A 62-year-old madrasa teacher named Imbichikoya, a resident of Unnankallu in Kadakkal, Kollam, has turned himself in before the Kollam Sessions Court following the registration of two POCSO Act cases against him.
Police have collected evidence from the scene in connection with the sexual abuse of two minor students by a madrasa teacher at Kadakkal in Kollam district.
The accused was brought to the location as part of the investigation. According to police, the victims are children aged eight and nine.
Imbichi Koya was working as a teacher at a madrasa in the area. According to the investigation, he lured the children close to him by showing obscene videos on his mobile phone before subjecting them to sexual abuse.
Unable to bear the harassment, the children informed their families, who subsequently filed a complaint with Childline. Childline workers collected statements from the children and passed the information to the police.
Learning that the police were searching for him, the accused went into hiding and stayed in various locations, including Kozhikode. Following intensified police efforts, he surrendered before the Kollam court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
The Kadakkal police took him into custody the previous day and brought him to the crime scene to collect evidence.
Police suspect that more children may have been subjected to sexual abuse by the accused. A detailed investigation is underway, the Kadakkal police said.
