ABVP National General Secretary and 40 others arrested for protesting outside TN CM Stalin’s house

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s (ABVP) National General Secretary Nidhi Tripathi, and 40 other ABVP workers were arrested today, after protesting in front of Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin’s house, demanding Justice for Lavanya. This comes at a time when the SC just upheld the HC’s decision to transfer the probe to the CBI.

In a video, when the Press is asking her why she’s protesting, even after the Supreme Court’s verdict, she said, “Yes, but now the Government is not cooperating with the CBI. They’re also not cooperating with the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). Why are they not cooperating? They have to cooperate with both NCPCR and the CBI.”

When asked for a message to the Tamil Nadu government, Nidhi said, “We have only one question, Lavanya’s father is a member of the DMK for the past 25 years. But till now, they’re unable to deliver justice to their own cadres. What can we expect from them?”

The ABVP workers and Nidhi Tripathi are seen literally carried to the police cars for detaining them. Even then they keep raising the slogan “Justice for Lavanya”. Earlier this week, Nidhi Tripathi ad written a letter to the CM, subject of which was, “Lavanya’s Second Murder”. She had pointed out the insensitivity of the Tamil Nadu government towards the case, and also the lack of cooperation.

Bribe Banner: This VAO in TN’s Tirupur mentions money to be paid for receiving docs

In Tamil Nadu, if one needs to apply for any necessities from the government, one needs to get a certificate for the same from the Village’s administrative officials. So, it has become a common sight to see villagers standing in long queues to receive this certificate from the Village administrative officials.

However, it is also not easy to receive such a certificate. For every single signature, the VAO should be bribed. A lot of poor people are finding it difficult to bribe the officers and are forced to give their hard-earned money.

In this situation, a recent incident in the Tirupur district, has become an evidence to this allegation.

An unidentified person has put up a banner in Avinashi Panchayat, Tirupur. The banner’s title reads ‘Important Notice’ in Tamil, and is printed in bold letters. Below this title, the banner reads, “Nobody needs to argue with the Maniyakkara madam.” Below this, the banner gives details of the amount of bribe to be paid for the respective documents. The banner also says that the public will receive what they require, only if they paid the amount. The banner also says that a fake complaint will be lodged against those who disobey this rule.

Local government officials are not batting an eyelid on seeing this banner, and are rather going about their work. At the same time, the district administration is forced to look into the matter now.

Lavanya Suicide: Big setback to DMK govt as SC upholds HC’s order to transfer probe to the CBI

The suicide case of the 17-yr-old Lavanya from Thanjavur, is currently under the purview of Central Bureau of Investigation following the order from Madurai Bench of Madras High Court.

However, the Tamil Nadu government had appealed to the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court’s verdict which ordered for the case to be handed over to the CBI.

A special leave petition was filed by Tamil Nadu government, through the state’s Director General of Police (DGP). A two-judge bench of the Apex Court of comprising of Sanjiv Khanna and Bela Trivedi heard the appeal filed by the Tamil Nadu government challenging the Madras High Court.

As a major breakthrough in this situation, the Supreme Court has upheld the High Courts order. The Supreme Court has said that it will not interfere in the ongoing CBI probe in the case. The apex court also said that the CBI is to very much look into, or probe the forced conversion angle of the case as well. Addressing the Tamil Nadu government, the Supreme Court has said “Don’t make it a prestige issue”. In addition to all this, Tamil Nadu police are now asked to handover all the evidence related to this case, to the CBI.

A few days ago, Sagaya Mary, who was detained in the Trichy Central Jail, was released on bail. She was welcomed by DMK Trichy East MLA, Inigo Irudayaraj who honoured her with a shawl.

DMK men issue forms for availing ₹1,000 aid to women ahead of local body polls

Political parties across Tamil Nadu are campaigning for the upcoming local body polls, that is all set to happen on 19th February.

It has now come to the limelight that in addition to general campaigning, DMK candidates and cadres are now also going around with application forms, claiming it to be for ₹1,000 aid to women, which the DMK had promised in the run up to 2021 Assembly Elections.

The form asks for details such as Name of the woman head of household, address, phone number, Aadhar Card number, number of family members, Ration card type, Ration card number, Bank account number, and additionally also if they come under the Below Poverty line category.

The cadres and candidates who are issuing this form to the women of the household are also allegedly claiming that it is from the State government, although there has been no announcement on that front officially. It is to be noted that, when DMK was campaigning for the state elections, they had made the same promise, which made a lot of women vote for them, across the state. However, immediately after they came to power, Finance Minister P Thiaga Rajan said that it was only applicable to ‘poor’ women. After that, till date the DMK government has not fulfilled the poll promise.

With the DMK facing questions from the public about the non-fulfilment of promise, the cadres seem to be taking this approach.

Recently when MK Stalin’s son and DMK MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin was campaigning for the local body polls, he was asked by a commoner about the ₹1,000 for women, to which he said that they had four more years.

Check out the form that is being issued by them:

Pastor in Andhra Pradesh arrested for sexually exploiting around 17 women

The police registered cases against a 42-yr-old pastor for allegedly sexual exploiting about 17 women, in the past four years, in Payakaraopeta, Vishakapatnam. The case came to light after a woman, who was under his clutches, escaped and came directly to the Police to file a complaint, on Thursday night.

According to the Police, the pastor A Anil Kumar alias Prem Das, hailing from Vijayawada, come to Payakaraopeta in 2017. In 2018, he set up a trust called ‘Prema Swaroopi Ministries’ and lured these 17 women from various places. He brought them to the Trust’s premises, on the grounds of giving them spiritual discourses.

Since then, these women have allegedly been sexually exploited by the pastor. The complainant also said that the victims were threatened against leaving the premises, as he said that their respective families would face dire consequences. She also said that apart from the 17 women, the pastor also held 7 boys in the trust, who were kept there forcibly, and worked as slaves, even tortured by him.

The Payakaraopeta police then questioned the victims in the Trust, but apparently they were in some kind of trance, that they couldn’t open up fully to the Police. The police then opined that the women were maybe scared because of the Pastor and his doings. It was also found that the Pastor had already earned a lot of money in the name of spirituality and God.

Additional SP, Narsipatnam, D Manikanta inspected the trust and said that the police were enquiring about the facts. The Payakaraopeta Police have registered cases under relevant sections. The complainant was sent to Anakapalle hospital for medical tests. No arrests were made in the case till Friday evening.

“They drink cow piss and eat dung, We’ll thrash any RSS man who comes our way”: Tamil YT channel fans hijab flame instigating Muslim women

Over the past few weeks, a controversy has erupted in Karnataka over the wearing of hijab by certain Muslim students.

This has resulted in a political slugfest with one side accusing the other of inciting communal passions.

The issue first came to light in January 2022 when certain leftist portals reported about 6 girls from Government PU college in Karnataka’s Udupi district being denied entry into classrooms because allegedly because of wearing hijab. The six girls out of the more than 70 Muslim girl students in the college intensified their propaganda through radical Islamic outfit Campus Front of India (CFI) which is affiliated to the Islamist extremist organization Popular Front of India (PFI).

Soon, counter protests began in other colleges of Karnataka with Hindu students wearing saffron shawls demanding equality to prevail in classrooms.

The matter has now ended up in the Karnataka High Court with the court restraining students from wearing hijab or saffron shawls to calm the escalating situation.

With such a highly charged atmosphere prevailing in Karnataka, the media in Tamil Nadu especially certain YouTube channels that are soft towards the DMK have been fanning the communal flames in the state through inflaming content.

One such channel named Galatta Voice has come out with a video in which the anchor hosts a bunch of Muslim women clad in burqa and hijab who make incendiary statements.

A few women in the video claim that they face the same situation in schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu.

One of the burqa clad woman claims that her daughter was once told by school headmaster to not stand in front of him wearing the hijab. “See how much threat we are under! I don’t understand why they get irked by seeing this dress (hijab/burqa)”, she says.

Another woman says that she considers wearing hijab/burqa a honour which was given to them (by their religion).

“We’re told to remove our hijab/video outside before we enter the campus.”, claims another woman.

“Today in Karnataka, they were thrown out and gates shut. Here, it has not gone to that extent”, another burqa clad woman claims. It is to be noted that the six girls in Karnataka who suddenly started wearing hijab were not denied entry into the school but were asked to enter the classroom without the hijab as per the uniform code.

At one point, the anchor who is known for being provocative, asks a very incendiary question saying “Are you in fear or are you in a frame of mind to handle it ‘differently’ by the left hand?”

One lady responds that she is not scared of “wolves”. “These wolves eat only the decomposed. They drink cow urine and eat dung and hence their brains will also be decomposed. We Muslims are like lions.”, the burqa-clad woman says.

“We will protest and are even willing to sacrifice our lives for that. We don’t jump to protesting fearing for our lives.” one woman exclaims.

“Is the bravery shown by that one girl (the girl who yelled Allahu Akbar in front of camera) enough? Or you want more?” another old woman in burqa warns.

Another Muslim woman says that they will never ever give up Islamic practices for the sake of anything.

“Just like how we faced CAA-NRC, it is through the hijab movement we will attain victory”, a Muslim woman who claims to be a doctor tells.

“We will thrash any RSS man who comes our way.” another young burqa-clad woman warns.

“We will come wearing hijab. You’ve no other option but to teach. Allah has given the strength to fight for this. We will fight and emerge victorious”, another old woman says vociferously.

It is to be noted that the YouTube channel is popularly known for towing the line of the DMK and acting as a mouthpiece for the party.

The video which was premiered on February 12, 2022 has already got more than 1.5 lakh views.
