Hindu Munnani Condemns Tirupur Blast, Calls For High-Level Probe

Hindu Munnani Condemns Tirupur Blast, Calls For High-Level Probe

The Hindu Munnani has strongly condemned the bomb blast that occurred in Tirupur’s Pandian Nagar, urging the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate action and launch a high-level investigation into the incident. The explosion, which took place in the afternoon, resulted in the tragic deaths of three people, including two children, and caused significant damage to surrounding homes.

The house owner, Karthik, and his brother-in-law, V Saravanakumar, who ran the unauthorized firecracker unit, were detained. Among the deceased were Kumar (39) from Erode district and baby A Alia Shirin, while an unidentified woman is suspected to be Kumar’s wife.

The blast happened at a place where ‘firecrackers’ were being illegally made for ‘temple festivals’.

The explosion occurred in Karthik’s two-story home, which housed knitwear workers on the first floor. Saravanakumar’s expired license for his firecracker unit had not been renewed, but he continued production illegally, using Karthik’s house.

The explosion caused several houses in the densely populated industrial area to collapse, leaving many residents critically injured. Large unexploded bombs were discovered at the scene, raising serious concerns about the presence of dangerous explosives in a residential area.

Forensic experts found explosives at the site, while residents blamed authorities for failing to detect the illegal operation.

AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

In a statement, Hindu Munnani’s state president, Kadeswara Subramaniam, questioned how such large quantities of explosives were brought into the heart of the city without detection. He expressed concern over the apparent failure of the police and intelligence services to prevent such a catastrophe, criticizing the Tamil Nadu government’s focus on ideological conflicts rather than public safety.

“This incident highlights the negligence of the state’s intelligence and security apparatus. Instead of focusing on internal security, the government is using its resources for political vendettas, disregarding the safety and welfare of its citizens,Subramaniam said.

Hindu Munnani has called on the Tamil Nadu government to revamp the police and intelligence agencies and allow them to function independently. The organization also urged the government to establish a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the background of the incident thoroughly.

In addition to demanding a comprehensive probe, Hindu Munnani has called for compensation for the blast victims. The group has requested a relief fund of ₹50 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and ₹5 lakh for those injured in the blast. They further demanded that the government rebuild homes for those who were displaced by the explosion.

The incident has left the city of Tirupur in shock, with many questioning how explosives could be stockpiled in such a populated area. Hindu Munnani’s call for a thorough investigation aims to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

After Haryana Poll Win, Amit Shah Hits Out At Rahul Gandhi For Tarnishing India’s Image Abroad

After Haryana Poll Win, Amit Shah Hits Out At Rahul Gandhi For Tarnishing India's Image Abroad

After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a historic win in the Haryana Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of tarnishing India’s image abroad for political gain while stating that Haryana voters have rejected such divisive tactics. “Haryana, the land of farmers and soldiers, has taught a lesson to those who go abroad and insult the country for vote bank. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Haryana for allowing BJP to serve the state for the third consecutive time,” he said.

Shah also said that the people of Veer Bhoomi Haryana have entirely rejected the negative and divisive politics of Rahul Gandhi and his Congress party, which divides people based on caste and religion, and have chosen the 10-year track record of development and welfare of BJP. He attributed the BJP’s victory to the ‘Politics of Performance’ introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a post in Hindi on X, Amit Shah said: “Whether it is the election of PM Modi for the third consecutive time at the Centre or the repeated formation of the BJP government in Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and other states, this shows that the public has unshakable faith in the new era of Politics of Performance that the BJP led by PM Modi has started in Indian politics.”

He further said: “First in the Lok Sabha elections and now in Haryana, the people have completely rejected the Congress which made false and empty promises to get votes and are standing like a rock with the BJP which is delivering on the ground.” Addressing the people of Haryana, Shah remarked: “The BJP government at the Centre and in the state under the leadership of PM Modi will fulfil all your aspirations and hopes. Hearty congratulations to all the workers of the party. Salute to the people of Veerbhoomi Haryana. This massive victory of the BJP in Haryana is a victory of the unwavering faith of farmers, the poor, the backward, the soldiers and the youth in the BJP government led by Prime Minister Modi.” BJP President JP Nadda echoed Shah’s sentiments, describing the win as a testament to public faith in PM Modi’s “public welfare, development, and good governance”.

“This consistent victory of the BJP in the Haryana Assembly elections is a reflection of the people’s unwavering faith in the welfare policies implemented by the double-engine government led by the illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he posted on X. He added: “This mandate shows that the people of Haryana have completely rejected the divisive and appeasement politics of the Congress. For the first time in the state, a political party has set a new record by winning power for the third consecutive time. This hat-trick of victory is the people’s overwhelming support for PM Modi’s welfare, development and good governance. I congratulate the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, State President Mohan Lal Badoli and express my gratitude to the public.”

Reacting to the election results of Jammu and Kashmir, Nadda said: “We accept the mandate received in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Violent incidents have been curbed in Jammu and Kashmir since the abolition of Article 370. There was a time when the voting percentage was very low, but the huge number of voters in this election reflects the unprecedented enthusiasm of the people in the festival of democracy. The BJP is committed to the all-round development and public welfare of Jammu and Kashmir. We will continue to raise every issue of development and public interest. Congratulations to all the workers of BJP and thanks to the public.”

UN Officials Urge Negotiations To Restore Stability Along Lebanon-Israel Border

Ongoing Hostilities Are To Nobody’s Benefit, Asserts India After Israeli Airstrikes On Iran

The escalation of violence and destruction along the Lebanon-Israel border will neither solve the core issues nor bring security to any relevant parties in the long run, United Nations officials said on Tuesday. It has been one year “since near-daily exchanges of fire commenced across the Blue Line,” in which “far too many lives have been lost, uprooted, and devastated, while civilians on both sides of the Blue Line are left wanting for security and stability,” Chief of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Aroldo Lazaro Saenz and UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert said in a joint statement.

“Every missile or rocket launched, bomb dropped, and ground raid conducted pulls the parties further away from the vision outlined in UN Resolution 1701 (2006), as well as from the conditions necessary for the enduring security of civilians on both sides of the Blue Line,” they said on the Lebanon-Israel border conflict.

“A negotiated solution is the only pathway to restore the security and stability that civilians on both sides so desperately want and deserve. The time to act accordingly is now,” they added.

UNIFIL was originally created by the UN Security Council in March 1978 to confirm the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, restore international peace and security and assist the Lebanese government in restoring its effective authority in the area, Xinhua news agency reported.

After the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel, UNIFIL’s mandate was expanded to monitor the cessation of hostilities and to accompany the deployment of Lebanese armed forces throughout southern Lebanon as Israel withdraws its troops. According to UNIFIL, the force has around 10,147 peacekeepers coming from 49 troop-contributing countries. Since September 23, Israel has launched an intensive air campaign on Lebanon, dubbed “Arrows of the North,” marking a significant escalation with Hezbollah. The cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel, which began on October 8, 2023, have raised concerns of a wider conflict amid the ongoing Hamas-Israel war in Gaza.

PM Modi Compliments NC For Its Victory In J&K Polls

PM Modi Compliments NC For Its Victory In J&K Polls

Rising above party politics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the lead on Tuesday in complimenting the National Congress (NC) for its victory in the J&K Legislative Assembly polls.

PM Modi said on his widely followed X-post page immediately after the ECI declared all the results for the 90 Assembly seats, “I would like to compliment JKNC for their commendable performance in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.” PM Modi said he was proud of the BJP performance in the J&K polls.

I am proud of the BJP’s performance in Jammu and Kashmir. I thank all those who have voted for our Party and placed their trust in us. I assure the people that we will keep working for the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir. I also appreciate the industrious efforts of our Karyakartas,” PM Modi said in another post.

PM Modi expressed satisfaction at restoring complete democracy in J&K after Article 370 was abrogated by the country’s Parliament on August 5, 2019. “These elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been very special. They were held for the first time after the removal of Articles 370 and 35(A) and witnessed a high turnout, thus showing the people’s belief in democracy. People Of Haryana Saw Through Congress Lies, Says BRS Leader KTR

People Of Haryana Saw Through Congress Lies, Says BRS Leader KTR

People in Haryana saw through the lies and propaganda of the Congress party after it could hoodwink people of Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana, said Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao. “Congress party could hoodwink people of Karnataka (5 guarantees), Himachal (10 guarantees) and Telangana (6 guarantees) but people of Haryana could see through the lies and propaganda,” he posted on ‘X’ while reacting to the Assembly election results in Haryana, where the BJP retained power for a third consecutive term, despite the exit polls predicting a victory for Congress.

“Congress better understand that in a connected world, just promising but not delivering will be disastrous,” he said.

“Few things evident from the election results today and will hopefully hold true even after Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Delhi polls. Both National Parties BJP and Congress are going to be far from the magic figure on their own in 2029,” wrote KTR. He believes that strong regional parties will hold the key to the formation of the next government at the Centre. “Strong regional parties will hold the key to the formation of next Union Govt and probably for at least another decade or so,” reads the post.

Senior BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao said the Haryana polls results show that the people of Haryana did not believe in the jugglery of Congress guarantees. “The people of Haryana have closely observed the fraud committed by the Congress in Telangana and Karnataka. The effect was evident in the election results,” he said.

Harish Rao said after seeing these results, the Revanth Reddy government in Telangana should refrain from revenge politics and diversion politics and implement the six guarantees and 420 promises with sincerity. “BJP is not trusted in Kashmir, Congress is not trusted in Haryana. It is clear that there is an aversion of the people towards the two national parties,” he said.

Exploitation Of Sabarimala Pilgrims Can’t Be Permitted: Kerala HC

Exploitation Of Sabarimala Pilgrims Can't Be Permitted: Kerala HC

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday spoke tough, directing the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to take action against those found illegally charging Lord Ayappa devotees visiting Sabarimala temple for the ‘pottukuthal’ (applying Vibhuthi, Sindoor, or Chandanam) ritual.

TDB is the body under the State Minister of Devaswom which manages the administration of the state’s premier temple where a large number of pilgrims come from the various South Indian states. The fresh two-month old season begins in the third week of November and hence this directive is expected to be a huge relief for the pilgrims. “Exploitation of pilgrims who are on pilgrimage to Sabarimala to worship Lord Ayyappa cannot be permitted … No devotee or Sabarimala pilgrim can be exploited by any person based on any usage like the one stated in the order (pottukuthal),” said the court.

“It is for the TDB to take necessary steps to ensure no illegal activity by any person is permitted inside the temple premises of either Erumeli temple or any of the temples under its management during Maasa Pooja and Mandala Magaram Velak,” the court ruled. The court was hearing a petition challenging a tender notification issued by the TDB which allowed recognised private entities to collect Rs 10 per person at Erumeli — the main base camp for pilgrims — for pottukuthal. The petitioners, all devotees of Lord Ayyappa, had argued that the tender notification permitting charges for ‘pottukuthal’ violated their constitutional right to religious freedom.

They further stated that this ritual has traditionally been performed freely by pilgrims, although they also had the option of giving free donations through hundis (cash collection boxes) kept at certain points. However, the TDB following the queries by the court said that it had acted only to prevent unauthorised persons from collecting exorbitant charges from pilgrims for pottukuthal. But with the court taking a strong position, the TDB has now stated that pottukuthal will be provided free of cost and added that action would be taken if anyone collects a fee for this.

Incidentally, this is an age-old practice which is followed as a matter of custom by Sabarimala pilgrims and the TDB informed the court that three mirrors have been installed at key places and Vibhuthi, Sindoor, or Chandanam have been placed to help the pilgrims do the pottukuthal themselves. The rule of this famed Hindu temple, dedicated to Lord Ayappa, bars women who have attained puberty but have not reached menopause from entering it. Sabarimala temple, situated on the mountain ranges of the Western Ghats, at an altitude of 914 meters above sea level, four kilometres uphill from Pamba in Pathanamthitta district in Central Kerala, has become one of the most famous Hindu pilgrim centres in India and has earned itself the tag as the Mecca for Hindus.

The temple, on the top of the hill, is accessible only by foot from Pamba. Even though the temple is now open throughout the year, the peak pilgrimage season begins on the first day of the Malayalam month in November and closes on the first day of the Malayalam month in January.

PT Usha Slams Vinesh Phogat For Criticising IOA Following Wrestler’s Win In Elections, Says ‘Her Team Is Accountable’

PT Usha Slams Vinesh Phogat For Criticising IOA

IOA chief PT Usha slammed former wrestler Vinesh Phogat for blaming the association for her disqualification from the Paris Olympics, saying, “The wrestler’s team is accountable, not the IOA”.

Phogat, who joined politics soon after her retirement following her Olympics disqualification, won her debut political bout, getting elected from Julana seat in the Haryana Assembly elections on Tuesday.

She secured a total of 65,080 votes to defeat her BJP rival, professional pilot Yogesh Bairagi. Following the news of Vinesh Phogat winning, PT Usha revealed her thoughts on the wrestler’s criticism of IOA for their role in her disqualification at the Paris Olympics.

“She was a sportsperson. She should carry the qualities of a sports man. I am not trying to say politicians are bad, but she went to the Paris Olympics for sports, and we all wanted medals from her. After meeting her, we went to the World Wrestling Federation president to protest. They said, ‘rules are rules, ‘ and after that, everything went into chaos.”, the former track and field athlete said.

“For Vinesh Phogat we had sent her all the people she had requested, four or five people accompanied her. For us, it’s new, only 100 gms, but for them it is not new. This had happened earlier as well, so she should know what to do and how to tackle it. Her team knows everything but it still happened so it is not our or our sport science doctor’s fault, it is her and her team’s fault but still, she criticises us,” PT Usha told IANS.

Phogat was disqualified from the 50kg category women’s freestyle final for being 100 gm overweight in the second weigh-in on the morning of the summit clash. However, she challenged the verdict in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but nothing turned out in her favour. Meanwhile, she announced her retirement from the sport after being disqualified for the final, ending her hopes of becoming the first woman Indian wrestler to win silver or gold in the Olympics.
