The Mainstreaming Of Hate Against Tamil Brahmins: A Walk Down The Dravidoid Alley

In an interview to ANI, Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai compared the plight of Tamil Brahmins to that of Jews under the Nazis. He said that some of the best talents of Tamil Nadu is living outside Tamil Nadu because of the anti-Brahmin socio-political climate that prevailed during the hey days of Dravidian movement. Immediately, many pounced on the BJP leader saying that he trivilaized the plight of Jews by comparing them to a privilege community on top of the caste hierarchy.

This article does not go into the merits of whether Tamil Brahmins were persecuted by Dravidian Stockists or not, like the Jews were driven out by Nazis. However, this article will show how Dravidian Stockists have been mainstreaming hate against the community through high octane propaganda just like the Nazis unleashed against the Jews.

The ‘Thread’ Jibe And Other Sly Jibes

A journalist from The News Minute (TNM) named Balakrishna Ganeshan spewed casteist venom against Tamil Brahmins. Alleged ‘neutral’ political commentator Dr. Sumanth Raman had said that while millions of genuinely disadvantaged need the benefits of reservation, the current reservation system was exploited by those who are socio-economically well off! He had put a series of tweets to one Soumitra Pathare supporting Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota.

Reacting to one tweet of Sumanth Raman, The News Minute journalist Balakrishna Ganeshan put out a pun intended tweet saying “This thread (andha thread ah thaan sonna)” referring to the poonool/janeu (sacred thread) worn by Brahmins.

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan himself had abused a woman journalist by invoking her Tamil Brahmin identity.

Another journalist if The News Minute Bharathy Singaravel is known for peddling hate against Brahmins. She once used the word “Paarpaan” – a derogatory and genocidal term used against Tamil Brahmins – to call out the Brahmin identity of a defence policy analyst.

In another tweet, she wrote that Tamil freedom fighter Vanchinathan who is a Brahmin and killed British Collector Robert Ashe disgusts her.

Rangarajan Mohan Kumaramangalam, the President of Tamil Nadu unit of All Indian Professional Congress took a jibe at the Brahmin community stereotyping them as a ‘shy lot’.

The Pastoral Community Jibe

A seminar was held recently by the Department of History at New College in Chennai under the name Dravidian Historical Research Center. Karunanandan, the alleged professor, spewed venom on the Brahmin caste and the Rig Veda throughout his speech to prove his claim that the Aryan Dravidam race exists in India.

He said, “You are a pastoral community that moves from place to place and does not practise idol worship, but we are not nomads and do practise idol worship. The enemies of the Rig Veda were those who lived inside a fort and did agriculture in India. I wonder who the people that lived in forts and practised agriculture when Aryans came to this land as mentioned in Rig Veda. It should be us, the Dravidians. Should we consider this uncultured, nomadic, pastoral people as the son of soils? Certainly not. Aryans wore animal skin clothing, whereas we wore wool clothing. They (Aryans) only eat Yava, which is barley. Only in the later Vedic period they came to know about rice, which was mentioned as Grihi in Rig Veda. But, people who originated in this land were familiar with rice and wheat because they learned the practise from the Indus Valley Civilization.”

He stated, “Our people believed the words of Brahmins who claimed that they could do anything we wanted with the Vedas. The Kings believed it first, then the common people. This is where we got caught in their web. According to Vaishnavam, doing trade and business is a bad profession; crossing borders and travelling across seas is a sin; and higher caste people are forbidden from doing agriculture. But these are the identities of Dravidians. Previously, they (Brahmins) were afraid of losing their caste if they crossed the sea. However, they are now doing it for monetary gain. If you give them money, they’ll do anything. Now, even their god has crossed the seas. We oppose Sanskrit because it considers working people’s profession to be disgusting work. They wrote all of the laws in Sanskrit but prohibited ordinary people from learning it. Sanskrit could only be studied by Brahmins. Only by understanding and becoming aware of this you will achieve true freedom.”

Another prominent Dravidian Stockist is Dr. K. Kantharaj who is known for his hate-speech against Brahmins. Calling Brahmins derogatarily as “Paapara Paya”, he goes on to say in an interview “Who are you? You are an Aryan. An immigrant. What is the connection between you and this country? You were rearing cows for a living in Central Asia. How did you come here? You and your religion do not belong here. It is there in history. You came into this country riding cows. You are today claiming this to be your country?”.

“You better go to your own country. Go there. There only you (Tamil Brahmins) were thrashed by Chengiz Khan and Taimur. You came here whimpering.”, he says in that interview.

Calling For Genocide

DMK spokesperson Rajiv Gandhi posted on his Twitter advocating genocide against the Tamil Brahmin community.

A brazen call for genocide was given by ‘Periyar’ E.V. Ramaswamy Naicker in 1973 at Karikudi, Tamil Nadu.

Sharing this speech snippet on his Twitter, A-Z commentator Sumanth Raman drew the attention of the people living in the rest of India to understand the hate peddled against Tamil Brahmins in Tamil Nadu.

He also added that the genocide did not happen thanks to Indira Gandhi, and AIADMK supremos M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa.

Responding to this tweet, DMK spokesperson Rajiv Gandhi wrote “Had only the Shudras carried out Periyar’s instructions, they wouldn’t have to fight with people like you today to get justice, employment, rights, education, employment and equality. At 3% you are still encroaching a lot of the space.”

Earlier in December 2021, Savukku Shankar, a DMK sympathizer and a ‘Periyar’ist, who is known for being a motor mouth posted on his social media promoting genocide against Tamil Brahmins.

Taking to both Twitter and Facebook, he had written, “If it is justified to trouble Muslims today, because of how Muslim kings had troubled us in the past, then why haven’t we started troubling Brahmins for the troubles they have given us in the past?” The post was deleted from Facebook after it was reported, as it went against the platform’s community guidelines. However, it is still available on Savukku Shankar’s twitter.

Targeted Harassment

Mr. Arivumathi, a mainstream Dravidian Stockist lyricist while speaking in a literary event held in Chennai, said ”The name of my village starts with ”Su”. It means ”Sudethriya Gramam”. It was a grant of land, typically by a king or a landlord in India, particularly to Brahmins as Agraharam. That is my hometown, Su. Keenanoor near Vridhachalam in Cuddalore district. In that place Brahmins were the only rulers, they owned about 1500 acres. In those lands, we, the Most backward Caste and SC Caste whose only purpose was to serve them.

He further added ”They were toiling for them by Grazing Goats and Cows without slippers, they heaped goods for them. They were being crushed. Slowly due to Father Periyar who shone Light on our town, some enlightened youth went inside the Brahmin’s Agraharam. They threw dried fish heads, bones of goat inside via rooftops. The Brahmin women folk, who avoid seeing shudras faces, would go to Mannimuthar River for morning bath. There, our boys would dig holes, then put cactus inside those holes. When their Ladies went to bath, they would fall into the trap hole.”

He then concluded ”The Brahmins realised that ‘Tamils’ have awakened and under these circumstances, they can’t live in this town anymore. This is how we have driven out every single Brahmin. This is my Dravidian movement”.

Kannabiran Ravishankar who is known for distorting Hindu scriptures and fomenting hatred against Tamil Brahmin community with vile casteist abuses, has made several derogatroy and vulgar remarks with his tweets having foul language objectifying Tamil Brahmin women. He had even used private photos of Tamil brahmin families including that of children to spew the Dravidian ‘anti-Brahmin’ vitriol.

Cutting The Sacred Thread

Dravidian Stockist Suba Veerapandian, who runs a fringe outfit Dravida Iyakka Tamilar Peravai, hreatened to cut the poonool (sacred thread) of Badri Seshadri (publisher of Kizhakku Padhippagam) for his comments about DMK founder Annadurai. While addressing a crowd from stage adorned by DMK MPs and Ministers said, “Poonool (janeu) which was hiding so far has come out and given courage to Badri to call Anna an idiot. Remember that if the arrogance continues, the poonool will be cut.”

He said, “We were kind enough to continue allowing them (the Brahmins) to hold public office while we were in power. Do not test our patience.”

Vanni Arasu, the Deputy General Secretary of VCK warned that when Thirumavalavan becomes the leader of Tamil Nadu, a rule will be brought to ban the wearing of ‘poonool’ (sacred thread/ janeu).

All these speeches do not remain speeches. It spills over to the ground. In 2020, The temple priest of Varadaraja Perumal Temple of Arasar Kovil near Maduranthakam in Chengalpattu district was attacked and his poonool (sacred thread) was cut off by two Christian men.

In 2018, ten Bramhin men were attacked and their sacred threads cut off in Chennai’s Triplicane area (an area where Brahmin population is concentrated).

Propaganda To Vilify

The DMK through its social media handles has been posting comic posts titled ‘Dravidathaal Vaazhgirom’ narrating the party’s origins and the so-called ‘Dravidian Movement’.

In one such post that was posted on 14 February 2023, the comic story board attacks the Tamil Brahmin community by stereotyping them and peddling propaganda against them.

This comic strip was shared by the DMK IT wing with the caption “The mob, sanctifying their birth and living in obscurity, conspired to destroy the unity among non-Brahmins!”.

Isai, the State Deputy Secretary of the DMK’s IT wing, had spread hatred against Brahmins and misinformation about EWS (Economically Weaker Section) reservation on his Twitter handle.

The image posted by the DMK IT Wing Deputy Secretary showed a person dressed as a Brahmin with sacred thread (Janeu) and having “Thirunamam” on his forehead, sucking juice from his own glass as well as the glass that belongs to OBCs. The tweet was intended to imply that Brahmins are taking the reservation meant for OBCs following the implementation of the Central government’s 10% EWS reservation.

In yet another rabid attack on Brahmins by the DMK, the party’s IT Cell members and sympathizers on social media have been putting out vitriolic posts against Brahmins with the hashtag #நூலிபான்கள் (‘Noolibangal’ – ‘Nool’ in Tamil means thread denoting the ‘poonool’ or ‘janeu’), equating Brahmins with Talibans.

In Jai Bhim, a film which seems to have been taken to coax the DMK, Suriya can be seen subtly spreading canards about Brahmins. Actor MS Bhaskar who is shown as a Brahmin lawyer (Sankaran) uttering ‘Sivaya Namaha’ quite often, approaches Suriya (Chandru) in the corridors of the court to apparently appreciate Suriya.

Here is how the interaction goes:

Sankaran: Chandru.. Very good ya. This haebus corpus case would’ve been dismissed in 2 minutes. You quoted the Rajan case! Sivaya Namaha! That was a wise move! The case has now come in your favour.

Chandru: No sir. I feel I’m handling this case wrong.

Sankaran: No no no. I’m telling you. You’re on the right path. 

Chandru: No sir. If you’re being so positive, then there must be something wrong that I am doing. 

In the above interaction, the character Chandru implies that Brahmins are nefarious and not to be trusted.

If in cinema, they are made objects of ridicule, the Dravidian Stockist literature is filled with Nazi-level propaganda that would wake Joseph Goebells from the dead.

Senthilvel, who also runs his own Tamil YouTube channel called ‘Tamil Kelvi’ resorted to spreading fake news and caste hatred claiming that the teacher accused of sexual harassment at PSBB school was an ‘Iyer’.

“In social media, it is being said that the accused teacher is Rajagopalan. Rajagopalan Iyer. The person named Rajagopalan Iyer has behaved in this manner.”, he says in his video at 4:44. He keeps repeating that the teacher’s name is Rajagopalan Iyer again and again throughout the video. However, the truth is that the accused teacher did not belong to the Brahmin community.

Shalin Maria Lawrence who identifies herself as a ‘Dalit Christian’ had once alleged that her wifi connection stopped working becasuse her ‘Brahmin neighbour’ messed with the cables which was passing through the latter’s house. She said that since the ‘Brahmin neighbour’ did not want the WiFi connection running through her house she tampered with the cables because of which her internet stopped working.

Who Will Speak Up?

Despite all the vilification, harassment and venom spewed, the Tamil Brahmin community, especially those who are economically weaker have just gone about their work. They haven’t even been able to organize themselves and demand the implementation of EWS quota. Sometimes they have to put up with members of their own ilk from privileged urban background going woke like TM Krishna, who for the sake of self-aggrandizement go about virtue-signaling with lofty talks and intellectual gymnastics. Ironically, it is these privileged, rich, woke, champagne socialists who throw around their weight wherever they go while the Vedic Pandits, Soundis and Sivachariyars become the target of hate for no reason

The Tamil Brahmin community have been made the punching bag by the politically powerful elite non-Brahmin communities (Mudaliar, Naidu, Reddy, Pillai and Chettiar) despite purging them away from corridors of power. Yet these non-Brahmin elites (Dravidian Stock) whip up passions among Other Backward Class (OBC) and Scheduled Castes (SC) by othering the Tamil Brahmin in order to cover up their feudal history of oppressing the downtrodden.

Coimbatore Govt Law College Students Protest Against Mgmt For Suspending Fellow Students And Slapping Police Cases

Students from the Government Law College, Coimbatore have been protesting as their fellow students have been suspended by the college management allegedly on flimsy grounds. Despite repeated attempts to reach out to higher authorities, their demands have not been met, allege students.

A student named Haritha had completed her undergraduate law degree in May 2022. She applied for her Transfer Certificate (TC) for doing LLM. After 3 months, when she had asked for the TC, she was told by college authorities that they don’t have the TC and blamed her for not submitting the TC application.

Sheik Mohammed, the husband of Haritha is also from the same college in third year BA., LLB. He on behalf of his wife demanded her TC from the college management. But he was told by the management that they don’t have the TC and that it should be with them (the couple).

The couple also sent a complaint letter to Chief Minister cell that management authorities have misplaced the TC. Meanwhile, the college management had filed a complaint that the student Haritha and Sheik are quarrelling with them.

After one month, an enquiry committee was set up with Sheik deposed before the committe. But the committee has submitted report stating that enquiry is still pending.

Sheik Mohammed later filed a writ in the Madras High Court that there is no connection between him and the enquiry committee. The college management filed that they need 1 month to look into the matter. They also suspended Haritha and Sheik Mohammed until the case comes to a closure.

After 20 days of suspension order, the college principal filed a complaint on Sheik Mohammed saying that he attacked the college authorities and gave death threats to them. The Police filed FIR under IPC section 353, IPC section 506 (1), and IPC section 109.

The college authorities however denied providing the CCTV footage of the particular day saying that the CCTV was not working at that time.

While speaking to the reporters, a student studying 4th year LLB., in Coimbatore Law College said ”The College Management should withdraw the cases filed against two students. They should also cancel the suspension order of two students. These are our demands.”

Hindu Victims Of Hate Crime

For decades before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections Hindus were blamed for killing minorities (read Muslims), and during Modi1 the term lynching caught on. What is ignored is hate crime by Muslims, its nature and extent.

Based on published media reports this compilation gives instances when Muslims killed Hindus on issues like road scuffle, marrying a Muslim girl, marriage procession in front of mosque, cattle smuggling etc.

The purpose of this compilation is not to provoke the followers of Indian Religions into taking revenge but only to put matters in perspective.

This compilation is inspired by the ground reports of Swati Goel of Swarajyamag. Maximum care is taken in compiling data, errors if any are inadvertent and unintended. If you find errors please write in with your view and published source.

The format is simple – title refers to event and year, brief information about why killed and data source. Period covered 2017-2019. The first three killings pertain to earlier periods but were very disturbing.

1) Guru Govind Singhji, 1708

Severely stabbed by two Pathan boys.

Guruji reached Nanded in August 1707. Banda Bahadur was sent to Punjab to chastise Vazir Khan of Sirhind. On the other hand Vazir Khan was also plotting against the Guru’s life. Two Pathan boys, who were in the service of the Guru, were set on him. One day finding him alone, they severely stabbed him in August 1708. He knew his end had come. On October 7, 1708 Guruji walked into a funeral pyre that he set for himself.

3) Women And Children Burnt In Godhra, 2002

“Do note that, according to India Today magazine, the Muslim mob came equipped with crowbars to pry open the closed shutters of the S-6 coach, a reserved women’s coach, which is also in keeping with known modus operandi, to cause maximum offense. Mohammad H Kalota, Salim A G Sheikh, Abdul R A M Ghantia, Farroukh Bhana and Haji Bilal, were the five Congress members/supporters at Godhra.”

4) Ramalingam Murdered For Opposing Conversions To Islam, 2019

Police suspect that the murder could be a sequel to heated arguments Ramalingam had with members of the Muslim community on issues like conversion and Hindu-Muslim relationship at Adi Dravida street on Tuesday morning.

“The 11 accused include Mohamed Riaz, Mohamed Hassan Kuthoos, Mohamed Farooq, Mohamed Rizwan, Mohamed Taufiq, Mohamed Ibrahim, Tauhid Basha and Nizam Ali.”

5) Dhruv Tyagi Murder 2019

“Had it not been unavoidable, Dhruv Raj Tyagi wouldn’t have ventured out either. But his daughter complained of severe migraine. Around 1 am on Saturday, he took her to a nearby hospital on his scooty. The rowdies stabbed him to death. The Moti Nagar police have arrested the alleged killers, Mohammad Alam and his father Jahangir Khan.”

6) Three Sadhus Brutally Killed For Opposing Cow Slaughter, August 2018

“On the morning of 15 August 2018, three resident sadhus at the centuries-old Shiva temple were found in a pool of blood, their hands and legs tied to their cots and multiple stab wounds on their necks and other body parts.”

“The state police later arrested five men from the adjoining ‘kasaayi mohalla’ (butchers’ colony). Those arrested- identified as Salman, Nadeem, Shahzad, Najeem and Jabbar – said they carried out the barbaric murders in revenge.”

7) Cattle Thieves Shoot Dead Ratan Singh, April 2019

Rakbar Khan and his aide Aslam were found by villagers taking cows through the fields on 21 July night in Lalawandi village of Ramgar tehsil of Alwar.

Controversy erupted after Rakbar Khan died in police custody the same night.

8) Muzaffarnagar Riots Started When Sachin And Gaurav Were Murdered, 2013

“A local court in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar pronounced seven persons guilty, for beating to death two boys in Kawal village in 2013. This tragic incident had triggered communal riots across Muzaffarnagar and Shamli.”

“The additional district and sessions judge Himanshu Bhatnagar convicted Muzammil, Mujassim, Furkan, Nadeem, Janangir, Afzal and Ikbal for killing Gaurav and Sachin on August 27, 2013, and rioting, according to district prosecution counsel Rajiv Sharma.”

9) Prashant Pujary Murder Mangalore, 2015

Pujary opposed cattle theft and slaughter. “Mangalore police have arrested 4 more men who they claim have direct involvement in the murder of the Bajrang Dal activist Prashanth Poojary. The arrested people have been identified as Mohammed Sharief, Mohammed Kavoor, Mohammed Mustafa and Kabir.”

10) Minor Girl Goes Missing, Mumbai Police Refuse To Add Accused Name, 2019

Dalit Hindu girl kidnapped in Mumbai. Police did not add the name of the accused, Akhtar Sheikh, in the FIR despite the girl’s mother naming him as a suspect repeatedly.

11) Sanjay Kumar Killed For Inter-Faith Marriage, 2019

Sanjay Kumar, a Dalit Hindu, paid the price for marrying a Muslim woman and refusing to convert to Islam. Killed by wife’s family in Haryana’s Faridabad district.

“The charge sheet (which Swarajya has accessed) has named four accused – Fajruddin, Saleem, Saleem’s uncle Ali Mohammad and Saleem’s neighbour Sumit for abetting the crime.”

12) Khayala Ground Report Killing Of 3 Hindus, January 2019

“Veerpal (41), wife Sunita (35) and the couple’s 18-year-old son Aakash have succumbed to the injuries. Neighbours say they found out his name, Mohammad Azad, only through the media.”

13) Maharashtra Cop Killed Whilst Trying To Stop Truck With Bullocks, January 2019

“Sunday night at Khambada Vani Naka on the Nagpur-ChandrapurRoad Constable Prakash Meshram, tried to halt a truck carrying 12 bullocks. Two people in the truck, identified as Imtiaz Ahmed Fayyaz Ahmed and Mohammad Raza Abdul Jabbar Qureshi, both 19 years of age, were arrested.”

14) Dalit Hindu girl Kidnapped, Converted, Married, 2018

Dalit Hindu minor girl kidnapped. “Apart from refusing to mention Saddam Ansari’s name in the first information report (FIR), the police also did not add the mandatory POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) and SC/ST Act in the original FIR.”

“Swarajya spoke to the missing girl’s father Dayanand Singh, 44, a resident of Dharmpura village in Nagina tehsil of district Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh. It was only when the police retrieved call details of the girl two months after she went missing that it emerged that it wasn’t Jai Prakash Gupta but one Danish Hussain who had taken her away.”

15) Ten Year Old Kidnapped, Taken To A Madrassa And Raped, May 2018

“Geeta (as the minor girl is being referred to in the media to protect her identity) was kidnapped on 21 April and kept in a madrassa overnight, where she was allegedly raped by a 17-year-old student. She was recovered the next day after a police raid. Five days after the police arrested the boy, they also held a maulvi (cleric), in whose room the girl was confined.”

16) Ankit Saxena, 2018

Ankit had a Muslim girlfriend. Girl’s family were against the relationship.

17) Engineer Held Captive, Raped By Accused Seroj Khan In Mumbai, 2018

A 27-year-old engineer was held captive and sexually assaulted for two-and-a-half months by an Andheri resident, who also tonsured her head after she refused to marry him. The woman finally managed to escape to a relative’s house in Pune last week and lodged a complaint, after which the accused, Sayyed Amir Hussain alias Seroj Khan (27), was arrested from his Milat Nagar flat in Andheri (West) on Monday.

18) Junaid Khan Lynching, 2018

“In its order granting bail to one of the accused in Junaid Khan’s murder, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has said that the initial dispute between the victims and the accused was “only regarding the seat sharing and abuses in the name of castes and nothing more”.”

19) Muslim Man Drags Delhi Dentist Out Of Home, Kills Him In Front Of Son, 2016

“The provocation for this brutal murder was a scuffle Dr Pankaj Narang had got involved in when a rashly driven bike brushed against him in front of his house in Krishna Park colony. He had snapped at the two bikers and asked them to drive carefully which led to an argument and a fracas.”

I recharged my batteries to compile this. When Kamal Went Whimpering To Jayalalithaa For Virumaandi After Krishnasamy Made Him Kneel

While campaigning for Congress candidate EVKS Elangovan ahead of the Erode East bypolls, Kamal Haasan made a veiled reference targeting late AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa stating that she created hurdles for his film Vishwaroopam.

He siad ”When I took Vishwaroopam, an ‘ammayar’ created hurdles in its release and ridiculed me. Then, ‘Kalaingar’ (M Karunanidhi) called me over the phone and asked whether I needed any help and not to fear. I told him, I will take care of it myself as it is not a national issue. Even the current Chief Minister MK Stalin called me over phone and assured help,”.

However, he has been called out by many like senior journalists ‘Thuglak’ Ramesh and Mani for peddling lies and denigrating the late Jayalalithaa even after her death, for the sake of votes.

While many called his statement as an attempt to woo DMK for securing a seat in 2024 Lok Sabha elections, his statement about Jayalalithaa has opened the pandora box revealing his past shenanigans.

When Krishnasamy Made Kamal Go Bonkers: The Sandiyar – Virumaandi Saga

Kamal Haasan starrer Virumaandi is today known as a movie that spoke of capital punishment with the film narrated in a Roshomon-esque style. However, this film of Kamal Haasan too was mired in controversies. Initially, the film was titled ‘Sandiyar’. In Tamil, the word Sandiyar refers to a glorified ruffian and is often construed to belonging to the dominant Thevar caste.

With the film being set in Theni district (an area where Thevar population is concentrated), and the plot revolving around Thevar castes, it caught the attention of Puthiya Tamilagam party’s chief Dr. K. Krishnasamy.

As the initial posters and promos of the film showed Kamal having caste identities and holding billhooks, Dr. Krishnasamy argued that the film valorises the Thevars with whom the Dalits have been perpetually at loggerheads often resulting in communal violence.

Dr. Krishnasamy charged that the film threatens to bring back the ‘aruval’ (sickle) culture which has claimed many lives in Tamil Nadu charged and threatened to disrupt the shooting.

Kamal appealed for police protection for his film unit, and had even paid them for it. But the actor was asked to pack up and leave. Then Theni Superintendent of Police Amalraj told Kamal that there would be law and order issues if the shooting commenced and returned the money offered for police protection. During a press meet in Chennai, when Jayalalithaa was asked whether police protection would be given to the film crew for shooting, she stated that it wasn’t the job of the police. Following this, Kamal later approached then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

What transpired between the two remains a secret but after the negotiations held between the two sides, Kamal was made to change the title of the film to Virumaandi.

Even today, there is a clip available on YouTube in which a seemingly drunk Kamal Haasan goes on a rant upset about the controversy surrounding the film name, courtesy Dr. Krishnasamy.

Kamal Prostrating Before Jayalalithaa

Kamal’s production house Raaj Kamal Films later published an advertisement in leading dailies praising and thanking Jayalalithaa for her advice.

“With the ripening of time, and realizing my situation, I on behalf of Raaj Kamal Films International artists, technicians and workers heartfully thank Jayalalithaa for offering a just advice. With love, Kamal Haasan”, read the ad.

This incident was recollected and shared on social media by Dr. Krishnasamy’s son Dr. Shyam Krishnasamy of Puthiya Tamilagam.

He tweeted ”Let’s keep aside the support given by Karunanidhi to Viswaroopam. But when Kamal Haasan did ‘Sandiyathanam’ (indulging in nefarious activities), did he forget that it was the ‘ammaiyaar’ who gave ‘just advice’ and saved him and his film? It is not just the movie name that was changed, Kamal’s sting too!

Much waters have flown down the Theni. Kamal Haasan, who today is badmouthing about the late Jayalalithaa kept his tail tucked between his legs when the lady was around.

It Is High Time The Stray Dog Menace Is Culled

A viral video in which a child was mauled to death by a pack of dogs in broad daylight has sent chills across the nation.

In recent past, we have seen few other incidents, where either a kid or adult being attacked by Rottweiler or other breeds of dogs. Dog menace is going unchecked across the country and some legislations bars the authority from taking steps to curb the menace.

Who should we hold responsible for such mishaps? Should we hold people feeding stray dogs as culpable for such deaths?

Many two-wheeler riders have made several complaints in social media and other platforms about how scared they are while riding motorcycles in the night in streets of Chennai as pack of rabid dogs chase them. Some get attacked while some lose control of the vehicle while speeding away.

Few years back a motorist lost his life after few dogs appeared in front of him out of nowhere and started chasing him, he lost control of his bike, fell down, got injured and died. Many such incidents have been reported. In Madurai, stray dogs attacked 6 people in the same area in a single day in January 2021. The stray dog menace at IIT Madras is not just being a nuisance to residents but also pose a threat to the wildlife in the forest.

It is more difficult when you have elderly people in pillion when dogs chase the bike. The mental agony one goes through at that instance is unexplainable. Loss of life due to such freak accidents can be avoided, if stray dog menace is handled effectively by civic authorities and NGOs.

Animal Birth Control measures and anti-rabies injections is only a part of the solution. When the authorities free the dogs in the same locality, it’s not easy to trace dogs in every nook and corner to make the project effective. Some harsh measures in handling canine menace is the need of the day. Rabid dogs need to be separated and culled so that they don’t infect others by civic authorities. Just like how flu infected birds are culled for the larger good.

Responsibility should also come down to the individual level. Those who feed strays should take ownership. Pet dog owners should ensure that the dog’s mouth is covered with a muzzle whenever they step out for a stroll. In case, a mishap is reported the pet dog owner or the individual(s) feeding rabid strays should be penalized.

Ofcourse dogs too have a life and need to be given care but that can’t be the reason for justifying the roaming of rabid strays which are lethal. Human life is much more valuable than a canine’s. Life of citizen should be held sacrosanct while drawing up rules for animal safety and welfare. The government should stop listening or ignore arm twisting tactics of organisation like PETA and come up with human safety plans against rabid animals on the streets.

‘Kamal Haasan Lies For Political Gain’: Thuglak Ramesh Calls Out Actor For Peddling Lies About Jayalalithaa

On 20 February 2023, part-time politician Kamal Haasan of Makkal Needhi Maiam addressed a large gathering in Erode canvassing votes for Congress candidate EVKS Elangovan. He recalled how in 2013 the then Chief Minister the late J. Jayalalithaa allegedly troubled him during the release of his movie ‘Vishwaroopam’.

He stated that “The lady made me stumble and ridiculed me in 2013. Karunanidhi and the current Chief Minister contacted me and asked me if I needed any help. I replied to them that this is not a national issue, and I will handle it. I did it without bowing to the pressure.”

Kamal had alleged that the agitation was orchestrated by then ruling party AIADMK under Jayalalithaa of harboring personal vengeance against him. He also claimed that the AIADMK wanted him to fall at their leader’s feet to get relief from the issue.

Responding to these allegations made by Kamal in the campaign, senior journalist ‘Thuglak’ Ramesh said ”He is trying to coax DMK and its leader MK Stalin in the hope of securing a constituency to contest for the next Lok Sabha election. What he said was utter lie. As someone who had directly involved in this issue before, I am shocked that Kamal Haasan has stooped low by lying for political gain. Already he had jumped to this side by saying ‘maiyyam’. He has already proved his party has no ideology of its own and by supporting DMK-Congress alliance. He hasn’t been able be decisive like Seeman. He has escaped to this side for political gain. Because, only his last film (Vikram produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin) has been able to repay his loans. Nobody watches Bigg Boss these days. I don’t know if he is harbouring wishes to become MP. But for that, he shouldn’t speak lies like this.”

“Why did Vishwaroopan face problems? Tamil Nadu government didn’t ban it. Islamic organizations threatened a bug protest if the film was screened. I ask my respectable friend, the head of Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi Jawahirullah should come out and talk about this with conscience. Many Islamic Organizations including Thowheed Jamaadh had announced to protest against this film saying that the film contains anti-Muslim scenes. Should a government allow the screening of a film despite knowing that there will be law and order issue. Is his film of such national importance to be released despite law and order issues? He had exclaimed to run away from the country. I know the full story of what happened then.”

Ramesh added that when the ruling AIADMK party was being blamed he met the then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat and discussed with her about this.

“I have also documented this incident in my book. She then arranged for an impromptu press conference and cleared the matter. Samathuva Makkal Katchi leader Sarathkumar who was the then leader of South Indian Actors Association was also well aware about this. Then Kamal Haasan agreed to censor the sensitive scenes, so that the film got released.”

He concluded that Kamal Haasan’s statement degrading the then CM Jayalalitha after her untimely demise signifies that he would stoop to any low for political gain.

DMK IT Wing Stoops To New Low, Targets ADMK Leader EPS With Crass Sexual Innuendo

With the poll date nearing for the Erode East by-polls are nearing, the both the AIADMK and DMK leaders have been taking potshots at each other on the ground as well as online.

After the AIADMK decided to contest this by-election, ensuring the victory of the Congress from Erode East has become a prestige issue for the ruling DMK. Hence, the DMK has been leaving no stone unturned with senior Ministers, MLAs and MPs hitting the ground. Bribing for votes has reached mew levels with voters being lured with cash, food, goodies like cooker, sight seeing etc. Apart from this, the DMK has put in place detention camps where people are housed for the entire day with food being served and money given at the end of the day.

In light of this abuse of people through money and muscle power, AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami while campaigning in Erode East on 16 February said “You (referring to MK Stalin) say you have people’s support. If that is true, if you are man enough, let the voters who are confined in the temporary sheds out and then campaign.”

In response to this, on 20 February 2023, the official Twitter handle of DMK IT Wing put out a tweet degrading the former CM Eddapadi Palaniswami by calling him as ”Masculinity Researcher”.

The tweet had a picture of him prostrating before V.K Sasikala.

The tweet reads ”One person has joined the line of people who go from town to town and book rooms in lodges to research about masculinity. He stands on the road and questions about manhood. It is evident from his body language that an angry man will have nothing.”

This derogatory tweet from oficial Twitter Handle of DMK IT wing has made people cring in disgust.

How Communist CM Pinarayi Vijayan Is Living A Bourgeoisie Life On Public Money

The steep hike in taxes including that on petrol, diesel and alcohol has hit the common man where it hurts the most. The state of Kerala and the ruling communist dispensation seems like an episode straight out of black mirror. In an Orwellian manner the government is running an ‘animal farm’ feasting on the resources of the common man.

Kerala is going through a bleak phase aggravated by worsening social and financial conditions. The debt level of the state stands at record levels and the state is also witnessing stagnation in human development indices due to lack of investments in this sector. Turning to a pure consumeristic state without any major industries or agricultural activities, the state heavily relays on taxes on alcohol and petroleum products. But the ruling dispensation of Kerala seems unbothered. Like feudalistic landlords munching on the resources of poor serves, the Communist party is exploiting the common man of the state. While the state is suffering, the CM and his entourage is indulging in lavish wastage of public resources. 

The Extravagant Foreign Trips

Pinarayi Vijayan had taken 19 foreign trips after assuming the office of the Chief Minister till 2023. But among these only details of 5 of them are available. As per the sources, ₹32.58 lakh was spent on his official trips to UAE in 2016, USA in 2018, Japan in 2019 and two trips to USA in 2022 for medical treatment. Expenditure on the other 14 trips is not revealed yet. In all together the Chief Minister and the Ministers of Kerala have made 85 foreign trips over the past 6.5 years of LDF governance.

Of these, while CM Vijayan tops the list with 15 foreign visits, Kadakampally Surendran is the second with 13 and E P Jayarajan third with 7 foreign visits. The CM and team travelled in Europe for 3 days each in Netherlands and Switzerland, and a day each in France and UK, in May 2019. The CM visited UAE 6 times. M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the CM, had actively joined all these trips, leading to later controversies and allegations. M Sivasankar is currently under scanner regarding gold smuggling and corruption allegations during the time he worked as personnel secretary to CM. The CM visited the USA for 4 times. Other foreign places the CM visited include Bahrain, Japan and South Korea.

It is not about his visits in official capacity that has raised eyebrows but his visits in personal capacity and footing the bill on public. There is a writ petition pending in High Court that has put these trips under the scanner. The petitioner, in his writ petition, alleged the Vijayan had, for his trips which were ‘personal’ in nature – These trips were to USA and UAE in different time periods. The CM’s trips had also attracted criticism as his family members also were along with him-using money from public funds. Last year, Pinarayi visited several European countries with his wife, daughter and grandson. There were also criticisms over on a foreign trip amidst the state’s acute financial crunch. But the foreign trip saga of Pinarayi Vijayan is only tip of the iceberg of wastage of public money undertaken by CM and his entourage. 

The Never-Ending Convoy And Security Cover

Last year the government bought a dozen new vehicles for use of CM and other ministers. The exchequer has already spent ₹4 crore on these purchases despite a blanket ban on purchase of new vehicles owing to financial crisis.  CM tops the list in the purchase of new vehicles. Recently, the finance department had approved ₹88.7 lakh for buying a Kia Carnival (8AT Limousine plus 7) car and three Innova Crysta cars for CM’s use. The saga of never-ending convoy is aggravated by the fact that heightened security cover is provided to the CM which is largely hurting the common man. It is not only the purchases which hurts the public but also the heightened security. It is uncertain why the CM scares the public so much that he boosted his security. The boosted security is comparable to what India provides to visiting heads of states. The boosted security has resulted in violation of basic human rights, like the cops recently taking a man into preventive custody, leaving him with no means to take his mother for a cancer examination. School children stuck in traffic, cancer patient stranded and ban on buying medicines etc has become a common incident in Kerala.

Public Money For Political Purposes

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had come out against the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front government’s anti- Citizenship (Amendment) Act [CAA] advertisement on the front page of national dailies and said spending public money for political campaigning is “thoroughly undesirable.” “…public money is being used to campaign against a law which has been passed by Parliament. Sounds a bit strange to me.,” he stated at that time. The Kerala government had published in three national dailies that the State had taken “bold initiatives to address the apprehensions of the public” and had stayed the National Population Register drive that could lead to the NRC (National Register of Citizens). The State government had on August 7, 2017 published an advertisement in the national capital that the State had one of the lowest crime rates in the country, to counter a campaign by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh against the CPI(M) in Kerala over political killings. The usage of public money for political purpose by the communist government is an unethical act considering vulnerable financial position of the state of Kerala.

Immoral Spending Spree Amidst Financial Crunch

Kerala is in an extremely bad financial situation. The debt of Kerala government has climbed to almost ₹4,00,000 crore and small Kerala has surpassed most of the Indian states in this debt situation. The Debt/GDP ratio is at 37% and is worsening dad by dad. The recent budget unveiled by Kerala also points to this bleak and precarious financial situation of the state. The steep hike in taxes including that on petrol, diesel and alcohol has hit the common man where it hurts the most. The state of Kerala and the ruling communist dispensation seems like an episode straight out of black mirror. In an Orwellian manner the government is running an ‘animal farm’ feasting on the resources of the common man. The Kerala is staring at bleak times ahead due to its precarious financial situation, the spending spree by CM amidst this only points to unethical model of governance which is harmful to citizens.

Erode Formula: ₹8000, Meat, Mettur Trip, Detention Camps With Food And Entertainment; DMK Takes Tirumangalam Formula To Next Level

The amount of money and gift hampers distributed, as well as the new innovative way of confining voters in locked camps and keeping them inside for the entire day, discovered by DMK minister Senthil Balaji, has caused the famous ‘Thirumangalam formula,’ founded by another DMK veteran MK Alagiri, to bow its head in shame.

A few days ago, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai has written a complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner of India regarding the distribution of widespread money for the Erode East by-election and “inaction” by the state election commission on a complaint regarding “blatant abuse of power by DMK govt” in the Erode East by-poll.

He alleged that the DMK members distributed 2 kgs of meat and ₹1000 per voter per day, with a ₹5000 incentive if the voter sat continuously in the designated place for 20 days.

In addition to the BJP, the AIADMK has petitioned the Madras High Court, requesting that the Election Commission take appropriate action to ensure a free and fair election in the Erode East constituency. Despite the opposition parties’ complaints, the distribution of money and gift hampers has not stopped, but has increased as the election approaches.

Despite videos of DMK cadres distributing money and gift hampers going viral on social media, there has been no concrete action taken.

Political analyst Savukku Shankar claims that as the election dates near, the DMK has increased the cash for votes from ₹2000 per day to ₹8000 per vote.

In addition to ₹8000 per vote, DMK cadres distributed 1 kg of meat, groceries, ₹1000 per head, and biryani on a daily basis with a focus on the poor and lower middle class in the constituency. These lower middle class and poor residents of Erode East seat are primarily from the Arundathiyar community, who were regarded as the AIADMK’s primary voter base. DMK has therefore been spending money like there is no tomorrow in the constituency to win the support of the Arundhathiyar community.

Erode Formula

Opposition parties claim that, in addition to distributing cash for votes, voters in the Erode East Assembly constituency have been confined to camps by DMK men who serve them food and give them cash every day for not attending the opposition AIADMK candidate’s election campaign.

According to reports, recently released movies such as Varisu and Thunivu were screened using projectors to keep people engaged inside the camp. Apart from film screenings, Tamil folk dances such as ‘Karagattam’ were performed inside the camp. According to political analyst Savukku Shankar, one of the Karagattam shows inside the camp was abruptly stopped by the ladies inside the camp because the show became very obscene. These images of ‘Karagattam’ inside the DMK camp have gone viral on social media.

“The ruling DMK men have erected shamianas at all booths and confined the voters who are served food and given cash daily. The Election Commission of India should take immediate steps to remove the shamianas and free the voters,” AIADMK former State Minister C Ve Shanmugam said. While the ruling DMK men met voters and garnered votes, the AIADMK were not allowed to canvass, he said.

Videos of DMK cadres distributing cookers in Erode East constituency have gone viral on social media since the morning (February 20).

In one viral video, a lady who received a cooker from the DMK said, “We got two cookers, one for myself and one for my brother-in-law. My neighbour who received the cooker had the 84th token. Now they(DMK) have gone this way. They are giving one cooker per house. I did not go to get the cooker. My husband got it for me. This is a small size cooker. They asked us to vote for congress symbol (Kai chinnam).” Another elderly lady standing nearby expressed her disappointment that the DMK did not provide tokens for both their daughter and granddaughter, despite their request.

Savukku Shankar shared videos of the DMK distributing cookers from the home of a local leader named Kumarasamy, which is located opposite the Sengodampalayam Shakti Nagar tennis court in Erode East constituency.

He also shared visuals of the DMK leader’s stock room, where the cooker meant for voters was kept.

Opposition parties also claimed that in order to prevent people from meeting the ADMK candidate, DMK leaders took Arunthathiyar, who are daily workers, on a tour of Mettur Dam and fed them near camps in the dam. They claimed that 18 to 20 buses are used on a trip that takes people from the housing board in the early morning and returns them to their homes late at night. The visuals of voters from Erode East constituency being taken into a bus by DMK cadres for a trip to Mettur have gone viral on social media.

It is worth noting that Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai shared a video of DMK Minister KN Nehru and Congress candidate EVKS Elangovan discussing the distribution of money and gifts to voters, which was accidentally picked up by a mic in a public meeting.

On 11 February 2023, Election Officer H Krishnanunni stated that election officials and police personnel seized tokens from the car of DMK South Union Treasurer Sarbudeen in Tirupur district after receiving information about the distribution of money at night through tokens during the election campaign.

The DMK, led by MK Stalin with his trusted lieutenant Minister Senthil Balaji has taken corruption and election malpractice to a new extreme.

Not only has the stakes gone up in this by-election. The cost of politics itself has gone up because of this high-stake election with voters being lured with money power.

The Erode East by-election will go down in the electoral history of independent India as the election which shot up the cost of politics to a new high.

Old Man Tries To Immolate Self Alleging Land Grab By DMK Councillor

An oldman tried to set himself on fire in front of the Chennai Collector Office. He alleged that his land was grabbed by a DMK councillor named JK Manigandan from Puludivakkam.

The 164th birth anniversary of Malayapuram Singaravelar was commemorate on 18 February 2023 at the Chennai District Collectorate. Political leaders were on the way to pay their respects.

An old man who came with a petition to meet the District Collector, suddenly poured kerosene on his body and tried to set himself on fire.

Immediately those who were present at the spot poured water and doused the fire. Later the police rescued the old man and took him to the police station for further investigation.

The old man told the reporters, “My name is Gunasekaran. I have been living with my family in Aadambakkam area under Alandur constituency for 50 years. The DMK councilor JK Manigandan is occupying my house and threatening me. Despite filing a complaint regarding this in collector’s office, no action was taken. That’s why I tried to set myself on fire.”

Later, the police called his family and investigated the matter.

Referring to this incident, Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai said ”Under the DMK regime, TN is slowly turning into a jungle for the lawless!”
