DMK leader RS Bharathi calls late leader Jayalalithaa a ‘moodhevi’ and TN CM a ‘dog’, takes jibe at Jaya not having heir and questions ‘potency’ of TN CM

Yet again, RS Bharathi, the Organizational Secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), who had earlier spoken derogatorily of Dalits, has now made derogatory comments about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, late AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa and Sasikala.

With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections just around the corner, political parties in Tamil Nadu have gone into campaign mode. Speaking at an event held in Ambattur in Chennai, DMK leader R.S. Bharthi said that the current regime of Edappadi K. Palaniswami would end in two new moons.

“He has forgotten with whose help, this dog, this man sat on the CM’s chair. Those who kick the ladder that they used for climbing up has never met a good end. I would say even MGR is also like that. MGR was nurtured and made into a leader by this movement. But you know what happened when he betrayed. He passed away without being able to speak.”, RS Bharathi said.

He also said that it was he who sent Jayalalithaa to jail in TANSI case. “Go wake her up from the samadhi [memorial] and ask”, he added.

He went on to say in his speech “Recently, Jayalalithaa’s memorial hall was opened on January 27. They gave ₹40,000 per bus from all over Tamil Nadu. They gave ₹2000 to those who boarded the bus. They picked them up and dropped them off at Marina Beach. Edappadi and OPS thought that the whole crowd would come to the Jayalalithaa memorial. But the crowd thought, instead of visiting that ‘moodhevi’ (a derogatory slang in Tamil), they visited Kalaignar’s [Karunanidhi’s] memorial”, said R.S Bharathi.

He continued, “After MGR, did you (pointing out to ADMK) make RM Veerappan the Chief Minister? No. You made his wife Janaki the Chief Minister. After that, you made Jayalalithaa, who played MGR’s wife on screen for 25 years, the Chief Minister. First wife, then someone who acted as his wife on screen. Were you able to bring in Nedunchezhiyan? Were you able to bring Panruti Ramachandran? Were you able to bring in RM Veerappan? You are talking about dynasty politics looking at us. If you have no heir, how can we arrange for that?”

Speaking further about CM Palaniswami, RS Bharathi said “”When Udhayanidhi Stalin spoke, he said that you fell at the feet of Sasikala and became CM. But Udhayanidhi is facing a case for that. EPS went between the 2 legs of the table and then went below her 2 legs and fell down”.

Udhayanidhi Stalin speaking during a campaign spoke slanderous of CM Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Sasikala for which advocate Rajalakshmi lodged a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner’s Office. The Central Criminal Division police, which accepted the complaint, filed a case against Udayanithi Stalin in 4 sections.

However, this is not the first time DMK cadres have made obscene remarks in public speeches. Earlier, RS Bharathi found himself in a controversy when he made derogatory remarks on Dalit judges. Speaking at an event in the DMK youth wing headquarters, in February last year, the DMK MP had said it was due to the alms (picchai) given by the Dravidian Movement that persons from SC community became judges.
