Thirukovilur: Traffic Hit As TVK Cadres Burst Firecrackers Without Permission During Birthday Celebration Of District Secretary Barani Balaji

Thirukovilur Traffic Hit As TVK Cadres Burst Firecrackers Without Permission During Birthday Celebration Of District Secretary

Traffic was disrupted in Thirukovilur after Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) functionaries allegedly gathered on a public road and burst firecrackers during celebrations held for the birthday of Kallakurichi district secretary Barani Balaji.

According to reports and videos circulated online, party workers assembled in large numbers on the roadway as part of the celebration, leading to traffic congestion and inconvenience for motorists passing through the area. The gathering reportedly caused heavy traffic snarls in Thirukovilur for a considerable period.

It is also alleged that the event was conducted without prior permission from authorities. A report by Sun News also stated that firecrackers were burst directly on the road during the celebration without obtaining official approval.

The visuals from the scene reportedly showed party functionaries occupying portions of the public road while fireworks were being set off, forcing vehicles to slow down and navigate through the congestion.

The incident has attracted attention because of the disruption caused to the public and the apparent use of a busy public road for a political celebration. The development has also sparked criticism on social media, with users pointing to TVK’s earlier political messaging about introducing an alternative and “clean” political culture in Tamil Nadu.

Critics argued that such road-blocking celebrations and public inconvenience resembled the same style of political culture that TVK and party leader Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay had previously criticised during their campaign speeches.
