Police in Chhattisgarh eliminate Naxal commander

The Naxals which is a violent and anarchist group hell-bent on overthrowing and dismantling India suffered another blow when one of its commanders who had a bounty worth Rs 3 lakh was killed in an encounter with security forces in the forest area in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Friday (March 11).

“The Naxal killed in the operation today is the deputy commander of Sandra LOS (local organisation squad). There was a Rs 3 lakh reward on his head,” said P Sundarraj, Inspector general, Bastar range, Chattisgarh police.

During the operation, one District Reserve Guard (DRG) sustained minor injuries and as per the latest report, his condition has been declared as stable.

“A joint operation was carried out by DRG and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Friday morning in the jungles under Naimed Police Station limit in Bijapur district,” Sundarraj said.

Just recently, Assam police had arrested Kanchan Da alias Arun Kumar Bhattacharya a die-hard Maoist anarchist who was wanted in several cases across India and carried a reward of 3 crores for his information which is one of the largest bounties.
