Uddhav Thackeray Govt to ‘probe’ two living Bharat Ratnas Sachin and Lata Mangeshkar, Fadnavis lashes out for undermining Marathi Manus

In what has been viewed as an unfathomable event, the Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra government has announced that it will be ‘probing’ two living legends of India, Latha Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar, both of whom are conferred with India’s highest civilian honour ‘Bharat Ratna’, for putting out pro-India tweets after singer Rihanna’s comments on the farm laws.

Social media was abuzz many celebs started sending out tweets against Rihanna who sided with the controversial ‘farmer’ protesters sitting at the Delhi Border. The (accidental) revealing of a toolkit by Greta Thunberg with prefabricated messages and objectives to undermine the Modi government has also made the matter very delicate for the opposition.

Following this, many Ministers and personalities like Sachin Tendulkar, Lata Mangeshkar, Virat Kohli, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, etc had put out tweets that were pro-India.

Now the Maharashtra Government is going after those personalities who posted such tweets which includes Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar as well.

“It has been revealed that there were same posts by celebrities and at the same time. Hence it will be investigated why it has happened”, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been quoted as saying.

As per reports, it is the Indian National Congress that has come out with a complaint and reportedly had demanded an investigation into whether the BJP had “pressurised the celebrities” to post their tweets.

On February 6, NCP supremo and former Agriculture Minister of the Central Government, Sharad Pawar had asked Tendulkar ‘Exercise caution’ when commenting on farmers’ protest.

In what could be seen as sheer arrogance and condescension, Pawar said, I would advise Sachin to exercise caution while speaking about any other field,” Mr Pawar was quoted by news agency ANI.

It must also be noted that the members of Indian Youth Congress poured black oil on a cut-out of Sachin Tendulkar in Kochi and the irony is that it is the Congress government that gave Bharat Ratna to Sachin Tendulkar.

However, some experts believe that the Congress party led by Sonia Gandhi is very upset with Sachin Tendulkar as it was the Congress government that bestowed the Bharat Ratna on him and nominating him to the Rajya Sabha.

Also, in 2017 when Sachin Tendulkar was going to make his first speech as an MP in the Rajya Sabha, Congress members of parliament continued to shout slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi that led to the master blaster unable to make his speech.

BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra lashed out at the Uddhav Thackeray led government and called the move ‘disgusting’ and ‘deplorable’. He questioned if the Maha Vikas Agadi government lost its senses and called for ‘probing the mental state’ who ordered probes against Bharat Ratnas.

PM Modi cautions India on new kind of FDI coming in, Foreign Destructive Ideology

After calling the Aandolanjeevis as Parjeevis or parasite, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the Rajya Sabha on Monday (8 February) on the farm laws warned that India needs to be saved from a new kind of FDI – Foreign Destructive Ideology, reports Swarajya.

“I am seeing that nowadays a new FDI has entered the market known as Foreign Destructive Ideology. We have to save the country from it”, PM Modi said.

The quip about the Foreign Destructive Ideology came after school dropout and professional environmental activist Greta Thunberg shared toolkit which was enough to justify an internationally coordinated farmer protest and undermine Modi for 2024.

The toolkit was specific on how to “Disrupt “yoga & chai” image of India in general”.

Modi was at his best today when said, “We are aware of words like Shramjeevi, Buddhijeevi, but I am observing that a new Jamaat has recently taken birth in India known as Aandolanjeevi”, and went on to describe them as Parjeevis (Parasites)“, he added.

He did not stop there and called out on the hypocrisy of the opposition for its U-Turn on-farm laws. Modi quoted former prime minister Manmohan Singh’s pro-farm reform views to state and that he is implementing what Manmohan Singh once said.

“There are other rigidities because of the who marketing regime setup in the 1930s which prevent our farmers from selling their produce where they get the highest rate of return. It is our intention to remove all those handicaps which come in the way of India realising its vast potential as one large common market”, Prime Minister Modi quoted Manmohan Singh in the Rajya Sabha.

PM Modi takes dig at career protestors, calls them ‘Aandolan Jeevis’ and ‘parasites’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his vote of thanks on Monday (8 February) to President of India Ram Nath Kovind and after that took a dig on professional protesters by calling them as Aandolanjeevis, and warned that India needs to protect itself from such people, reports Swarajya.

“We are aware of words like Shramjeevi, Buddhijeevi, but I am observing that a new Jamaat has recently taken birth in India known as Aandolanjeevi”, said PM Modi.

In address, the PM said that  Aandolanjeevi Jamaat is seen everywhere be it student protests, lawyer protests or labour protests.

“They sometimes remain behind the curtain our appear in the public. This Aandolanjeevi group cannot live without protests and its members continually keep finding ways to stoke protests”, said Modi.

He was categorical when he said that these Aandolanjeevis do nothing but mislead people and the nation and it is important to identify them and he called the Aandolanjeevis are Parjeevis (Parasites).

Then he trained his gun on former prime minister Manmohan Singh’s pro-farm reform views. He said what I am doing is implementing what Manmohan Singh once said.

Modi said he hopes that those who did a U-Turn now will now pay attention to Manmohan Singh’s comments advocating freedom for farmers to sell their produce and a common farming market.

“You should be proud to know that Modi is having to do what Manmohan Singh said”, he added.

He even mentioned NCP leader and former Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar who have advocated for farm reforms.

Modi said it is ironic that those opposing the farm laws have implemented the same to some extent in their own state governments and also made it very clear that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) regime will continue to remain in force.

Joe Biden proposes meeting of Quad grouping to counterbalance China’s rise

Less than a month after taking the oath of office, Joe Biden administration has proposed to hold the first meeting of the leaders of the Quad grouping comprising India, Japan and Australia and the United States in a bid to counterbalance China’s rise, reports Economic Times.

Since taking office on 20 January, US President Joe Biden’s administration has shown a lot of eagerness to build on the renewed attention to the grouping of the four major Indo-Pacific democracies.

The new National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had called the Quad grouping as “a foundation upon which to build substantial American policy in the Indo-Pacific.”

The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue or the Quad grouping first created in 2004 in response to the Indian Ocean tsunami and from there the group’s activities were revived in 2017 to move beyond the areas of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief and to focus on advancing the efforts to ensure a “free, open and inclusive” Indo-Pacific.

Former US’ Secretary of State Michael Pompeo had called to “institutionalise” the Quad and grouping has the capacity to “push back against the Chinese Communist Party”.

It must be noted that unlike Australia and Japan, India is not a treaty ally of the US.

Controversial actor Siddharth says Prophet Mohammad, Jesus, Sai Baba, Guru Gobind Singh had sex without marrying

In an appallingly woke tweet, controversial actor Siddharth who is known for being a womanizer himself put out a tweet saying that Prophet Mohammad, Jesus, Sai Baba, Buddha and Guru Gobind Singh had ‘fornicated’, meaning they had sexual relationships with women before their marriage.

Usually known for his tweets against the incumbent government at the Centre, actor Siddharth took to sharing his wisdom on religion and spirituality out of the blue.

However, this tweet of the controversial actor is now being called out for its insensitivity and wokeness.

A user pointed out that ‘prophets are always men of exemplary character and that they never fornicate’.

A Christian user named Simon Selvaraj requested the actor to refrain from commenting on other religions and went on to say that Jesus has human qualities with Godly nature.

A few other users took a dig at his choice of word ‘fornicate’ and called him a ‘saste’ (cheap) Tharoor, an apparent reference to Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor who is known for his vocabulary.

‘Remove 1178 Pakistani-Khalistani accounts spreading misinfo’: India tells Twitter

With Twitter becoming a platform for triggering unrest by nefarious elements, Government of India has told Twitter to remove 1178 Pakistani-Khalistani accounts spreading misinformation and provocative content around farmers’ protests.

India Today quoting sources reported that these accounts are being run from Pakistan and were tweeting about the ongoing ‘farmers’ protests in Delhi border.

The Government of India has sent a latest list of 1178 accounts to Twitter on February 4.

However, Twitter has not yet complied with the earlier orders of having 257 accounts blocked in India. Around 250 accounts were withheld for tweeting, or retweeting, with the #ModiPlanningFarmerGenocide hashtag, and making “fake, intimidatory and provocative tweets” in connection with the ongoing ‘farmers’ protest. But the social media giant began unlocking some of them later.

India sees trade surplus of $10.97 billion in April-Nov 2020, but a narrow deficit in Jan 2021 YoY

India import export trump us tariffs

India’s overall (merchandise and services) exports during April-November of 2020 were worth $304.53 billion, higher than the overall imports of $293.56 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $10.97 billion for the period, Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Hardeep Singh Puri, informed the Rajya Sabha on February 5.

The overall exports of India also grew by 5.4 per cent equivalent to $1.4 billion in January 2021 year-over-year (YoY), said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The highest growth in exports has been observed in the engineering goods which is 18.7 per cent YoY amounting to $1.2 billion. The export of engineering goods to South Africa increased by 550 per cent YoY ($489.9 million) while the export for such goods to the United States increased by 16.3 per cent YoY ($160.7 million).

The surge in the export of drugs and pharmaceutical products was of 16.4 per cent YoY amounting to $292.6 million. The increase in export of pharma products to South Africa is of 67.9 per cent YoY ($33.1 million).

According to the Commerce Ministry, iron ore surged exponentially by 108.7 per cent YoY which is an increase of $274.6 million.

When it comes to overall imports, there has been an increase of $842 million during January 2021 which is just 2 per cent growth from January 2020. The overall imports plunged due to the sharp decline of imports of petroleum products by 27.7 per cent YoY which is a decrease of $3.6 billion.

Further, the imports of transport equipment also witnessed a negative trend with a decrease of 25.4 per cent YoY amounting to $561.9 million.

However, comparing the export and import data for January 2021 Year-on-Year (YoY), a narrow trade deficit by 3.6 per cent YoY ― equivalent to $545.3 million― has been observed for January 2021.

Some key steps by the Government ― such as extension of the Foreign Trade Policy (2015-20) by one year up to 31-3-2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, extension of the Interest Equalization Scheme on pre and post shipment rupee export credit by one year, the new Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme, Common Digital Platform for Certificate of Origin to facilitate trade and increase FTA utilization by exporters, promoting and diversifying services exports by pursuing specific action plans for the 12 Champion Services Sectors, promoting districts as export hubs by identifying products with export potential in each district, the package in light of the COVID-19 pandemic to support domestic industry through various banking and financial sector relief measures (especially for MSMEs which constitute a major share in exports), etc. ― were all undertaken to boost Indian exports.
