DMK Member “Melting Point” Saravanan Exposes His Lack Of Understanding Of GST; Gets Schooled By TN BJP Leader SG Suryah

In a recent development, the official spokesperson of DMK and joint secretary of the media wing of the part, Saravanan Annadurai, shared on his X handle that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement claiming a 192% increase in state finance sharing is solely attributed to inflation. He also reiterated the narrative that the BJP is allegedly exploiting Tamil Nadu’s tax revenue, echoing the common sentiment that the central government is encroaching on state rights.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement news card shared by News18Tamilnadu stated, “Tax Distribution to Tamilnadu: ₹94,977 crore from 2004 to 2014 and ₹2,77,444 crore from 2014 to 2024.

Financial assistance to Tamil Nadu: This is 192% more. 57,924.42 crore from 2004 to 2014 to 2,30,893 crore from 2014 to 2023, an increase of 300% in nine years”.

In response to that, Saravanan wrote, “This is because of inflation! There was no GST from 2004 to 2014; the state governments were directly collecting the tax revenue. Now the Union government is giving it. The sun rises in the east from 2014-2024. BJP’s record is as absurd as it gets. #BJPLootingOurTax”

In response, SG Suryah, the State Secretary of Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party, accused Saravanan of spreading lies, emphasizing the direct flow of Excise Duty and Service Tax to the Central Government even before the GST regime.

Surya wrote, “1 Tweet, 100 Lies Mr. @saravofcl? What’s this? SGST directly goes to State Govts in the GST regime. Before 2014, Excise Duty & Service Tax from Tamil Nadu directly went to the TN Treasury? Is it a joke? It directly went to the Central Govt. even before the GST regime.”

Netizens who read the post and discerned the bias in Saravanan’s statement criticized and ridiculed him for his lack of knowledge.

A netizen remarked, “50% of GST goes to state directly. Even some share of central GST component is shared with state.  Do you comprehend vandu murugan?”

Another netizen unveiled his exposed his contradictory statement and remarked “Does a 10 percent rise in inflation mean a 194 percent rise? So admit that today’s NDA government has given more money than the previous UPA government”

Another netizen shed light on the unethical conduct of state government commercial tax officials during the 1980s. They engaged in deceptive practices, cheating both the government and the public by collecting taxes and misappropriating funds. The netizen described a situation where officials would accept a bribe of ₹1000 and instruct individuals to pay only a fraction, such as ₹1000, out of a larger tax amount, like ₹10,000.

Another netizen ridiculed him by saying, “What is the relationship between monetary inflation and fiscal allocation? Oh my gosh .. just thinking that he will go and make this stupid argument on any TV today  .. oh my god. Then you say inflation is good, Melting”

A netizen questioned, “Okay then, tell me how much tax has come in SGST. The central government discloses CGST, SGST – How much money is directly going to the state government? SGST – DMK, who conceals the direct arrival.”

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) in general has brought several benefits to state governments in India. One primary advantage is the streamlining of the taxation system, replacing the complex and cascading tax structure that existed before. GST has created a unified market by subsuming various indirect taxes, promoting ease of doing business and facilitating seamless interstate trade. Additionally, it has enhanced tax compliance through a robust IT infrastructure, reducing tax evasion. The revenue-sharing mechanism between the central and state governments ensures a stable source of income for states, fostering financial autonomy. Overall, GST has led to increased transparency, efficiency, and revenue for state governments, contributing to the economic development of the country. However, some state governments and political parties exploit GST to their advantage by constructing false narratives.

“Avan Appan Vandhalum, Legiyam Seller, You Will Remove Your Dhoti & Run Away”: ADMK Leader Udhayakumar Goes On A Rant Against BJP TN Head Annamalai And Calls Latter’s Father In Singular

In a recent press conference with journalists in Madurai, RB Udhayakumar, former Tamil Nadu Revenue minister and AIADMK member confirmed the finalization of the AIADMK alliance. He explicitly stated that there would be no collaboration with the BJP in either parliamentary or assembly elections.

Responding to a question posed by reporters regarding Amit Shah’s statement about open alliance doors, Udhayakumar asserted that the AIADMK alliance has been firmly established. He emphasized that there will be no collaboration with the BJP in both parliamentary and assembly elections. And further stated despite Annamalai’s criticism referring to Annadurai and Jeyalalitha, Udhayakumar expressed the impossibility of aligning with them without compromising the party’s dignity.

Criticizing Annamalai’s lack of political experience and electoral success, he stressed that maturity comes through winning elections. Udhayakumar dismissed Annamalai’s influence, declaring that neither Annamalai nor his father could dismantle the AIADMK.
He stated, “Not only Annamalai, even if his dad comes cannot do anything to destroy Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. We brought the party to this state by giving our blood and life. Even if his dad comes, Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cannot be destroyed”.

Also he issued a caution on behalf of the party’s two crore volunteers, asserting the invincibility of the AIADMK.
He added, “I’m not saying this as a warning to Annamalai, this is a warning on behalf of 2 crore Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadres. Just showing this bogeyman (poochandi), telling ayya and all, what is this? Where were you? Where did you come from? where did you go? What is your history? You talk as if you are the only one who was born to save this country. Everything has a limit brother. So talk carefully, talk calmly. If we start talking, you would throw your veshti and run. We are bound by the party and our general secretary and we are silent now. Even Annamalai cannot answer our party’s last cadre… Listen to his speech, couldn’t tolerate it, it is like a person selling lehyam (electuary medicine) Sir, this has happened, sir, this has passed, sir, eat this lehyam, sir, if your fever is not cured in the morning, come in the evening, sir, if it is not cured in the evening, then come in the morning, sir. Come, sir, come, sir, come. Buy immediately or the lehiyam will run out, if you do not use this opportunity, it will run out. If you don’t take advantage of this, the opportunity will slip away. In this case, if the lehiyam is not sold, it cannot be sold at all. This lehiyam is created for you sir, Hence sir you don’t need to trust anyone, I say, sir, if you die you don’t need to come and see me, if you are alive come and see me. He is speaking like this. He wakes up in the morning and speaks whatever comes to his mouth. You also telecast them and even ask him questions on that.”

In a concluding caution, Udhayakumar advised Prime Minister Modi to exercise caution regarding Annamalai’s actions. Additionally, his request for a post-election press meet with reporters subtly hinted still there is a possibility of alliance discussions. He added, “The decision taken by our General Secretary was the final decision taken. So, the leaders who know the strength of the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the influence of the people are inviting and that is why the leaders in Delhi are inviting us. But this fool knows nothing, how can a person who knows nothing come and talk? All this is to be severely condemned, after all, he thinks he is the one who came to protect Tamil Nadu. First, after this election, I will give you another press meet and say. Nothing, zero, if you have hired fifty people on social media, can you become a leader? You have not even won a councillor election, and you want to become the prime minister? It is good for Modi to stay cautious of Annamalai.”

Against the backdrop of a broken BJP and AIADMK alliance, with the election date yet to be announced, the AIADMK is actively seeking a robust partner for the upcoming elections. In pursuit of this goal, they are striving to strengthen their dominance within the alliance in Tamil Nadu; however, success in these endeavors has not yet been realized.

Puthiya Thalaimurai’s Niranjan Kumar Parrots DMK Min PTR’s Misinformation On PM Modi

Yet again, Puthiya Thalaimurai’s “journalist” Niranjan Kumar has the spotlight on him for peddling misinformation – one more time.

This time he trains his guns on none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. In a post on his X handle amidst the ongoing ruckus being created by the I.N.D.I.Alliance partners concerning the central government “looting tax revenue” from states, he wrote quoting DMK Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan at Delhi Jantar Mantar protest, “There was a Chief Minister in India. He said that the central government is severely deceiving them and talked about the federal philosophy from side to side. He said that they are taking the tax money of our state and diverting it to some states: He is none other than the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, who is now the Prime Minister.”

However, his propaganda was soon busted. It is to be noted that after PM Narendra Modi assumed the PM post, he increased the allocation of funds to states. from 32% to 42%. Further, he reduced the weightage of the population in the tax distribution criteria from 27.5% to 15%.

Additionally, the funds available to states in the UPA regime (2004-14) was ₹30 lakh crore but from 2014-2023, this fund has increased to over ₹100 lakh crores.

Also, the tax sharing and assistance received by Tamil Nadu excluding NH, Ports, Railways, Railways, other Infra in the UPA regime (2004-14) was ₹1,52,921 crores. In the Modi regime (2014-23), it has increased to ₹5,08,337 crores.

Tamil Nadu has also received ₹10.76 lakh crores of funds, projects, and grants in the past 9 years under the Modi government.

“Journalists” such as Niranjan Kumar parrot the lines of their DMK masters without cross-referencing or fact-checking their claims. This is how false propaganda is furthered by the ruling DMK to hoodwink the public. However, the likes of Niranjan do not realise that in the era of social media and high-speed internet, such lies and false propaganda can be busted in minutes.

“It Was A Crisis Situation When We Formed The Govt”, States White Paper On Indian Economy Laid In LS By Union Fin Min Nirmala Sitharaman

As promised, the Modi government has released a comprehensive white paper shedding light on the challenging economic landscape it inherited in 2014 and the subsequent efforts to steer the nation towards stability and growth. The document underscores the fragile state of the economy, mismanagement of public finances, and widespread corruption prevailing at the beginning of the government’s term.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid on the table a copy of the “White Paper On The Indian Economy” in Lok Sabha on 8 February 2024. Presented on the concluding day of the extended budget session, the White Paper offers a comprehensive comparison of the economy during the 10-year tenure of the UPA government with that of the 10-year rule under the NDA. The release of the white paper coincided with the final session of the current Lok Sabha, marking the conclusion before the anticipated general elections scheduled for April-May this year.

In its 59-page length, the white paper meticulously outlines the economic conditions, illustrating the contrasting phases between the time when the UPA took charge in 2004, inheriting a robust economy, and the state of the Indian economy in 2014, when the Narendra Modi-led government succeeded the Manmohan Singh administration. The document specifically emphasizes divergent trends in the stock market and Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) inflows throughout these distinct periods.

The white paper begins with an overview which states, “In 2014 when we formed the government, the economy was in a fragile state; public finances were in bad shape; there was economic mismanagement and financial indiscipline, and there was widespread corruption. It was a crisis situation. The responsibility to mend the economy step by step and to put the governance systems in order was enormous.”

The white paper states that the government refrained from casting a negative narrative during the initial crisis, emphasising the government’s commitment to instill hope, attract investments, and implement crucial reforms for the nation’s benefit. The focus on ‘nation-first’ and building confidence, both domestically and globally, took precedence over scoring political points, according to the document.

Outlined in the objectives of the white paper are four key points. Firstly, it aims to inform Members of Parliament and the public about the severe governance, economic, and fiscal crises inherited in 2014. Secondly, it details the policies and measures implemented by the government to restore economic health and foster growth. Thirdly, it seeks to initiate an informed debate on prioritizing national interest and fiscal responsibility over political expediency. Lastly, it emphasizes a commitment to national development with renewed inspiration and resolution.

In Part 1 of the white paper, the macroeconomic situation during the UPA government is discussed, highlighting issues such as double-digit inflation, ailing banking sectors, and high policy uncertainty. The mismanagement and short-sighted handling of public finances during the fiscal years 2004-2014 are also explored.

Part 2 delves into the current status of various corruption scandals during the UPA government, providing insights into the economic challenges inherited by the present government.

Part 3 narrates the journey of turning the economy around, rebuilding the nation’s image, and reigniting hopes for a better future. The document concludes with an assertion that the nation is now marching ahead with self-confidence and belief in its potential for sustained economic growth.

OP Jindal Global Univ Hosts Talk Describing Ram Mandir As A Farcical Project Of Brahminical Hindutva Fascism

On 7 February 2024, a gathering arranged by the Revolutionary Students League at OP Jindal Global University in Haryana has stirred significant controversy. Despite pre-event concerns, participants were exposed to anti-Hindu discourse, contentious readings, and disturbing calls for the destruction of temples. Titled “Ram Mandir: A Farcical Project of Brahmanical Hindutva Fascism,” the event purported to be a public discussion. Organisers argued that the January 22nd ceremony, marking the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla at the Ayodhya grand mandir, revealed what they deemed as the inherent violence and anti-people nature of the Brahmanical Hindutva fascist state. They contended that the Ram Mandir concept has become synonymous with hate crimes against Muslims and Dalits in India, coupled with a broader trend of saffronisation in educational institutions. The Revolutionary Students League, formerly known as Sangharsh, orchestrated the event, urging attendees to engage with the controversial “Fight Brahmanical Hindutva Fascism” by Varavara Rao, a recommended reading found in the event brochure.

The content and communication of the event have sparked a heated debate within academic and social circles, drawing criticism for its inflammatory language and advocacy for temple destruction. As reactions continue to flood in, the university administration is under increasing pressure to address the repercussions of this contentious gathering.

The text begins with, “The deaths of Mohammad Akhlaq, Prof. M M Kalburgi, and Yakub Memon have come to symbolise, in many ways, the prevailing situation in the country under the rule of the BJP led by Modi. Akhlaq was brutally attacked at his Dadri residence in September by a mob, incited, mobilised, and led by a group of Sanghi goons after maliciously spreading rumors of beef consumption.” It goes on to state, “Prof. Kalburgi was fatally shot by unidentified Hindutva-fascist assailants due to his unwavering opposition to their agendas in Karnataka. Memon was executed this July in Nagpur jail after being convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts in a miscarriage of justice. According to the self-appointed enforcers of the ‘Hindu Rashtra,’ choosing one’s food is deemed anti-national, expressing dissent is deemed anti-national, and even being related to a Muslim accused of so-called anti-national activities is considered anti-national – ‘crimes’ punishable by death, as per the Manuvadi Hindutva-fascists.”

The article further said, “Whether the execution is carried out judicially by the state or by any of the numerous murderous gangs raised by the hydra-headed RSS, it makes little difference to the person at the receiving end. These killings (and those of Govind Phansade and Narendra Dabholkar earlier) are but a few of the more talked-about incidents in what has become a continuous barrage of attacks carried out in many forms by the Hindutva-fascists across the country”.

Moreover, it stated, “Particularly since the BJP government came to power, such attacks are taking place almost on a daily basis. Though termed by some as ‘intolerance’, this is part of an all-round attack by the Brahmanical Hindu fascist forces against the people, affecting all spheres of their lives. “These attacks are simultaneously ideological, political, social, religious, ethnic, economic, cultural, juridical, and environmental carried out with violent and non-violent, legal and illegal, constitutional and extra-constitutional means.

According to the author, the targets of Hindutva forces encompass all forms of dissent and non-compliance, particularly directed at organisations and individuals engaged in revolutionary, democratic, secular, and patriotic pursuits. This includes Muslims and Christians, Dalits and Adivasis, women and individuals of other oppressed genders, as well as oppressed nationalities and even segments of the parliamentary opposition. The conclusion emphasises, “In fact, anyone who refuses to fall in line with their Hindutva agenda or opposes their fascist diktats is a potential target. Indeed, at a time like this when the assault of the Hindutva fascists is becoming increasingly conspicuous in all spheres of society and the state, one cannot be faulted for wondering if a vast section of our people are already made to live in the shadows of a veritable ‘Hindu Rashtra’.

Not The First Time For OP Jindal Global University

OP Jindal Global University in Haryana has a history of entanglement in controversies, with past instances of organising events that are deemed anti-national and anti-Hindu. In a recent incident, the Haryana Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Professor Sameena Dalwai, alleging harassment of students and privacy violations. The controversy revolves around accusations of Dalwai displaying students’ profiles from a dating app in a classroom setting. In September, it was reported that Dalwai allegedly accessed a student’s Bumble dating app account during a class session, projecting it onto a Smart TV for all students to see. Video footage and screenshots shared on social media depicted the professor discussing the dating account in detail, purportedly belonging to one of the students. When students refused to reveal their profiles, Dalwai allegedly encouraged them to create fake identities, even suggesting the use of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s image.

Furthermore, on 1 November, the university hosted a lecture titled ‘The History and Politics of the Palestinian Present’ by Professor Achin Vanaik, a retired professor of International Relations and former Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Delhi. Controversy surrounded the event as video clips from the lecture surfaced, revealing alleged antisemitic and anti-Hindu remarks made by Vanaik. Criticisms were also directed at Vanaik for criticising the Modi government’s stance on the conflict in Palestine.

Similarly, on 8 February 2023, professors and students at JGU organised a screening of the BBC’s two-part documentary “India: The Modi Question,” which has been banned in India. The documentary has faced criticism for being perceived as biased against India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the BBC’s perspective being evident.

In 2021, during an online lecture, Professor Shruti Pandey, an Associate Professor at Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), made remarks stating, “My professor Upendra Baxi, who taught in the law school, used to say that every Hindu practices untouchability… Initially, when he said that, I didn’t think so… But it is true, guys. Go back and look at yourself and how you practice untouchability in quiet, invisible ways that we don’t even understand.” She continued to assert that every Hindu practices untouchability and alleged that Hinduism exists due to untouchability. While maintaining her position on untouchability within Hinduism, she publicly praised Islam and its acceptance of widow remarriage, stating, “We know that this is definitely something where Hinduism has a special rule because widow remarriage is much more acceptable in Islam. And sorry for those of you who believe that Islam is an inferior religion because this is one of the ways in which it shows that it is not.” In another incident, Professor Arijeet Ghosh, an Assistant Professor at JGLS, expressed separatist views in an online lecture in 2021, stating, “Yes, it has never happened, and that is why Kashmir always remains a contentious issue… And if you want my opinion, I call Jammu and Kashmir India-occupied-Kashmir, although India tries to say it is Indian territory and Indian-administered-Kashmir.” He further commented on the emotive aspect of the Kashmir issue, citing a quote from Sunny Deol.

On 27 February 2020, left-liberal ideologues at JGU organised a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) at the flagpole area, displaying derogatory posters with statements like “mere room me suttee hai, Modi-Shah kutte hain,” giving it an anti-BJP, anti-RSS spin.

During the nationwide mourning after the attacks of 14 February 2019, where 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives in Pulwama, students at JGU called for a candlelight march. Notably, on 18 February 2019, a candlelight vigil was held at JGU’s flagpole to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Pulwama attacks.

“The Organisation My Husband Believed In Stood With Us”, Lisha Ranjith, Widow Of Slain Swayamsewak & BJP Member Ranjith Sreenivasan Speaks Out

In a heartfelt revelation, Advocate Lisha Ranjjith, the widow of the late Ranjith Srinivasan, has expressed gratitude for the unwavering support her family has received from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following her husband’s tragic murder.

As reported in Kerala Kaumudi, Lisha Ranjjith highlighted the pivotal role played by the organisation her husband was associated with, stating, “RSS is a courage for us. If anything happens to me tomorrow, they are sure to look after my children.”

Recounting the difficulties faced after her husband’s demise, Lisha shared that the RSS and BJP stood by them, providing support in various aspects of their lives. She emphasised that while relatives and neighbors remained distant during their challenging times, the organisation her husband believed in stood firmly with her and the children.

Lisha nostalgically reflected on the family’s once-grand celebrations of festivals like Onam and Vishu, which came to a halt with the untimely death of her husband. Despite the loss, she expressed appreciation for the RSS and BJP members who continued to visit and celebrate festive occasions with the family, ensuring that the void left by her husband’s absence was filled with warmth and companionship.

She said, “The organisation my husband believed in stood with us. We usually celebrated Onam and Vishu in a grand manner. We used to keep vishukani and used to make two payasams. With his demise, all our celebrations ended. He used to wake up his children on the Vishu day to show the vishukani and used to be in the front for everything. We made kanji and chammanthi on the first Vishu that came after his death. All the pracharaks came home that day and had food with us. There are some brothers like that. They visit us on all festive days. They had not allowed us to worry. People in the organisation and BJP used to buy sweets for my children. None of our relatives and neighbours had asked us whether we bought Onakodi for the children. They came with Onakodi for mother and children and leaves after a long time. They never used to talk about the case, they never reminded us about that. They crack jokes with the children.”

“The organisation gave us courage. No matter what happens to me tomorrow, they will not abandon my children,” declared Lisha, emphasising the enduring support provided by the RSS and BJP during challenging times.

She further revealed the profound impact the organization had on her family, recounting instances where members not only assisted with practical matters but also provided emotional sustenance. From celebrating her daughter’s achievements to arranging events like arangettam in the temple, the organisation proved to be a constant source of support for the grieving family.

Lisha also acknowledged the role of the police, who had been a constant presence in their lives for almost two years following the tragic incident. She spoke of their assistance in caring for her mother and their genuine concern for the family’s well-being.

In closing, Lisha Ranjjith expressed her commitment to holding her family together, expressing gratitude for the support that has allowed them to navigate the challenging aftermath of her husband’s murder. The narrative underscores the importance of community and organizational support in times of adversity, emphasising the enduring impact of the RSS and BJP in the lives of those affected by tragedy.

Uttarakhand UCC Law: Dravidianist Journo And All-In-All Commentator Sumanth Peddle Half-Baked Info, While Dravidianists Simp Over Wide Prevalence Of Cousin Marriage In TN

Following the passage of the UCC Bill in the Uttarakhand Assembly, pro-Congress journalists and Dravidianists went into hyperbole with their reactions.

Journalist Arvind Gunasekar shared a picture of Schedule I of the UCC which lists prohibited relationships. He wrote, “Under Uniform Civil Code ‘Aunt / Uncle’s Daughter’ cannot be married. Recorded as a restricted bond.” This was seen as an attempt to gaslight Hindus and his post sounded as if this was valid for the entire country.

Netizens slammed Arvind for his half-baked post and schooled him on the fact that most of the relationships listed in the image he shared were already a part of the Hindu Marriage Act and that this was restricted to Uttarakhand.

“Neutral” political commentator Sumanth C Raman also jumped onto the bandwagon to peddle fake news. In a post on Uttarakhand being the first state in the country to implement UCC, he wrote, “Goa has had a UCC for decades but never mind facts.” forgetting the most important fact that Goa got the UCC under Portuguese rule.

Netizens promptly schooled him on the topic reminding him that it was under the Portuguese rule that UCC was implemented in Goa.

The Dravidianists went to another extreme and shared infographics of cousin marriage in South Asia.

Whether this was shared to send a message of “resistance” to the central government or is a message of approving incest, is not clear.

https://twitter.com/angryoldman27/status/1755446831717237227

In response to the Dravidianists, some netizens pointed out a few relations that were assumed to be common.

Some questioned if the Dravidians were competing with Pakistan in the cousin marriage category.

Some netizens called out the duplicity of Dravidianists who are very vocal about inter-caste marriages especially targeting Brahmin women.

Several others pointed out the health implications of consanguineous marriages.

Others pointed out that it is not right to flex, of all things, for incest.

TimesNow-Matrize Survey Predicts 20.4% Voteshare For BJP In TN In Upcoming LS Polls

In the lead-up to the much-anticipated elections in Tamil Nadu, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making noteworthy strides, particularly with the enthusiastic reception of Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party Chief K Annamalai’s Padayatra. Despite projections indicating the BJP winning just one seat in the DMK-ruled state, there is an optimistic undertone for the party’s prospects, according to the latest TimesNow-Matrize survey.

The TimesNow-Matrize survey reveals that the BJP is estimated to secure a vote share of 20.4%, a promising figure that is expected to witness an upward trajectory as election day approaches. A significant 58%of respondents believe that Annamalai’s PadaYatra will have a positive impact, underlining the growing appeal of the BJP’s campaign efforts.

In a state where the DMK-Congress alliance is projected to dominate with 36 out of the 39 seats, the BJP’s resilience is evident.

While 44% of survey participants expressed dissatisfaction with Chief Minister MK Stalin’s governance, the positive sentiment surrounding Annamalai’s yatra indicates a potential shift in public perception. This positive outlook is reflected in the growing support for the BJP, with voters expressing confidence in the party’s agenda and leadership.

Political pundits predict that if not for the DMK’s alliance dynamics, the BJP could surpass the DMK in terms of individual vote share in Tamil Nadu and that the numbers for BJP will go up from here.

As the electoral landscape continues to evolve, the BJP’s rising vote share and the optimistic response to Annamalai’s PadaYatra paint a picture of a party on the ascendancy in Tamil Nadu. With the elections drawing near, the BJP’s strategic campaigns and the positive resonance with the electorate set the stage for an engaging and closely contested political battle in the state.

Veshtis Given For Pongal Contain 78% Polyester – TN BJP Head Levels Corruption Allegations On DMK Govt

In a recent visit to the Ranipet Assembly Constituency Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party chief K Annamalai, as a part of his En Mann En Makkal padayatra, put forth accusations of corruption against Tamil Nadu Handloom Minister, Gandhi.

Annamalai alleged that the minister, nicknamed “Commission Gandhi” owing to his corruption, was involved in a sophisticated form of corruption related to the distribution of Pongal sarees and veshti (dhotis). Contrary to the significance of his name, Annamalai alleged that Minister Gandhi was known for soliciting commissions from weavers and workers involved in the production of veshti and sarees.

Furthermore, Annamalai said that corruption was blatant in the procurement of free cotton veshti and sarees for distribution during the Pongal festival.

Annamalai’s specific accusation revolved around the composition of the fabric used in the Pongal sarees and veshti. Traditionally, only cotton thread is utilised for weaving veshti. However, this year, he alleged that there has been a deviation from this norm, with an increased use of polyester thread. Instead of opting for the more expensive cotton yarn, priced at ₹320 per kg, the authorities purportedly resorted to using polyester yarn, available at half the cost (₹160 per kg).

Annamalai posted on his official X handle that a sample of the dhoti distributed during the Pongal collection was reportedly sent to the textile research center in Coimbatore for testing. Shockingly, the results revealed that 78%of the dhoti was made from polyester, while only 22 percent comprised cotton. This, Annamalai stated, has raised concerns about a substantial reduction in production costs coupled with widespread corruption.

Annamalai also shared the test results obtained from the Coimbatore-based South India Textile Research Association, shedding light on the alleged malpractices in the Pongal saree/veshti distribution.

Interestingly, it has been observed that several Instagram reels were circulated around the time of the saree distribution/Pongal festival. Influencers in Tamil Nadu were reportedly promoting the sarees, praising their “fine” quality. These revelations further deepen suspicions of an orchestrated effort to mislead the public about the actual composition and quality of the distributed sarees. One such video of the Instagram reel is shared below:

Self-Styled Fact-Checker Zubair Hits A Self-Goal On UCC, Spreads Lies About Hema Malini Marriage To Dharmendra; Gets Schooled On Facts By Netizens

A video of Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha MP, Hema Malini, was circulating on social media platform X. In the video, the RS MP from Mathura was seen speaking to ANI on the topic of UCC being passed in the Uttarakhand Assembly. She said, “We are very happy. It is good news for women irrespective of Hindu, Muslim, Christian, or Sikh. They were deprived of many things for the last so many years. I am proud that our government did this…”

Replying to this, self-styled fact-checker wrote, “Says BJP MP who converted to Islam just to marry his co-star because she could not have tied the knot as per the Hindu Marriage Act because Dharmendra was already married back then.”

Zubair did not realise that he hit a self-goal with this statement because it is his own community that indulges in polygamy and has necessitated this law to be passed.
