“Impossible To Provide Water For 15 Lakh Crowd,” Says DMK Min Sivasankar After 5 Die & Scores Hospitalized Due To Gross Crowd Mismanagement By State Govt At Chennai Air Show

Tamil Nadu Transport Minister SS Sivasankar joined the fray of DMK members deflecting responsibility over the Chennai air show fiasco. He blamed the Centre for the mismanagement despite the DMK-led state’s oversight responsibilities.

In a recent press conference, Sivasankar cited weather conditions and cooperation with the central government as reasons for the chaos that led to five deaths. He further questioned departments like railways and metro for the lack of arrangements, even though essential resources remain under state control.

Sivasankar attributed the issues to weather conditions, stating, “We could only cooperate with them and cannot dictate terms.”

He added, “The Air Force organized the event under the central government. It’s clear that all departments coordinated and held special meetings for this. The accusations are coming not from the Air Force but from political parties, and we can see what the truth is.”

Later questioning the lack of water facilities and amenities, Sivasankar said, “It is not possible for the government to provide drinking water to 15 lakh people gathered.” He also illogically questioned the central government’s departments, like the railways and metro, about their arrangements, even though the state controls the necessary resources.

Who Said What?

Before Sivasankar, Greater Chennai City Corporation Mayor R Priya defended the preparations and attributed the deaths to weather conditions. She said, “The deaths were due to heat and dehydration. We had arranged for water, ambulances, and barricades.

Ma Subramanian

State Health Minister Ma Subramanian also defended that all five deaths were heat-related and assured that measures would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. He said, “Five people died from heat exhaustion, and 102 others were affected by the soaring temperatures.”

RS Bharathi

Former Rajya Sabha MP and DMK leader RS Bharathi has run his mouth once again, making insensitive comments on the deaths in the aftermath of the IAF air show in Chennai on 6 October 2024.

Speaking to the press, the DMK leader said, “It is regrettable, but the arrangements had been done by the government, as stated by Ma Subramaniam. They also intimated the public to bring umbrellas and water bottles. Despite this, due to some people’s carelessness, things have happened. There is no report out yet. Depending on that, the government will take action. 15 lakh people assembled, it was sunny, and they died due to stroke. Those who were already sick should not have gone there.”

Syed Hafeez

Another DMK spokesperson Syed Hafeez kept justifying the deaths were not due to a stampede. Speaking to Times Now, he said, The event was well organized. The government and the Corporation of Chennai with coordination from 4 other departments had done their best to avoid such a situation. See you have to understand, tehre was no stampede. If the state government had not organised this well, in such a manner. To completely blame the state government of mismanagement is not acceptable. See other news channels, people are praising the state government.”

Saravanan Annadurai

DMK member and advocate Saravanan Annadurai blamed the public for not taking adequate water bottles, caps, etc. He even questioned the health issues those who died may have had. It seemed to indicate that he was saying blaming the State government for poor arrangements is being done for political reasons.

He wrote, “Aviation adventure and politics of jealousy! Yesterday the Indian Air Force, the adventure shows at the Marina were not properly coordinated, the trains were not running, 5 people died, and the state government should be held responsible. I also went to see the adventure, we walked 3 km, saw, walked again and reached home.

Important questions.

1. When 10 lakh people will gather, can all the vehicles be allowed to the place of adventure?

2. Can get down early and walk the last 2 or 3 km on your own.

3. Yesterday the sun was 36 degrees, walking in that sun and standing in the top sun can see this adventure. It has to go by itself with minimum progress. Hat, water, umbrella.

4. Adequate number of ambulances were available and first aid treatments were available for those who fainted in the sun.

5. Everyone has a desire to see it in person. They must have come to the event feeling that this hot environment would allow their bodies to cooperate. At least for about 3 hours, you have to walk to stand in the sun.

6. The death of 5 people is very regrettable, taking into consideration their health condition.

7. Southern Railway should explain why they are not running enough trains.

8. Is there a structure that can accommodate more than 10 lakh people in a short period of time?

9. Our guards did an excellent job, from first aid treatment to traffic regulation.

10. Majority of the people of Chennai who came to the program, enjoyed the program and left with satisfaction. They had come to the program knowing what kind of facilities would be available in such programs and how much would the facility be. It was conducted by the Union Government itself, what is their role? Those who try to portray this as some kind of administrative failure have no intention other than political jealousy.”

He went on to state that there was no stampede, so everything was fine. He wrote, Only an autopsy will tell us how 5 people were dead? Did they have any pre existing illness, which got exacerbated while standing in the hot sun for 3 to 4 hrs. There was no stampede.”

Kanimozhi

As if paying lip service, DMK MP Kanimozhi indirectly blamed the IAF for wanting to gather a large number of people. She wrote, The news of the death of 5 people is very sad and painful when the public who witnessed the military flight adventure program held at the Marina beach in Chennai suffered from the crowd and the temperature was high. Unmanageable gatherings should also be avoided.”

Salem Dharanidharan

DMK spokie Salem Dharanidharan also blamed the IAF, stating they wanted to create a record and that the TN government did not organise the event. He said, It is unfortunate that lives were lost and it should not happen. There have been many events, full-fledged events conducted in the state where more number of people have participated. There have been fantastic arrangements. Even our party conducted the Youth Wing conference which broke the record was fantastically arranged. The Air Force organizes this and it is not the Tamil Nadu government that wanted to create a record. People, out of their own willingness wanted to come and we made proper arrangements but I am not certain how these mishaps happened.”

The Event

On 6 October 2024, a record-breaking crowd at the air show on Chennai’s Marina Beach led to five deaths and over 100 hospitalizations, highlighting serious planning and management failures by the DMK, which was responsible for organizing the event at the request of the IAF.

The Indian Air Force’s air show received a tremendous response in social media, attracting a turnout that exceeded all expectations. Held on 6 October 2024, the event attracted around 1.3 million attendees, including many from neighboring districts. Unfortunately, the overwhelming crowd overwhelmed the city’s infrastructure, resulting in five fatalities and over 100 hospitalizations, as reported by officials.

In response, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin pledged to improve arrangements for future large-scale events. While authorities noted that effective planning prevented a potential stampede, they acknowledged that the lack of an exit strategy and the hurried departure of attendees led to chaos. Stalin admitted that although “stampedes were prevented, people faced difficulties in reaching their vehicles and accessing public transport.” He also announced compensation of ₹5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives.

Stalin’s statement emphasized that the government had coordinated efforts involving police, fire and rescue services, the Greater Chennai Corporation, and the Health Department to manage the crowd effectively.

Inadequate Planning

Organizers and local officials identified two main factors contributing to the tragedy: the excitement generated on social media, which led to an unexpectedly large turnout, and poor planning regarding crowd dispersal.

This air show was the first of its kind in Chennai in over 20 years. While officials initially estimated around 1.1 million attendees, the actual number surged to between 1.2 and 1.3 million, arriving via trains, metros, buses, and private vehicles. The event, which ran from 11:30 AM to 1 PM, turned into a logistical nightmare as the entire crowd attempted to leave simultaneously.

Officials from the IAF and the state government revealed that crowd control measures were in place, but the massive turnout caught everyone off guard. A senior police officer reported that more than 40 ambulances and multiple medical teams were stationed for the event. “There was good communication among all agencies, but we failed to develop an effective dispersal plan,” the officer noted.

An IAF senior officer indicated that while barricades and crowd management strategies prevented a stampede, the sudden rush to leave exposed significant planning flaws. “Everyone, including us and the authorities, fell short regarding the exit strategy. There should have been prioritized pathways for children, women, and the elderly. The absence of such planning, combined with the public’s eagerness to leave, caused the issues,” he stated.

The city’s Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) did not increase service frequency despite the large crowd, leading to viral videos of long lines at the Velachery MRTS station.

The consequences were dire: five men lost their lives while trying to return home, and more than 100 were hospitalized due to heat exhaustion, dehydration, and other complications from the congestion. Many ambulances became stuck in traffic, and attendees reported waiting for over an hour in extreme heat.

A senior police officer noted that clearing a crowd of 40,000 at Chepauk Stadium after a cricket match typically takes an hour. He explained, “We had over 1.3 million people at Marina on Sunday. While the planning and barricades prevented a stampede, the absence of an exit strategy was our downfall.

Egypt Revives Rail Service In Sinai, Ending 50-Year Hiatus

Egypt Revives Rail Service In Sinai, Ending 50-Year Hiatus

A 100-kilometre railway in Egypt’s North Sinai began trial operations, restoring train service to the region for the first time in more than half a century.

The Al-Fardan-Bir al-Abd line, featuring newly renovated stations, marks the first phase of a broader project aimed at modernising and expanding rail connectivity across the Sinai Peninsula., reports Xinhua news agency.

The Egyptian Ministry of Transport and Industry announced plans to extend the line to approximately 500 kilometres, linking Al-Fardan to Taba.

“Operating this line will ease the movement of people and goods from Sinai to other governorates, foster the development of new urban communities and industrial zones, and support economic projects in North Sinai,” said Egypt’s Minister of Transport and Industry, Kamel al-Wazir, at the inauguration ceremony.

The resumption of rail service is viewed as a vital part of the Egyptian government’s strategy to spur development in Sinai. This region has long struggled with marginalisation and security issues.

“This railway will connect cities, towns, and villages across North Sinai, providing a crucial boost to the region’s development efforts,” said Abdel-Hamid al-Akhrasy, a tribal leader from North Sinai, underscoring the line’s potential impact on local communities.

Train services in Sinai were largely suspended following the 1973 Arab-Israeli war due to conflict and military operations in the area. Egypt has been working to upgrade its transport infrastructure as part of a broader economic reform program.

ADMK Which Allied With SDPI For 2024 Lok Sabha Elections Suspends Senior Leader Thalavai N Sundaram After He Participates In RSS Rally

AIADMK Suspends Senior Leader Thalavai N Sundaram After He Participates In RSS Rally

In an unusual decision, the AIADMK has chosen to relieve MLA and senior member Thalavai N Sundaram from all party positions, citing a violation of party bylaws. General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami made this announcement on 8 October 2024. This move underscores the AIADMK’s submission to pressure from its rival, the ruling DMK, and is seen as another hasty reaction to sustain its identity as a Dravidian party.

Thalavai N Sundaram has been suspended from his roles as the AIADMK’s organizing secretary and Kanniyakumari East district secretary. This decision follows his participation in a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) rally in Kanniyakumari just two days prior.

Since the AIADMK severed ties with the BJP in September 2023, General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has repeatedly emphasized that the party will not collaborate with the BJP in the future, including during the 2026 Assembly elections. Sundaram’s involvement in the RSS rally may have been perceived as damaging to the party’s image.

While Palaniswami’s suspension announcement did not specify the reasons, he indicated that Sundaram’s actions were contrary to party principles. As an inquiry is needed, Sundaram has been temporarily relieved of all party positions.

In response to the suspension, Sundaram stated that he attended the rally solely as an MLA and did not breach any principles.

This development occurs amidst concerns about the AIADMK’s weakening position, particularly in Tamil Nadu’s southern districts. BJP State Convenor H. Raja welcomed Sundaram, suggesting he might consider joining the BJP.

Sundaram has a long history with the AIADMK, having been elected as an MLA from Kanniyakumari in 2001. He also served as a Rajya Sabha member from April 1996 to May 2002. He held various ministerial roles in J. Jayalalithaa’s cabinet from 2001 to 2006, covering key areas such as revenue and public works. Although he was dropped from the cabinet in December 2002 and relieved of his organizing secretary duties in December 2011, he was later appointed Kanniyakumari East secretary in July 2014. He returned to the Assembly by winning his seat again in the 2021 elections.

Breaking Barriers: Dr SI Padmavati, Tamil Brahmin Woman Who Became India’s First Female Cardiologist

Dr SI Padmavati, Tamil Brahmin Woman Who Became India's First Female Cardiologist

Sivaramakrishna Iyer Padmavati, fondly known as S I Padmavati, was a trailblazing cardiologist whose dedication to advancing medical science and serving the poor earned her a lasting place in India’s medical history. Born on 20 June 1917, in Rangoon, Burma (now Myanmar), into a Tamil Brahmin family, she rose above societal expectations to become India’s first female cardiologist. Her incredible career spanned over seven decades, during which she made groundbreaking contributions to cardiology and created pathways for countless others to follow in her footsteps. Padmavati’s life was of defiance, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to service.

Early Life And Education

Padmavati was born to a barrister father who had moved to Rangoon for work. Named after her father, Sivaramakrishna Iyer Padmavati grew up in a middle-class family at a time when Indian society placed traditional and limited expectations on women, especially in terms of education and career aspirations. However, her family supported her education, and Padmavati pursued her dreams with determination.

At a time when most women were confined to household duties, Padmavati earned her MBBS degree from Rangoon Medical College. The 1940s were tumultuous for her family as World War II had engulfed the world. When Japan invaded Burma in 1942, she and her family were forced to flee to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, leaving behind everything they had known. Despite the displacement and hardships, Padmavati’s indomitable spirit saw her through these difficult times.

Journey to Excellence in Medicine

After the war, Padmavati’s quest for excellence in medicine led her to the United Kingdom. In 1949, she earned her prestigious FRCP (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians) from the Royal College of Physicians in London. This was an extraordinary achievement for any Indian doctor, let alone a woman at the time. But she didn’t stop there. Padmavati sought further training under some of the greatest medical minds of the time.

She was selected to study at Johns Hopkins University in the United States, where she worked under the legendary cardiologist Dr. Helen Taussig. Her time at Johns Hopkins was a turning point, further sharpening her skills in cardiology. Soon after, she moved to Harvard University to study under Dr. Paul Dudley White, one of the founders of modern cardiology. By the time she completed her training in the United States, Padmavati was at the peak of her medical prowess, and many prestigious career opportunities awaited her. However, she made a decision that would define her life’s work: she chose to return to India to serve her fellow citizens.

Pioneering Cardiology In India

In 1953, Padmavati returned to India and joined Lady Hardinge Medical College in Delhi, where she opened the country’s first cardiology clinic. Her expertise quickly earned her a reputation as an outstanding physician, and she became a beacon of inspiration for many young doctors, especially women. It was in India that Padmavati truly left her mark, as she established the first cardiac catheterization lab and introduced modern cardiac care to the country.

By 1962, she had founded the All India Heart Foundation (AIHF), to provide quality cardiac care to the poor and underserved. Her vision for the foundation was to treat patients and focus on preventive cardiology, making heart health a national priority. This collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) helped train a generation of students in cardiology and set India on the path to becoming self-reliant in heart care.

In 1967, she joined Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) as a professor of cardiology. Her reputation had spread far and wide, and in the same year, she was awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours. During her tenure at MAMC, she also simultaneously became the chief administrator of three prestigious institutions—Maulana Azad Medical College, Lok Nayak Hospital, and G. B. Pant Hospital—overseeing their medical and academic programs with unparalleled dedication.

Padmavati’s contributions to medical education were equally impressive. She started India’s first Doctor of Medicine (DM) program in cardiology, ensuring that future generations of Indian doctors would have the knowledge and skills to excel in the field. Her commitment to teaching, mentoring, and building medical infrastructure was as strong as her commitment to patient care.

Establishing The National Heart Institute

After her retirement in 1978 as the director of Maulana Azad Medical College, Padmavati embarked on yet another ambitious project. In 1981, she founded the National Heart Institute (NHI) in Delhi, under the aegis of the All India Heart Foundation. The institute grew to become a premier center for cardiac care, combining patient treatment with research and outreach programs to prevent heart disease. Even in her later years, Padmavati worked tirelessly at the NHI, often putting in 12-hour workdays well into her 90s.

Honours And Legacy

Throughout her life, Padmavati was showered with accolades. In 1992, she received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, in recognition of her monumental contributions to cardiology and medical education. She was also the first Indian woman to become a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2007, a rare honor that she received at the age of 90, cementing her place as a pioneer on the global stage.

Despite her numerous accomplishments, Padmavati remained deeply committed to serving the poor. She and her sister Janaki, a neurologist, founded the Janaki-Padmavathi Trust, through which they donated their entire earnings to provide life-saving heart surgeries for underprivileged patients. This selflessness was characteristic of her entire career, during which she always prioritized the welfare of her patients over personal gain.

Padmavati continued to work until the age of 95, retiring only in 2015. Even after retirement, she remained a guiding light for the medical community, always advocating for better healthcare for all.

Passing And Enduring Influence

On 29 August 2020, Padmavati passed away at the age of 103 after contracting COVID-19. Her death marked the end of a glorious era in Indian cardiology, but her legacy continues to inspire countless doctors and healthcare professionals in India and around the world.

Sivaramakrishna Iyer Padmavati was more than a pioneering cardiologist; she was a beacon of hope and an example of selfless dedication. Her remarkable achievements in the face of adversity, her contributions to Indian healthcare, and her tireless service to the poor make her one of the most inspiring figures in Indian history. She shattered glass ceilings, set new standards in cardiac care, and dedicated her life to improving the health of her fellow Indians, leaving a legacy that will endure for generations.

Grandson Of MS Subbulakshmi Petitions Madras HC To Block TM Krishna From Receiving Award Named After Legendary Singer

Grandson Of MS Subbulakshmi Petitions Madras HC To Block TM Krishna From Receiving Award

The Madras High Court is currently hearing a petition filed by V Srinivasan, grandson of Carnatic music legend MS Subbulakshmi, seeking to prevent the prestigious MS Subbulakshmi Award from being conferred on renowned musician TM Krishna. The award, instituted by the Madras Music Academy in 2005, will be presented to Krishna during the Academy’s annual music festival in December.

Srinivasan’s petition argued that Krishna has made disrespectful and derogatory remarks about his grandmother after her death, and therefore, honouring him with the MS Subbulakshmi award would be inappropriate. He cited incidents where Krishna allegedly referred to Subbulakshmi asthe greatest hoax of the twentieth centuryand asaintly Barbie doll. Srinivasan contended that Krishna’s statements have caused distress to Subbulakshmi’s family and that conferring the MS Subbulakshmi award on him would be paradoxical, given his critical stance on her legacy.

The MS Subbulakshmi Award is presented annually alongside the Sangita Kalanidhi Award, the highest honour bestowed by the Madras Music Academy. The petition further argues that the award contradicts Subbulakshmi’s will, which stipulated that no memorial, trust, or foundation be established in her name.

In response, the Madras Music Academy clarified that the award recipient is chosen transparently, and Subbulakshmi’s family has not objected since the award’s inception. The Academy emphasized that the governing body does not influence the selection of awardees.

Justice RMT Teekaa Raman, presiding over the case, adjourned the hearing until 21 October 2024, allowing Krishna to file his response.

Krishna, a Magsaysay Award-winning musician and activist, is known for his efforts to bring in EVR’s ideologies into the world of Carnatic music. It is noteworthy that in 2024 several musicians registered their protest to this designation, some even returned their own Sangita Kalanidhi titles.

Artistes Who Registered Protest Against TM Krishna’s Designation Decision

Musician sisters duo Ranjani Gayatri withdrew from participating in the highly anticipated Music Academy conference slated this year. Additionally, they have also pulled out from presenting their scheduled concert on 25 December 2024. Following this, several music exponents and artists put forth their stances on the issue.

Vedic scholar and Upanyasika Dushyanth Sridhar posted on his social media handles that he had conveyed to the Madras Music Academy that he would not be performing on 1 January 2025 (after the sadas).

Hari Katha exponent Smt Vishakha Hari also shared her thoughts on the issue. She wrote on her Facebook page, “By Guru’s grace, I have been following the principle of “Mind your own business and stick to your core values and principles”. But this time, I have decided to move away from that stance as certain actions in the recent past threaten my core values. This year’s Sangeetha Kalanidhi designated awardee has previously engaged in a lot of slandering, hurting many’s sentiments tremendously and willfully. He has not been a regular performer in the institution for years, either. I (as many others) believe that values and virtues are as important as the music – as what Sri Thyagaraja, Sri Muthuswamy Dikshithar, Syama Sastri– our beloved Music Trinity also believed and lived by. This whole journey of Nadopasana is intended towards divinity. I wonder if the late Sangeetha Kalanidhis like Ariyakkudi or Semmangudi or Palghat Mani Iyer would accept this decision if alive today. What would their stance be? Also, would even the present Sangeetha Kalanidhis accept this decision? Awards may come and go. But setting the right role models for posterity is what is important.”

Chitravina Ravikiran announced that he was returning the Sangita Kalanidhi award conferred upon him in 2017. On his official X handle, he wrote, “RETURNING SANGITA KALANIDHI AWARD from ACADEMY: I’ve taken this step after careful consideration as principles much larger than all of us are at stake. However, I’ll always remain deeply grateful to the org for its role in my career from childhood”

Trichur Brothers, in a post on their official X handle wrote, “Formal announcement that we are pulling out of the Annual Conference 2024 of The Music Academy, Madras, for obvious reasons. To participate in a conference presided by Mr TM Krishna would make us outright hypocrites in our own eyes.

Sincerely,

Trichur Brothers”

About TM Krishna

TM Krishna belongs to a family that boasts of a hoary and extremely wealthy past. His grand-uncle is TT Krishnamachari, son of a Madras High Court judge TT Rangachari during the British Raj.

TM Krishna is known more for his ‘activism’ than his music. He often courts controversy with his leftist views and plays second fiddle to the tunes of Dravidianists. He had also participated in the blatantly anti-Hindu global conference titled “Dismantling Global Hindutva“. Before that, he had felt sad when the 26/11 Mumbai attack terrorist Ajmal Kasab was hanged.

He has hailed EVR and has even sung songs revering him. Recently, he released a song titled “Sindhikka Sonnavar Periyar,” which means “EVR told us to think,” in contrast to what EV Ramasamy Naicker told his Dravidar Kazhagam followers. EV Ramasamy Naicker always wanted his followers not to think and just follow his orders like a military organization.

He had also written a hitjob piece on the revered carnatic singer Bharat Ratna MS Subbulakshmi for rabidly leftist rag The CaravanHe has even distorted Carnatic music to display his secular credentials by singing Islamic songs in Carnatic tunes.

Hindu Munnani Condemns Tirupur Blast, Calls For High-Level Probe

Hindu Munnani Condemns Tirupur Blast, Calls For High-Level Probe

The Hindu Munnani has strongly condemned the bomb blast that occurred in Tirupur’s Pandian Nagar, urging the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate action and launch a high-level investigation into the incident. The explosion, which took place in the afternoon, resulted in the tragic deaths of three people, including two children, and caused significant damage to surrounding homes.

The house owner, Karthik, and his brother-in-law, V Saravanakumar, who ran the unauthorized firecracker unit, were detained. Among the deceased were Kumar (39) from Erode district and baby A Alia Shirin, while an unidentified woman is suspected to be Kumar’s wife.

The blast happened at a place where ‘firecrackers’ were being illegally made for ‘temple festivals’.

The explosion occurred in Karthik’s two-story home, which housed knitwear workers on the first floor. Saravanakumar’s expired license for his firecracker unit had not been renewed, but he continued production illegally, using Karthik’s house.

The explosion caused several houses in the densely populated industrial area to collapse, leaving many residents critically injured. Large unexploded bombs were discovered at the scene, raising serious concerns about the presence of dangerous explosives in a residential area.

Forensic experts found explosives at the site, while residents blamed authorities for failing to detect the illegal operation.

AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

In a statement, Hindu Munnani’s state president, Kadeswara Subramaniam, questioned how such large quantities of explosives were brought into the heart of the city without detection. He expressed concern over the apparent failure of the police and intelligence services to prevent such a catastrophe, criticizing the Tamil Nadu government’s focus on ideological conflicts rather than public safety.

“This incident highlights the negligence of the state’s intelligence and security apparatus. Instead of focusing on internal security, the government is using its resources for political vendettas, disregarding the safety and welfare of its citizens,Subramaniam said.

Hindu Munnani has called on the Tamil Nadu government to revamp the police and intelligence agencies and allow them to function independently. The organization also urged the government to establish a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the background of the incident thoroughly.

In addition to demanding a comprehensive probe, Hindu Munnani has called for compensation for the blast victims. The group has requested a relief fund of ₹50 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and ₹5 lakh for those injured in the blast. They further demanded that the government rebuild homes for those who were displaced by the explosion.

The incident has left the city of Tirupur in shock, with many questioning how explosives could be stockpiled in such a populated area. Hindu Munnani’s call for a thorough investigation aims to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

After Haryana Poll Win, Amit Shah Hits Out At Rahul Gandhi For Tarnishing India’s Image Abroad

After Haryana Poll Win, Amit Shah Hits Out At Rahul Gandhi For Tarnishing India's Image Abroad

After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a historic win in the Haryana Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of tarnishing India’s image abroad for political gain while stating that Haryana voters have rejected such divisive tactics. “Haryana, the land of farmers and soldiers, has taught a lesson to those who go abroad and insult the country for vote bank. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Haryana for allowing BJP to serve the state for the third consecutive time,” he said.

Shah also said that the people of Veer Bhoomi Haryana have entirely rejected the negative and divisive politics of Rahul Gandhi and his Congress party, which divides people based on caste and religion, and have chosen the 10-year track record of development and welfare of BJP. He attributed the BJP’s victory to the ‘Politics of Performance’ introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a post in Hindi on X, Amit Shah said: “Whether it is the election of PM Modi for the third consecutive time at the Centre or the repeated formation of the BJP government in Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and other states, this shows that the public has unshakable faith in the new era of Politics of Performance that the BJP led by PM Modi has started in Indian politics.”

He further said: “First in the Lok Sabha elections and now in Haryana, the people have completely rejected the Congress which made false and empty promises to get votes and are standing like a rock with the BJP which is delivering on the ground.” Addressing the people of Haryana, Shah remarked: “The BJP government at the Centre and in the state under the leadership of PM Modi will fulfil all your aspirations and hopes. Hearty congratulations to all the workers of the party. Salute to the people of Veerbhoomi Haryana. This massive victory of the BJP in Haryana is a victory of the unwavering faith of farmers, the poor, the backward, the soldiers and the youth in the BJP government led by Prime Minister Modi.” BJP President JP Nadda echoed Shah’s sentiments, describing the win as a testament to public faith in PM Modi’s “public welfare, development, and good governance”.

“This consistent victory of the BJP in the Haryana Assembly elections is a reflection of the people’s unwavering faith in the welfare policies implemented by the double-engine government led by the illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he posted on X. He added: “This mandate shows that the people of Haryana have completely rejected the divisive and appeasement politics of the Congress. For the first time in the state, a political party has set a new record by winning power for the third consecutive time. This hat-trick of victory is the people’s overwhelming support for PM Modi’s welfare, development and good governance. I congratulate the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, State President Mohan Lal Badoli and express my gratitude to the public.”

Reacting to the election results of Jammu and Kashmir, Nadda said: “We accept the mandate received in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Violent incidents have been curbed in Jammu and Kashmir since the abolition of Article 370. There was a time when the voting percentage was very low, but the huge number of voters in this election reflects the unprecedented enthusiasm of the people in the festival of democracy. The BJP is committed to the all-round development and public welfare of Jammu and Kashmir. We will continue to raise every issue of development and public interest. Congratulations to all the workers of BJP and thanks to the public.”

UN Officials Urge Negotiations To Restore Stability Along Lebanon-Israel Border

Ongoing Hostilities Are To Nobody’s Benefit, Asserts India After Israeli Airstrikes On Iran

The escalation of violence and destruction along the Lebanon-Israel border will neither solve the core issues nor bring security to any relevant parties in the long run, United Nations officials said on Tuesday. It has been one year “since near-daily exchanges of fire commenced across the Blue Line,” in which “far too many lives have been lost, uprooted, and devastated, while civilians on both sides of the Blue Line are left wanting for security and stability,” Chief of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Aroldo Lazaro Saenz and UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert said in a joint statement.

“Every missile or rocket launched, bomb dropped, and ground raid conducted pulls the parties further away from the vision outlined in UN Resolution 1701 (2006), as well as from the conditions necessary for the enduring security of civilians on both sides of the Blue Line,” they said on the Lebanon-Israel border conflict.

“A negotiated solution is the only pathway to restore the security and stability that civilians on both sides so desperately want and deserve. The time to act accordingly is now,” they added.

UNIFIL was originally created by the UN Security Council in March 1978 to confirm the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, restore international peace and security and assist the Lebanese government in restoring its effective authority in the area, Xinhua news agency reported.

After the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel, UNIFIL’s mandate was expanded to monitor the cessation of hostilities and to accompany the deployment of Lebanese armed forces throughout southern Lebanon as Israel withdraws its troops. According to UNIFIL, the force has around 10,147 peacekeepers coming from 49 troop-contributing countries. Since September 23, Israel has launched an intensive air campaign on Lebanon, dubbed “Arrows of the North,” marking a significant escalation with Hezbollah. The cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel, which began on October 8, 2023, have raised concerns of a wider conflict amid the ongoing Hamas-Israel war in Gaza.
