Anitha Radhakrishnan has sparked controversy after making remarks against voters in the Kolathur constituency following M. K. Stalin’s electoral defeat there in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
Speaking at a public event, Anitha Radhakrishnan said the DMK had passed a resolution urging Stalin to contest the upcoming Trichy East by-election, while also praising the development work allegedly carried out in Kolathur under his leadership.
“In the Trichy election, we have today morning passed a resolution that our Thalapathy must contest. Do you know what our own constituency was like? He had transformed it to look just like Singapore. But those worthless voters…can you even bear to think of them?” he said.
The sheer arrogance of Former DMK Minister Thiru.@ARROffice !
They have absolutely no respect for people’s mandate. Glorifying voters when they win and outright abusing them when they are rejected is their usual norm.
This is nothing new for them. After losing the 2001… pic.twitter.com/yBiqWzlVdZ

The remarks quickly triggered criticism from political opponents and social media users, with clips of the speech widely circulating online.
According to reports, Anitha Radhakrishnan claimed that Stalin had significantly transformed Kolathur through infrastructure development, road works and civic improvements, but alleged that voters still chose not to support the DMK despite those efforts.
During the speech, the DMK MLA also reportedly challenged members of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam to contest against the DMK in Tiruchendur, asserting confidence that the ruling party alliance would prevail.
The controversy emerged in the backdrop of the Trichy East Assembly by-election, which became necessary after Chief Minister Joseph Vijay contested and won from two constituencies before opting to retain Perambur, thereby vacating Trichy East.
