100% Literate Kerala: Officer Roasts Bullets In Pan At Kitchen Of Kochi Police Station To Remove Rust And Make Them Clean

A high-level probe has commenced in a case of fire reported at the kitchen of a police station in Kerala’s Kochi, where bullets were burnt in a pan. The incident occurred on March 11 in the kitchen attached to a Kerala Police camp. A top police official confirmed to IANS that the incident had taken place and the probe was going on.

This strange incident surfaced when the police camp received a call that a squad had to be made available for the ceremonial farewell to an officer who had passed away. In Kerala, this is a common practice for the police squad to be made available when the state government decides to give a befitting funeral to any person who passes away.

Once the permission is granted, as per the protocol, the squad of police personnel arrive in uniform, stand before the mortal remains and fire upwards as a mark of respect to the departed soul. When one such call came on March 11, the official in charge of the ammunition at the Police camp C.V. Sajeevan got into the act of getting the men and material required to give their colleague who passed away the ceremonial farewell. Sajeevan while readying the guns and the bullets required for the function found out that a few bullets looked rusty.

With little time left for the function, Sajeevan felt that there was no time to place the rusted bullets in the sun and then clean them using a cloth. As a measure of quick redressal, Sanjeevan thought that a little fire may clean the bullets. He took a few of them to the kitchen, put them into a pan and lit the fire underneath.

After a while Sajeevan was in for a shock when the bullets exploded and fire ensued. The fire was doused quickly without causing any further damage to the kitchen where gas cylinders were kept. The probe has commenced and the higher officials are awaiting the full-fledged report for further action.

Indian-Origin Researcher Badar Khan Suri Detained In US Over Alleged Hamas Ties And Antisemitism

Badar Khan Suri, an Indian-origin researcher at Georgetown University, has been detained as part of an ongoing crackdown on individuals allegedly linked to extremist organizations within U.S. academic institutions. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has accused Suri of spreading Hamas propaganda and promoting antisemitism, citing his close familial ties to the Palestinian militant group.

Suri, a post-doctoral fellow at Georgetown’s Alwaleed Center for Christian and Muslim Understanding, is married to Mapheze Ahmad Yousef Saleh, the daughter of senior Hamas leader Ahmed Yousef. According to reports, Saleh is currently a graduate student at Georgetown’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. The Middle East Forum, a think tank monitoring extremism, revealed that Suri has repeatedly endorsed Hamas, denied the group’s 7 October 2023, massacre in Israel, and justified violent resistance on social media.

https://twitter.com/TomHoman_/status/1902527602298163217

Suri’s posts include dismissals of well-documented atrocities, such as beheadings, rapes, and mass killings, while also praising Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. In a particularly controversial post, he shared a video of Hamas terrorists holding Israeli child hostages, writing, “This is how Hamas men dealt with kids on Oct. 7,” a statement seen as defending their actions.

The DHS has classified Suri as having close connections to a “known or suspected terrorist,” referring to his wife and father-in-law. Georgetown University, however, has stated that it was unaware of any illegal activity by Suri on campus. “Dr. Khan Suri is an Indian national who was duly granted a visa to enter the United States to continue his doctoral research on peacebuilding in Iraq and Afghanistan,” a university spokesperson told Politico. “We expect the legal system to adjudicate this case fairly.”

Suri’s lawyers argue that he has no criminal record and has been unfairly targeted due to his marriage. However, his case follows a broader effort by U.S. authorities to investigate extremist ties in academia. Other scholars, including Columbia University’s Mahmoud Khalil, Brown University professor Dr. Rasha Alawieh, and researcher Ranjani Srinivasan, have also been scrutinized for alleged sympathies toward Hamas or Hezbollah.

A U.S. federal judge has ordered that Suri not be removed from the country following his arrest and impending deportation over alleged ties to Hamas.

Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles of the Eastern District of Virginia issued the order Thursday evening (20 March 2025), stating that Suri “shall not be removed from the United States unless and until the court issues a contrary order.” The ruling comes after the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed an emergency motion to stop the deportation, arguing that his detention was politically motivated and aimed at suppressing dissent.

As Georgetown faces growing scrutiny over its ties to figures linked to Hamas and extremist ideologies, the Middle East Forum, in collaboration with the Clarity Coalition, is preparing to release a detailed report exposing deeper connections between the university and radical networks. The report is expected to reveal links to foreign states and domestic extremist groups that have allegedly gained influence over one of the nation’s most prestigious institutions.

Research from CAMERA and the Middle East Forum exposes that his wife, Mapheze Saleh, has openly worked for Hamas, a designated terrorist organization, and praised its attacks. Suri himself has ties to Hamas leaders and extremist groups. Politico fails to challenge misleading claims by Suri’s lawyers and conflates support for Hamas with Palestinian rights.

Recently, an increasing number of Indian-origin students have been influenced by these terrorist organizations and have expressed support for them, only to be apprehended by the law.

Riddhi Patel

Riddhi Patel, a 28-year-old pro-Palestine protester, was arrested inside the Bakersfield City Council chambers in April 2024 for making violent threats against council members and the mayor. She faces 16 felony counts, including eight for intent to terrorize and eight for threatening city officials. During a council meeting, Patel opposed new security measures, calling them criminalization of the public, and made threats, stating, “We’ll murder you.” Her inflammatory remarks went viral, sparking outrage. The Bakersfield City Council proceeded with approving security enhancements, refusing to be intimidated by her threats.

Prahlad Iyengar

In December 2024, Prahlad Iyengar, an MIT PhD student, was suspended until January 2026, effectively ending his NSF fellowship, after publishing an article in Written Revolution that critiqued pacifism in resistance movements, particularly in Palestine.

He argued that nonviolence alone is insufficient against oppression and suggested violent resistance could be a legitimate strategy. MIT accused him of promoting violence, citing his article’s imagery, including the PFLP logo. His suspension has sparked controversy, with supporters claiming a violation of free speech, while critics see him as aligning with extremist ideologies.

Ranjani Srinivasan

Ranjani Srinivasan, a Columbia University PhD scholar, self-deported from the US in March 2025, using the CBP Home App to avoid potential legal complications after her student visa was revoked. The US Department of Homeland Security cited her failure to disclose two court summonses from a pro-Palestine protest at Columbia University in April 2024 as a violation of immigration law. Additionally, she was found to have participated in activities supporting Hamas, a designated terrorist organization. This involvement, along with her omission of legal interactions during her visa renewal, led to her visa revocation.

ED Arrests SDPI Member Wahidur Rahman In Mettupalayam Under PMLA Act

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Wahidur Rahman, a 28-year-old member of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), in Mettupalayam on 20 March 2025 and took him to New Delhi for further investigation.

According to reports, ED officials began searching Rahman’s residence at around 12:15 PM, with the search continuing until 6:00 PM. During the search, several documents were seized, and Rahman was subsequently arrested. He was then flown to New Delhi that night for further questioning.

As the ED operation was underway, SDPI leaders and supporters gathered outside Rahman’s house, protesting against the central government and raising slogans. It is noteworthy that Rahman had previously been arrested in 2022 for throwing a petrol bomb at a building after the government banned the Popular Front of India (PFI), but he was released on conditional bail.

Backdrop

This arrest comes under the backdrop of Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducting multiple searches across states since 20 March 2025, as part of its money laundering investigation against the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political wing of the banned terrorist organization Popular Front of India (PFI).

Raids were carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) at various locations, including Mettupalayam, Coimbatore, Arcot, and Vellore in Tamil Nadu; Bhilwara and Kota in Rajasthan; Kolkata in West Bengal; and Kottayam and Palakkad districts in Kerala.

In Mettupalayam, Coimbatore, the ED searched two locations, one of which was linked to an SDPI party member, following suspicions of large-scale money laundering. One of the individuals under scrutiny was Rajik, a resident of Annaji Rao Road Extension in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore, who operates an iron shop and serves as the Coimbatore North District Secretary of SDPI. ED officials, assisted by CRPF personnel, are currently conducting searches at his residence. Similarly, the agency is investigating the residence of Reela, who owns a fruit shop near the Mettupalayam bus stand.

These raids follow the recent arrest of SDPI president Moideen Kutty K, also known as MK Faizy, on 3 March at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Authorities claim that SDPI continues to advance the ideology of the banned PFI and receives funding from it.

SDPI – A Front For PFI?

The central government banned PFI and eight associated organizations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) on 28 September 2022, citing concerns over radicalization and terror financing. The crackdown, led by the ED and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of alleged incriminating materials. The government claimed that PFI, with a significant presence in Kerala, was involved in activities that posed a threat to national security.

Founded in 2009 and registered as a political party with the Election Commission of India, SDPI has been accused by the ED of functioning as a front for PFI. The agency alleges that SDPI was both funded and controlled by PFI, with a strong interconnection between the two organizations. ED claims that PFI played a direct role in SDPI’s operations, including policymaking, election campaigns, public outreach, and mobilizing cadres.

According to the ED, SDPI served as a cover for PFI’s alleged anti-national activities while outwardly presenting itself as a social welfare organization. The investigation is ongoing, with officials examining financial links and organizational overlaps between SDPI and PFI.

DMK’s Leader RS Bharathi Known For Making Abusive Casteist Remarks Stoops Low Again, Addresses BJP Leader Tamilisai In Singular Hurling Derogatory Insults At Her

In yet another tirade by DMK members, senior leader RS Bharathi has once again made disparaging remarks about TN BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan.

Addressing a public gathering in Puducherry, RS Bharathi said, “You know the one who speaks a lot, she says if you drink cow urine, cancer will be cured. She is a qualified doctor and the intellectual genius says that if you drink cow urine, cancer can be cured. How did you qualify for MBBS? Did you get the seat by scoring marks? My dearest leader Kalaignar helped you get a seat in the medical college in a quota because your father Kumari Ananthan because he was a Tamil scholar. In the quota given to you by Kalaignar, because he was a Tamil scholar, you were able to study to be a doctor, and now you are getting signatures for 3 language policy, what should I beat you up with? Do the people of Tamil Nadu have no feelings or sense? A few of us are still alive. During the 1965 anti-Hindi protests I was studying in a Christian college. We passed SSLC in 1964. There are people like Durai Murugan and Gopalsamy who participated in the struggle in 1964, and only four or five people like us are alive. Those who saw all this, to what extent, how much atrocities have happened in this country, how big a struggle has it been. Today, you say we will implement the three-language policy here, and I don’t care who collects these signatures. Annamalai can also collect it. He didn’t study properly, so I don’t care. But if Tamilisai who studied under the Tamil quota is collecting these signatures, we have to narrate history.”

He further added, “Young speakers like them have come here. From now on, it is them who has to pass this on to the younger generation. Many people don’t know the dangers. Even here, those who spoke before, it is not only about Hindi, but also the NEP – the so-called National Educational Policy has some very cruel conditions. It is not only about hereditary/ancestral education. They will conduct exams in 3rd standard itself, if you fail, you have to leave the school. They will conduct exams in 5th grade, if you fail you have to graze cows. This law has been brought to destroy our education and our knowledge. This was also there during the Congress period, before 1967. When we were studying, we wrote an exam called ESLC, in the eighth standard. The younger generation today does not know all this. After studying everything and getting a degree, they immediately think that they have studied and achieved because of their family and gotra pride. They think that we have studied and come because of pride. We need to understand who is responsible for this education. If we say that DMK does not exist, if we say that there is no such being as Kalaignar, then no one would have studied in Tamil Nadu. They will conduct an exam in the eighth standard. If they fail, they will not be able to go to the ninth standard. They have to leave it and come back. They have to work in the grocery store or work at a mechanic shop and change tyres.”

This is not the first time that RS Bharathi has made such derogatory statements against anyone. Here is a list of what he said in the past.

Against Judges

Speaking at a public meeting recently, he has openly derogated Brahmins. He recollected the incidents around former CM Karunanidhi’s death and how his body was buried at Marina Beach alongside other former Chief Ministers after a legal battle. While doing so, he claimed that the judge hearing the case was not a Brahmin and implied that had it been one, Karunanidhi would not have been buried where he is now.

He said, “Karunanidhi told us to bury him near Annadurai. When he (Karunanidhi) passed away, Thalapathy Stalin said that he should pursue the case in court himself. Continuing the case, Thalapathy accepted Kalaignar’s order and gave him a six-foot plot of land in Chennai through the court. Fortunately, had that judge had been a Brahmin (shows janeu/sacred thread with hand gestures), we would not have gotten it. Fortunately, he is one of us. I don’t delve deeper into this. Then the judge said at 11 pm, if you can somehow go and get this writ petition numbered in the High Court and send a notice to the government, I will hear this case in court at night itself.”

RS Bharathi has made derogatory statements about judges earlier.

He was arrested in May 2021 by the Central Crime Branch of the Chennai city police in May 2020 for allegedly making inflammatory remarks at a party meeting in February. In his speech, Bharati reportedly said that it was only because of the Dravidian movement’s alms (pichchai) that Dalits were able to become judges in Tamil Nadu. Referring to a judge, he reportedly said that many Dalits were inducted into the judiciary because of the indulgence of the DMK leadership during former chief minister M Karunanidhi’s tenure.

Speaking at an event in Anbagam (the DMK youth wing headquarters), in February 2020, he said “If Tamil Nadu remains the best state, it is because of the Dravidian movement. No Harijan has become a judge of the High Court in Madhya Pradesh. After Karunanidhi became Chief Minister A Varadarajan was appointed as HC judge. Seven or eight others from the Adi Dravidar community went on to become judges after that. It is the alms (picchai) given by the Dravidian Movement”. He later issued an apology for his remarks.

Insulting Political Leaders

EPS

During an event in Ambattur, Chennai in 2021, DMK leader RS Bharathi made derogatory remarks about the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi Palaniswami. He said, “He has forgotten with whose help, this dog, this man sat on the CM’s chair. Those who kick the ladder that they used for climbing up have never met a good end. I would say even MGR is also like that. MGR was nurtured and made into a leader by this movement. But you know what happened when he betrayed. He passed away without being able to speak.”.

Making Derogatory Remarks On Jayalalithaa

He also made disrespectful comments about J. Jayalalithaa, implying that he was responsible for sending her to jail in the TANSI case, and even suggested speaking to her from her memorial. He said, “Go wake her up from the samadhi [memorial] and ask”. He also added, “Recently, Jayalalithaa’s memorial hall was opened on January 27. They gave ₹40,000 per bus from all over Tamil Nadu. They gave ₹2000 to those who boarded the bus. They picked them up and dropped them off at Marina Beach. Edappadi and OPS thought that the whole crowd would come to the Jayalalithaa memorial. But the crowd thought, instead of visiting that ‘moodhevi’ (a derogatory slang in Tamil), they visited Kalaignar’s [Karunanidhi’s] memorial”.

Governor Also Like Bihari Panipuri Sellers

In January 2023, at a public meeting, he compared the Governor to a migrant worker from Bihar and said that he would not have left without being beaten had Jayalalitha been alive. “I had earlier stated that those who sell Soan papdi and Panipuri don`t know the pride of Tamil Nadu. I said this in a meeting. I came to know that many have come from Bihar and I think the Governor (RN Ravi) has similarly come by train,”.

Insults Kamarajar

In October 2022, RS Bharati at an event said, “Supreme Leader Kamaraj said he would cut off the thumb of DMK members. But it was us who built his grave. No Congressmen did that. To date, everyone is worshiping in the grave we built for Kamaraj.” “I’m sorry. I’m just telling history. I don’t mean to hurt anyone,” he said.

Mocks MGR

In March 2024, at a DMK event in Salavakkam, RS Bharati mocked MGR’s final speech and linking it to his death. RS Bharathi said, The last speech was when he said that he would ban the DMK. His arms and legs were paralysed, he was admitted to Apollo, and remained speechless and gone. I want Modi to understand this and that is why I am reminding him of it.

“Today Even A Dog Gets A BA Degree”

In July 2024, he stated that even a dog could obtain a BA degree due to the Dravidian movement. Speaking at a DMK Students Wing protest against NEET, he criticized the exam’s irregularities and credited the movement for expanding education access while accusing the Modi government of evasion.

RS Bharathi said, “I am a lawyer B.L educated. Ezhilarasan BE, BL. All these did not come from clan or gotra. If it was not for the alms of the Dravidian movement and communal GO, so many doctors and so many people with B.E degrees would not have come. When I studied BA, only one person in the town had studied BA. Then they will write the title on the name board outside the house. Now everyone in the town is studying for a degree, even a dog is getting a BA degree. Dravidian movement is responsible for this development.”

North Indians Are Fools

At a meeting (in an undated video), Bharathi is seen saying, “The reason why Tamil Nadu is the best state in India is because of the DMK. The people in the other states are fools, they have no brains, these north Indians, I am saying this openly.”

Says Bihar & UP People Eat Chapati Kurma At Amma Canteen

During a party meeting in Chennai in September 2024, RS Bharathi questioned the relevance of Amma Unavagam, the late Jayalalithaa’s pet project. He asked about the need for a low-cost meal scheme after her death and accused AIADMK leaders of exploiting it.

He also claimed that only the north Indian workers benefited from Amma Unavagam on Tamil Nadu taxpayers’ money.

During his speech, Bharathi criticized AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), dismissing claims that the DMK government had closed Amma Unavagam. He said, “Amma (Jayalalithaa) herself has left (died), then what is the need for Amma Unavagam? Edappadi and his gang ate idli and dosa for one and a half crore rupees while Amma (Jayalalithaa) was in the hospital. Now they are acting like the DMK has shut down Amma Unavagam, where just about 150 people eat daily,” Bharathi remarked.

Bharathi also attacked the Jayalalithaa government’s management of Amma Unavagam, alleging that “wasted food” was served there. He said, “The Jayalalithaa government served leftover food in Amma Unavagam. The chapati and kuruma served at night in Amma Unavagam are consumed by people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. We spend our tax money and feed him,” said RS Bharathi.

Called Media As ‘Redlight’ Media

In February 2020, in a video widely shared on social media, the DMK leader is heard asking why the media had made a matter of debate about his party employing political strategist Prashant Kishor. In a four-minute video clip that went viral, Bharathi can be heard saying: “I am silent because I am in this party post of organising secretary. These journalists don’t have a job. They only blame us. (Arvind) Kejriwal used Prashant Kishor, Narendra Modi used him and many others used him. But they discuss only when the DMK is using him and now it has become a debate. I say it openly that these TV journalists are real scoundrels. They run debates like red-light area in Mumbai. They do anything for money. ‘Thalapathy’ (MK Stalin) goes to temples, but that doesn’t become a debate, people in his house go to a temple, and they discuss it. Is it very important for the country?”

Pakistan Authorities Clueless As Deadline For Mass Deportation Of Afghan Refugees Approaches Islamabad

The Pakistan government has not set any guidelines as the deadline for the mass repatriation of Afghan refugees from the country is just ten days away, leaving relevant departments clueless.

The Afghan Commissionerate in Pakistan which is responsible for Afghan refugees under the federal administration has reportedly not received any official instructions from the government, according to media reports. Pakistan’s government has not issued any directives to the concerned authorities regarding the repatriation of refugees, causing confusion among them, the country’s leading daily, The Express Tribune, reported on Friday.

Pakistan has set a March 31 deadline for the deportation of all Afghan refugees. However, some Afghans are hoping for an extension of the deadline. As relations with Afghanistan reached an all-time low, Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed the deadline is still in place. Meanwhile earlier this week Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi called for the gradual repatriation of Afghan refugees.

Addressing an iftar gathering for diplomats in Kabul at which Pakistani Charge d’Affaires Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani was present, he stated that over the past four decades, millions of Afghans have migrated to different countries, including Pakistan and Iran. “Refugees should be respected and their return should be gradual and dignified, and there are some problems that make it difficult to prepare for the arrival of refugees all at once. Pakistan’s leading newspaper Dawn reported quoting Muttaqi. Recently, the US-based advocacy group Human Rights Watch slammed Pakistan for the forced deportation of Afghan refugees.

“Pakistani officials should immediately stop coercing Afghans to return home and allow those facing expulsion to seek protection,” said Elaine Pearson Asia Director at Human Rights Watch. According to the rights watchdog, Pakistani police have raided houses, beaten and arbitrarily detained people, and confiscated their refugee documents, including residence permits. They have also demanded bribes to allow Afghans to remain in Pakistan.

The United Nations has reported that most Afghans who have returned to Afghanistan have cited fear of detention by Pakistani authorities as the reason they left. Masood Rahmati, an Afghan journalist, said that even Afghans who are registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) or who had valid residence cards were not safe in Pakistan. Several reports revealed that Afghan refugees are facing massive harassment and abuse in Pakistan.

Asking various human rights organisations to take action on their behalf, the Afghan refugees stated that despite holding valid legal documents, they are facing the threat of illegal detention, deportation, and discrimination.

“North Indians Have Increased Their Population After Breeding Like Pigs”, Says DMK Minister T.M. Anbarasan

I.N.D.I ally and the DMK MSME Minister, T.M. Anbarasan, has once again found himself at the center of controversy after making disparaging remarks about North Indians in the ongoing debate over parliamentary seat delimitation. He compared the region’s population growth to pigs giving birth, a statement that has drawn widespread criticism. This comes shortly after another contentious remark at a DMK event, where he suggested that Hindi speakers in his household were involved in cattle herding—comments seen as derogatory toward migrant laborers who work hard to earn their livelihood.

At an event organized by Pallavaram North DMK to celebrate the 72nd birthday of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, which also included the distribution of welfare assistance, DMK MSME Minister T.M. Anbarasan spoke about India’s population policies and their impact on parliamentary seat allocation.

He recalled that the family planning program was first introduced in India in 1966 to curb population growth, as India remains the most populous country after China. He mentioned that the program initially promoted the slogan “We Two, Ours Two,” which later changed to “We Two, Ours One,” emphasizing the need for population control. He noted that southern states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh adhered to the central government’s guidelines on family planning, leading to a decline in population growth in these regions.

However, he criticized the northern states for not following the same measures, resulting in a significant population increase. He argued that this has now led to parliamentary seat redistribution based on population, disproportionately affecting the southern states. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu’s 39 parliamentary constituencies and other southern states’ seats are being reduced, while northern states gain more representation.

He said, “Initially, they said, ‘We Two, Ours Two,’. Then they said, ‘We Two, Ours One.’ After five years, they said, ‘We are children, why we need child’. Like Tamil Nadu, the southern states of Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh all accepted and strictly followed the central government’s policies, ensuring that our guys did not have more than one or two children. As a result, the population in these states decreased. However, if you look at North Indians, the population has increased significantly, breeding like pigs. Now, they are using this population as a basis for seat reorganization, which is negatively impacting our constituencies.”

Anbarasan further alleged that the central government was prioritizing the northern states for political advantage, ensuring dominance in governance. He accused the government of withholding funds, including ₹2,150 crore meant for education, and neglecting the interests of the southern states. Additionally, he criticized the central government’s approach toward gubernatorial appointments, alleging interference in state governance.

This is not the first time Anbarasan has made such derogatory statements. Take a look at his history of such remarks.

Ridiculing Hindi Speakers

Previous to the above disparaging remark, I.N.D.I ally and DMK’s MSME Minister, T.M. Anbarasan, made contentious remarks at a DMK event, stating that Hindi speakers in his household are engaged in cattle herding. His comments were seen as disparaging towards migrant laborers who earn their livelihood through hard work and perseverance.

He said, “Where are the ones who studied Hindi? Where are they? those who studied Hindi are rearing cows at my home. I’m not joking, It’s true. They are selling Panipuri, mason, carpenters. If we study Hindi we also have to go to North India and sell Panipuri.”

Grudge Over Working North Indian Migrant Laborers

In March 20224, during an event organized by Alandur Government Higher Secondary School, DMK MSME Minister T.M. Anbarasan commented that men in Tamil Nadu were not engaged in work but rather loitering in TASMAC for liquor. He noted that wherever he looked, Hindi-speaking individuals and women were the ones working, despite the content of his speech being intended as humorous, seemed to overlook the harsh reality of citizens’ lives.

Anbarasan commented, “Now women are working more than men, no men are working. Our men are heading towards TASMAC after sending their wives to work. Look, I’m not saying this for laughs… This is our family, our people, so I’m talking happily. Men don’t work, I’ve said this in many gatherings, you can check who is at the tea shop. Who is there? There is only a northerner who came through migration, even if go to Adyar Ananda Bhavan there are only Hindi speaking people. He doesn’t understand what Masala Dosa is, and we don’t understand what he is saying.

Madras High Court Orders HR&CE Dept To Conduct Thaipusam And Chithirai Chariot Festivals At Ukkadam Sangameshwarar Temple Annually

The Madras High Court has directed the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department and the police to ensure the uninterrupted conduct of the Thaipusam and Chithirai chariot festivals at the Ukkadam Sangameshwarar Temple in Coimbatore every year. The festivals, which had been suspended since the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts, were the subject of a legal petition seeking their restoration.

The petition was filed by Muthuganesan, Coimbatore District General Secretary of the Hindu Temples Protection Movement, who highlighted that the chariot processions had been a tradition at the temple for over 300 years before being halted in 1998. He stated that attempts to revive the processions last year were denied due to the parliamentary elections and urged the court to ensure their regular conduct.

A bench comprising Chief Justice K.R. Sriram and Justice Mohammed Shafiq heard the case. Advocate B. Jagannath, representing the petitioner, pointed out that the temple, which dates back to the 10th century and was renovated by the Parantaka Cholas and Kongu Cholas, had successfully conducted the Thaipusam chariot festival in February following the petition. He requested a similar directive for the Chithirai chariot festival.

Special Government Pleader N.R.R. Arun Natarajan, representing the Charities Department, informed the court that the festival had been suspended between 2021 and 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, temple renovations, and consecration ceremonies. He assured that, just as the Thaipusam festival was held on 11 February 2025, the Chithirai chariot festival would take place as planned on 10 May 2025.

The police acknowledged that Ukkadam is a sensitive area but confirmed that permission for the Chithirai festival would be granted with the necessary conditions.

After hearing all arguments, the court ordered the authorities to conduct both chariot festivals annually without any hindrance, thereby closing the case.

2020 Delhi Anti-Hindu Riots Conspiracy: The Role Of Rahul Gandhi’s Close Aide And Congress Leader Sachin Rao

A shocking revelation has emerged, exposing that the 2020 Delhi riots were not spontaneous but a meticulously planned conspiracy that had been unfolding since 6 December 2019. Reports indicate that a key Congress office bearer played a crucial role in the orchestration of these events.

The central Congress figure involved was Sachin Rao, a close associate of Rahul Gandhi and a prominent party office bearer. He was a member of the DPSG WhatsApp group, which played a crucial role in planning and coordinating the 2020 Delhi riots.

On 14 December 2019, then-Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi delivered an aggressive speech at the Bharat Bachao Rally in Ramlila Maidan. She urged people to take to the streets against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), referring to the agitation as an “aar ya paar ki ladai” (a fight to the finish) and suggesting that individuals should be willing to make sacrifices. This speech was later cited by some victims as a contributing factor to the riots.

Investigations have uncovered Congress’ deeper involvement, with evidence linking its student wing, NSUI, to groups coordinating violent protests on university campuses. NSUI member Reetam Singh was reportedly leading efforts to replicate protest strategies from Assam and Hong Kong, advocating for tactics such as “Chakka Jam” (road blockades). This strategy was later mirrored in the Shaheen Bagh protests and the riots in Delhi.

Significantly, the idea of “Chakka Jam” had first emerged on December 7, 2019, when activists Yogendra Yadav and Umar Khalid directed Sharjeel Imam to mobilize youth via social media. According to the Delhi Police chargesheet, a meeting was held on December 26, 2019, at the ISI Lodhi Colony, attended by individuals such as Harsh Mander, Yogendra Yadav, Umar Khalid, and others. It was in this meeting that strategies were formulated, including using women as the face of protests to prevent police intervention.

Further evidence links Congress figures to the conspiracy, with key members of the DPSG (Delhi Protests Support Group) WhatsApp group playing central roles. This group, created on 27 December 2019, was instrumental in coordinating the riots, with accused individuals such as Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam being active participants.

Of particular note is the involvement of Sachin Rao, a close aide of Rahul Gandhi. Rao was added to the DPSG group on 29 December 2019 and remained until 12 March 2020—shortly after the riots concluded. His participation raises questions about Congress’ role in the violence.

What’s DPSG WhatsApp group & Connection With Congress

The DPSG WhatsApp group played a central role in the planning and coordination of the 2020 Delhi riots. It was formed on 27 December 2019, following a key meeting held on 26 December at ISI, Lodhi Colony. This meeting was attended by several prominent individuals, including Harsh Mander, Yogendra Yadav, Umar Khalid, Nadeem Khan, Khalid Saifi, Sahil, Rahul Roy, Saba Dewan, Amrita Johri, and others.

During this meeting, critical decisions were made regarding organizing protests, ensuring demonstrations took place in Muslim-majority areas, emphasizing women’s participation to limit police action, arranging financial resources, and setting up legal support for detained individuals. The formation of the DPSG group was also decided in this gathering, and the minutes of the meeting were later shared in the group by Khalid Saifi.

Following its creation, the DPSG WhatsApp group became a key platform for coordination, with accused individuals such as Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam among its members. Evidence presented in court and investigative reports have repeatedly emphasized the group’s role in planning and executing the riots. Concerns were even raised within the group itself, as one member, identified as “Owais Sultan,” warned about an unfolding conspiracy to incite violence.

A particularly significant revelation from the group’s membership list was the presence of Sachin Rao, a close aide of Rahul Gandhi and a senior Congress office bearer. He was added to the group on 29 December 2019, and remained a member until 12 March 2020, when he was removed by the group admins. Given the group’s role in the riots, his continued presence raises questions about his awareness and involvement.

The DPSG group’s origins can be traced back to activist Rahul Roy, a key figure behind the “Not In My Name” protest. When members were initially added, questions arose regarding identity verification. On 29 December, an individual named “PC” insisted that all members disclose their identities, addressing Rahul Roy directly.

In that same message, “PC” also proposed mobilizing people to take to the streets and protect the Shaheen Bagh protest site.

Roy responded that only those present at the 26 December meeting had been added to the group.

During the introduction process, “PC” identified himself as Priyadarshi Chowdhury, a former serviceman linked to the Gandhi Peace Foundation and known for his association with the Aam Aadmi Party. At this point, Rahul Roy added another number to the group, which remained silent until 3 February 2020.

On this date, the individual using a number finally introduced himself as “Sachin Rao” and disclosed his affiliation with Congress. His presence in the group, which had already been flagged for inciting violence, raises critical concerns regarding the extent of political involvement in the conspiracy behind the riots.

Who Is Congress’ Sachin Rao?

Sachin Rao, who identified himself as “affiliated with Congress,” holds a more significant position within the party than a simple association. An analysis of the phone number added to the DPSG (Delhi Protests Support Group) WhatsApp group suggests that Sachin Rao is not only a key office-bearer in Congress but also a close associate of Rahul Gandhi.

According to the AICC (All India Congress Committee) office-bearers’ list, Sachin Rao, registered with the same mobile number, is designated as the in-charge of training for the Congress’ publication, Sandesh. Additionally, Rao serves as a “permanent invitee” to the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body.

Sachin Rao’s Political Role And Association with Rahul Gandhi

Sachin Rao has been widely recognized as a close and trusted aide of Rahul Gandhi. In 2022, when veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned, he penned a letter criticizing Rahul Gandhi’s reliance on his personal assistants and advisors. Among the names mentioned in Azad’s letter was Sachin Rao.

According to The Statesman, “Sachin Rao, who heads the Congress training cell, has moved out of Rahul Gandhi’s office, but his advice remains influential. He studied at Michigan Business School.”

Media reports have repeatedly highlighted Sachin Rao’s role within Rahul Gandhi’s inner circle since 2009.

  • In 2009, Open Magazine reported that Rao was handpicked by Rahul Gandhi for his team.
  • In 2013, Times of India described him as a key member of Rahul’s core team.
  • India Today noted that while Rao rarely traveled with Gandhi, he played an important role in shaping social-sector policies, internal research, and coordinating activities of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).
  • In 2015, Business Standard listed Rao as part of Rahul Gandhi’s “2.0 team,” emphasizing that he was personally selected by Gandhi.
  • In 2018, News18 identified Rao as an integral member of Rahul’s core team.
  • In 2019, The Print described Rao as part of Rahul’s “Office of RG,” a team formed after he became Congress President in 2017. This team included a mix of political and non-political figures such as Nikhil Alva, Alankar Sawai, K. Raju, Praveen Chakravarty, Sandeep Singh, and K.B. Byju.

As recently as 2024, journalist Rasheed Kidwai described Sachin Rao as a close confidant of Rahul Gandhi.

Sachin Rao’s Presence In DPSG Group And His Removal

Sachin Rao was added to the DPSG WhatsApp group shortly after its creation. According to statements made by group members, only individuals present at the December 26, 2019, meeting were added. Rao introduced himself in the group on 3 February 2020—just hours after a message was sent requesting all members to identify themselves. This suggests that Rao was actively monitoring the group’s discussions.

However, on 12 March 2020, Sachin Rao was removed from the group by Rahul Roy. Another individual, Athar Khan, was also removed on the same day.

The timing of these removals is notable.

  • The first arrest related to the Delhi riots took place on 5 March 2020.
  • A broader conspiracy investigation (FIR 59/2020) was registered on 6 March 2020.
  • The first arrest in the conspiracy case was made on 9 March 2020.
  • By 11 March 2020, news of the arrests became public.

On 11 March one of the group members, Mariya Salim, urged that the DPSG group be deleted and that all members clear their chat histories, suggesting they reconvene on the Signal app. Rahul Roy then advised all members to delete their messages individually. Immediately after this exchange, on 12 March Sachin Rao and Athar Khan were removed from the group.

Significance Of Sachin Rao’s Removal

Athar Khan has since been identified as a key figure in the Delhi riots conspiracy. He was charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), with the investigation highlighting his involvement in planning violent protests and road blockades during the visit of the U.S. President in February 2020.

Court documents cite multiple witness statements and WhatsApp chats indicating that Athar Khan participated in key meetings where violent escalation was discussed. His role in the conspiracy was considered substantial enough for the court to deny him bail in 2022, stating that the allegations against him were prima facie true.

Given these circumstances, Athar Khan’s removal from the DPSG group after the arrests became public appears understandable. However, Sachin Rao’s removal at the same time raises further questions, especially given his close association with Rahul Gandhi and his presence in the group.

US President Donald Trump Signs Executive Order To Begin Dismantling Education Department

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to formally begin the process of dismantling the Education Department, saying that his administration is returning education back to the states.

Beyond the “core necessities, my administration will take all lawful steps to shut down the department,” Trump said in a speech at the White House on Thursday. “We’re going to shut it down and shut it down as quickly as possible,” Trump said. Noting that the Education Department is “doing us no good” — citing low proficiency in reading and math among students in US elementary, middle and high schools — Trump said his administration is returning education to the states, Xinhua news agency reported.

The US president noted that the department’s functions such as Pell Grants, Title I, and funding resources for children with disabilities and special needs, will be “fully preserved” and be “redistributed to various other agencies and departments.” Pell Grants are a form of federal financial aid that helps low-income undergraduate students pay for college. Title I provides federal funding to school districts and schools that serve a high percentage of students from low-income families, focusing on improving educational opportunities for disadvantaged students.

“The Trump administration is denying the next generation the resources they need to succeed in order to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. It is a betrayal to students, parents, and educators,” Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Chair Rep.

Grace Meng and Education Task Force Chair Rep. Mark Takano said in a joint statement. “This is an unlawful decision and Congress must not cede its authority in the face of this order,” according to the statement. The establishment and dismantling of federal agencies generally require Congressional approval through legislation.

If Trump wants to shut down the Education Department, it must go through the legislative process in Congress. It is still unclear how he will proceed with this executive order. Trump has long criticised the Education Department, arguing that despite significant federal investment in education, the quality of education has not met expectations, citing deficiencies in American students’ skills in reading, math, and other areas.

At the same time, Trump has accused the department of being filled with individuals who hold left-wing ideologies, even describing it as a hotbed of “radicals, zealots and Marxists,” believing that these individuals have expanded their power through excessive guidance and regulation. He advocates for returning educational authority to the states to avoid excessive federal intervention.

The Education Department previously initiated a large-scale layoff. According to earlier US media reports, the department, which originally had 4,000 employees, would cut nearly half of its workforce. Trump said Thursday that the “reduction in force” was successful. “We’ve cut the number of bureaucrats in half, 50 per cent,” he said.

He was responding to a query raised by BJP legislator Shweta Mahale.

“The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a scheme of the Central government and as per the guidelines of the Central government, this scheme is being implemented in the state from the 2016 Kharif season. The Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme has been implemented in Buldhana district through the Agricultural Insurance Company of India. In Buldhana and Chikhali talukas, farmers have insured 1.26 lakh hectares through 1.45 lakh insurance applications in 2023 Kharif season. The area is covered under insurance. As of March 18, 2025, 26,488 insurance applications worth Rs 21.17 crore were approved, of which 16 were approved,” said Minister Kokate.
