ramji Nagar in Tiruchirappalli and Rohan Dev of K. Kallikudi. Both were apprehended and allegedly confessed to stealing the laptop from the complainant.
Police subsequently recovered the stolen laptop from the accused and arrested them. Officials stated that both individuals were already facing multiple criminal cases.
Police sources further said that Baranidharan is a Manikandam Union Executive Committee member of TVK.
The arrests have attracted attention as one of the accused is associated with the party led by actor-turned-politician Vijay.
