In his latest speeches on different occassions, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi chief Thirumavalavan called Sanatan Dharma as worse than the menace of alcohol and that the ancient epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata remain the root cause of all violence in the world.
Addressing a gathering at a film launch, Thirumalavan said that ‘Sanatan politics’ is worse than alcohol consumption because alcohol only spoils those who drink but Sanathana spoils the lives of all citizens.
He started his speech by speaking about how Liquor Prohibition should become a National policy and not just a State policy. That was when he mentioned that ‘Sanatan politics’ is worse than alcohol consumption because that politics is held high by BJP and spread by RSS.
It is to be noted that this is not the first instance that Thirumavalavan speaks ill of Hinduism. In fact, he takes every chance he gets to speak negatively of the religion. Just a few days back, while speaking about the ‘Agni pot’ motif of the Vanniyars, he said that the Agni Pot concept comes from Mahabharata. He then went onto say that Ramayana and Mahabharata have been dominating us for so many years and still continue to do so. He also said that the two epics are the origin for all the violence around us.
Instances of Thirumavalavan bashing Hindu faith are innumerable. Few weeks back a few Sivanadiars staged a protest in Tiruppur condemning Thirumavalavan for slandering Hindus and Hindu religion. He has always tried to gather support by passing derogatory comments.
