Hyderabad School Denies Class X Students Wearing Durga Mata Malas Permission to Attend Special Classes, Parents Protest

Tension erupted at Sainik School in Maruti Nagar, Champapet, Hyderabad, after the school management allegedly stopped Class X students wearing Durga Mata malas from attending special classes, triggering protests by parents, as reported in Siasat Daily.

According to the parents, several students had been wearing the Durga Mata mala as part of their religious observance during the Sharad Navratri festival. When they arrived at school to attend their regular special classes, the management allegedly instructed them to remove the malas and told them to stay outside if they refused.

As a result, the students were allegedly prevented from attending the classes.

The incident angered parents, who staged a dharna outside the school, accusing the management of hurting the religious sentiments of the students and denying them access to important academic sessions ahead of their Class X examinations. They expressed concern that missing these classes could affect the students’ academic preparation and future.

BJP leaders visited the school and joined the protest, demanding that the management allow the students to attend special classes without being forced to remove their Durga Mata malas. The situation escalated, prompting senior police officials to reach the spot and intervene.

Meanwhile, the school management suspended Telugu teacher Pushpalatha in connection with the incident. A complaint was also lodged with the police, seeking action against those responsible for allegedly preventing the students from attending the special classes.
